I own a software development company. The standard inside the company is either a Dell XPS or a Macbook Pro. Currently my preferred one is the Dell XPS15 with 32 GB RAM running Linux. For the graphical designers a Macbook is preferred because of the good graphical apps like Sketch.But any laptop with plenty of RAM, a good SSD and a decent keyboard is OK. Because a laptop should last for a couple of years, you should shoot for at least 16 GB of RAM, preferably for 32 GB. You might not need the 32 GB right now but in 2 years you will.If you go for Macs, you should know that the keyboard on the Touchbar Macbook Pro sucks: not enough travel and no decent Esc key are showstoppers for developers. You need a pre Touchbar version.

What is the best starter gaming PC for my teenager?
Research, research and research. Anything with a GTX 1050 Ti and up, are great for an entry gaming PC. A few questions you got to ask yourself. How serious is your teenager about having a PC? Is he/she willing to go through the trials and errors of building one? This PC will be for gaming, however it will eventually become a workstation as well throughout their years.If your teenager really wants a “gaming PC”, then your teenager should be the one asking your question. He/she should be the one supplying you with their research of “best starter gaming PC” and why its better than their competitors.Sadly, building a PC nowadays is not worth it compared to buying a prebuilt PC. Prebuilds will usually give you a bigger bang for your buck. Especially with prebuilds going on sale all over amazon from companies like MSI, HP, etc..Another alternative are gaming laptops. They can be just as powerful as desktops and may even have the potential to replace them someday. Some brands like Acer, Lenovo and dell are always on sale and have great selections. I wouldn’t go under a GTX 1050 Ti and if you can, go for the 1060. However, a gaming desktop PC with the same specs will run more powerful and be priced cheaper (not including monitor and peripherals) some do include keyboard and mouse combo.
