How To View Of Damaged .docx File Of Microsoft Word

How do I open a Microsoft Word .docx file that has problems with the contents?

I can think of at least four methods to try: 1.  Make sure you have the free extension downloaded and installed from Microsoft's Office web site that will enable your Office 2007 to open .docx files.  2. If you have a Google Docs account, you should be able to open it from there. The next two methods may cause you to lose some of the original document's formatting and special characters, but are worth a try if you have no other options.  3. Open File Explorer, copy the docx file, then change the name of the copy extension to .doc. 4. Open File Explorer, copy the docx file and change the extension to .rtf. 5. LAST RESORT:  Follow the steps above, changing the extension to .txt. This method will result in the loss of all formatting, including line breaks ad special characters and may not read punctuation marks correctly. These are often dependent on the font style and sizes used in the original. But if you just gotta have it, this should work unless there's a deeper problem with the file itself. Finally, when all else fails, see if you can get the source to send you the document saved as a .doc file or in the body of an email.

Is there a DOCX Scrubber for multiple Word files?

I need to remove metadata from many .DOCX files at once, and I don't know how to do it. The metadata remover that comes with Microsoft Word 2007 can only clean one file at a time.

There is a program called "Doc Scrubber" for removing metadata from .DOC files in batch. (Microsoft Word 2003 and previous versions)

Is there a similar program that can do that for the newer .DOCX files? (Microsoft Word 2007 and later versions)

Need FREE software to open .doc files?

you need microsoft office for that.

How to Repair Corrupt MS Word (Docx and Doc) Files?

We had some problems with the computer at work, it just didn't want to boot one day. So it was taken to a well known computer service company and we asked them to recover the documents from the hard drive as they are very important. After 2 weeks we got a memory stick from them with all the documents we had on the computer but none of them can be opened, a message keeps coming up saying that the file is damaged or corrupt. Some of them can be opened but they are empty.
Recovery Toolbox for Word - demo versions that are available online will only helps you to evaluate the performance of the software, it wont provide the solution to recover the file. Have a look at this resource article to recover your corrupt doc file. http://www.word.recoverytoolbox.com/

Groups is corrupting our .doc, .docx files!?

Update - Hi addy and jyoti - thank you very much for your response. To give an update:

I tried the Open and Repair feature, and the Recover All Text tool. They were no help. The problem is 100% on Yahoo's side - the file was completely fine on our end when we edited it, then we uploaded it to Yahoo, and now nobody in the group can download or open any of the files. This is for a volunteer group that is working with an elementary school, and now we've lost the entire year's worth of knowledge. The files were created on both MacOS and Windows, and we tried viewing them on both MacOS and Windows - absolutely no combination works. In other words, the ONLY common factor is Yahoo.

The files were fine until we uploaded them to Yahoo.

Now they are garbage.

This is 100% Yahoo's fault.

Is there any way to enter this as a bug and get a Yahoo tech to take a look at this? This is a serious problem with Yahoo Groups, if they are making shared files unusable.

Thank you again for
