Co-worker is playing Christmas Music?

ok. My co-worker is playing non-stop Christmas music.....its driving me nuts. We have a rather small office and everyone here celebrates Christmas and it does not offend anyone at all. Unfortunately my desk is near his in the same room and I have to listen to it all day...I have asked, begged him to turn it to another station. He says I am a "bah humbug". I am not. I just dont feel like hearing every version of White Christmas in every genre. This is something I really wouldnt want to bother the bosses about. They dont want to hear that petty stuff. seriously. plus I have to work with him and I dont want to be on bad terms. He's pushing my buttons with the music though. Any suggestions on how to end this tastefully and without scissors to the radio cord?

Why don't coworkers invite me to hang out?

I worked at the same place with the same people for 10 years. We always got along great, sat and ate lunches together, gossipped together, etc. I would get invited to group outings, ie Christmas parties, baby showers, etc, but often would hear coworkers talking about getting together to go shopping, or visiting each others houses, and would feel very hurt that after all this time nobody ever asks me to hang out or get together with them. I ended up leaving that job this past year for personal reasons, and was told they were going to throw me a farewell party after the holidays, but they never did. Since I still pick up occasional shifts there as a fill-in, they have seen me many times, so there was definitely the opportunity to plan it. They even invited me to a baby shower for a coworker, and a farewell party for another worker who was moving away (and she didn't even work in our department!) Imagine how hurtful this is for me! When I was a FT employee there, everyone seemed to consider me a "friend", and they threw me a really nice baby shower for me and took up a collection when I had a personal tragedy in my life. I am facebook friends with all of them, and they will "like" or comment on my posts, but nobody ever makes an effort to communicate with me. I once texted a "friend" who has a daughter close in age to set up a playdate--she said she was going on vacation. I had hoped she would contact me when she returned, but never did. I decided not to pursue it, because it just makes me feel depressed that I have to be the one to initiate such things. I'm starting to feel like there's something wrong with me. My husband is my best friend, but I really wish I had a girlfriend to hang out with and confide in. I haven't really had any good friends in over 20 years :(

What to give a Jewish coworker at the holidays?

speaking as a jew id be touched if someone went to the trouble of finding me a happy hannukka card... but if you cant find one - a happy holidays card is great - although stay away from any images of baby jesus etc ...

as for gifts - some thing small is fine. one of the themes of hannukka is lights - so a candle set or tea lights etc would be a nice gesture...

other than that - anything is ok...

i would say though to stay away from giving anything baked unless you know how strict she is about keeping kosher...

same with stuff like soap etc any anyhthing that might contain non kosher animal products...

hope that helps - i think its nice you are being so considerate :)

What do you write on Christmas Cards?

When you get a Christmas Card from the store, they have the printed text in it but that text seems so impersonal. Mostly people, though, just write "Merry Christmas and Have a Happy New Year" or some such, and then sign their names before sending it. What can you write on a Christmas Card to make it unique for that person without turning it into a letter in a card?

What should you say in a goodbye email to your coworkers?

There's no real template. Just don't burn bridges. And don't write something that sounds just like every other goodbye email before it, otherwise don't even bother. The key thing you want is to stay in contact, yes? Just include your email address/FB/LinkedIn at the bottom. In my last company, I left at a time where there was a resignation every other day. I think people got really tired of the mass emails that basically thanked their co-workers and managers and whatnot, how they'd be missed, etc. So with that in mind, here was mine."Subj: My last day (long drawn-out farewell message)Dear all,Just kidding. Cookies in pantry. Enjoy.Goodbye,Roger Tan"Sometimes, less is more.

If you give a Christmas gift to a co-worker for every year and they don't reciprocate, should you continue giving them a present?

Gift-giving is rarely obligatory in US offices. The fact that your colleague doesn’t reciprocate underscores that.If you enjoy giving gifts, by all means continue. But it’s completely your choice. Clearly, you may be disappointed if you go in expecting a return gift. But if you have something your colleague would enjoy, which you can cheerfully give without expecting a return, by all means do so.But under no circumstances give resentfully. That defeats the purpose — of the holiday spirit, of making the recipient happy, of maintaining or improving your relationship. Better in that case simply to wish your colleague a sincere “Happy Holidays!” without a material gift.

Creepy coworker..at what point do I tell my boss?

This guy I work with asked if he could friend me on facebook I said yes and he messaged me saying "welcome to my labrinth" and all this stuff and "you dont know how long I waited to say this". He messages me alot it got to the point I didnt respond .. at work he kept wanting me to go do stuff with him outside of work but so far is not creepy at work. He did tell me a video he posted on fb was for me...its a vid where a girl has to pick a door, if she picks the wrong one she dies. He was NOT working tonight I got off work and was in my car at 6:12 and at 6:13 get a fb message saying "goodnight princess." at which I unfriended him
