Nazis were left or right wing?
Seems they are always called right wing, but somehow I feel that isn't right. They supported welfare programs for the Germans. They banned companies from firing people. They subsidized holidays for Germans (Kraft durch Freude). They spead lies about the Jews, just as the modern left does about Israel. They were very much in favor of natural laws, banned vivisection on pain of death. Euthanasia is also something modern lefties like (culture of death). Sounds pretty left wing/socialist to me. Come to think of it, they actually were socialists.

They were all totalitarian dictators on the left. @Nancy: Fascism and communism are not two opposites, but two rival gangs fighting over the same territory both are variants of statism, based on the collectivist principle that man is the rightless slave of the state. For those like you who claim that Fascism is far-right, know this: 1. Fascism decries laissez-faire capitalism. 2. Fascism decries individualism (the original fascist symbol are sticks clumped together symbolizing collectivism) 3. The main characteristic of communism is public ownership of the means of production, and therefore, the abolition of private property. The right to property is the right of use and disposal. Under fascism, men retain the appearance or pretense of private property, but the government holds total power over its use and disposal. @Nancy: Hitler demanded that corporations share their profits with the state. Nazi Germany was corporatist. Big business were in bed with the government. Corporatism is NOT free market capitalism. It is almost the exact opposite. Fascism is a collectivist ideologue. Why did Hitler have a pact with Stalin for 2 years if he hated communism so much?

all centralized governments are left wing. communism, fascism, nazism, monarchy, military dictatorship. right wing governments are those that try to keep power away from the government, and with the people. nazis were left wingers, just like all socialists. the ONLY reason they hated the communists, is because both parties were trying to take control of europe. the reason american lefties try to pretend that the nazis were right wingers, is because they are lovers of communism, and no one defends the nazis. therefore, they must pretend in their minds that nazism is the opposite of communism.
