How Wide Should I Buy A Curtain For A 95 Inch Window

When buying a Curtain what do the size mean? w,l,h?

The second number is always the length. 63 is almost always the shortest you can get but you can hang them higher than the top of the window so they will still come to the floor.

Make sure you're getting curtains wide enough too. Curtains need to be 1 1/2 - 3 times as wide as the window measurement for fullness. So if your window is 30" wide you will need 2 panels at least 42 wide for enough fullness. Here's a link to give specifics about measuring for curtains and drapes. http://www.curtainworks.com/measuring.ht...

What is a typical range for window curtain fullness or gathering?   For example, if your window is 3ft wide, you should install two 3 ft curtains for a total of 6 ft of fabric.  That would give you a curtain to window ratio of 2:1?   How much range does the ratio usually have?  Does 1.5:1 to 3:1 seem reasonable?

If you want the curtains to look good when closed, then I wouldn't recommend going under 2:1. I think 3:1 is a reasonable max. It also depends on the heading, if you have pinch pleat or eyelet headed curtains then you need 2.4:1 at least, if you have tab top curtains then you would only want 1.5:1 as they don't push back easily and will spring back over your window, blocking out all of the light. A door curtain only needs to be 1.5:1 as there is usually an issue with lack of space to push the opened curtain into behind the door. You could get away with 1.5:1 if the curtains are only for show and are never to be closed.

What are standard curtain lengths?

Curtains and drapery panels come in standard lengths of 63 inches, 84 inches, 95 inches, 108 inches and 120 inches. Tier curtains, also referred to as café curtains or kitchen tiers, come in 24-inch and 36-inch lengths. Panel widths vary according to style and manufacturer, but 54 inches is a standard width.Window treatment measurements are given in width and length, with the width mentioned first. The length is measured from the top of the rod pocket to the bottom edge of the panel. When hung, the panel normally just reaches the floor or windowsill. To determine the number of panels needed for a window, the width of the window is multiplied by 1.5, 2, 2.5 or 3, depending upon the amount of fullness desired.Floor-length is the way to go, unless there’s a radiator or a deep sill in the way. Ready-made panels are available in lengths from 63 to 144 inches. Measure from the floor to where you’ll hang the rod, then round up. You can always have the dry cleaner hem them a bit if needed. You’ll get the most current look if the fabric makes contact with the floor (or sill or radiator). Too-short curtains can seem nerdy and off, like high-waters.

What is the standard size for floor length curtains?

84 inches is the standard in the US and Canada, but some curtains are sold at 96 or 108 inch lengths for tall windows in rooms with nine- or ten-foot ceilings. These aren't necessarily custom, by the way: JC Penney has a large variety of curtains in those lengths.

What is the size of a standard sliding patio door?

Standard patio door size is 6 feet, 8 inches tall. But, the size of wall area and how much natural light you want to let in will help you determine the best size for your sliding patio door. You can also customise door design and style according to your specific requirements. Recently one of my friend avail patio door services from DIY Eze-Breez and they did fabulous job.

How do you read curtain measurements?

I am wanting to buy curtain panels to cover up my closet. I need it to be 94 inches long and 76 inches wide. I found these panels online that are 95x54. The problem is that I do not know if the 54 inches is how wide one panel is or both of them together. Any help would be very appreciated.

What are the dimensions of the standard sliding glass door?

Long answer: "Standard" in construction is a misleading term.  Standard means different things to different manufacturers, but means "all the same" to the consumers. (Sorry, I hear what is the standard ___" from a lot of clients.   Now with that in mind I am going to contradict myself about door height. A standard height for most doors is 6'8" in the US.  So the height is mostly the same for any kind of door, but a sliding glass door width can be almost anything.  If you are looking to purchase from a big box store, it will probably stock a  5' wide or 6' wide door, but the different stores may have different sizes related to those numbers. One may have a rough opening of 6' (so the door is smaller) while the other store has a door that measures exactly 6'.   Short answer: Your best bet it to find out which manufacturer you are purchasing from, or what brand your supplier is supplying, and looking up the dimensions online.

When installing blinds, when do I need a support bracket?

This will greatly depend on the type of blind you will be installing. Some blinds can be  installed at wider widths without a support bracket, due to them being lighter in weight. Here are some basic examples from Custom Window Blinds and Shades | SelectBlinds.com 2" wood blinds over 69"  will need one support bracket, over 95" will require two support brackets.2" faux wood blinds over 60" will require one support bracket, over 95" will require two. 1" aluminum mini blinds over 60" will require one support bracket, Over 77 will require two. I hope this helps!
