Will US news reporting ever return to the fairly neutral tone it prided itself on before Fox News?
Not unless we return to laws that once protected the American people to see that they got accurate news reporting. Not that long ago you could not have a monopoly in news outlets. Currently basically 5 corporations own all of our news outlets. Previously reporting news was a requirement for having the privilege of using PUBLIC resources. It was not a for profit business. Murdock and Sinclair now run their programs as a for profit business. It is ‘entertainment’ meant to gain an audience. Some parts of the country can only get their news from these monopolies.I don’t have a lot of hope for our country. Republicans are not only invested in their ideology to insure that the rich get richer, they are self motivated to make this so for their own wealth. They benefit from the propaganda from the right wing ‘news’ machine not only politically but financially. If you get a strong Democratic majority in Congress and a Democratic President, you still have a problem because we now have a right wing Supreme Court which strongly favors the power and dominance of corporate America. Any regulation which requires fair reporting and ends the monopolies that have taken over our country is going to face the supreme court under freedom of speech. They have already given Corporations the rights and protections of a individual. Until we have a constitutional amendment which declares that corporations are not citizens of the USA, we are screwed and I don’t see this happening in the near future.

No, Crimeans will be better off with Russia than left to the devices of the crazy fascists in the Ukraine regime. Russia is rebuilding its infrastructure. It makes no sense that the U.S. fomented this Maidan uprising in the first place. The EU trade deal required Ukraine to be enslaved to Brussels. Yanukovich couldnt agree.
Why do the Chinese never trust foreign media but only trust Chinese media?
To tell you the truth, I don't believe in Western media, because Western media has taught me a profound lesson and suffered heavy losses. When I found out the deception of Western media, I stopped believing in Western media and turned to watch Chinese media specially. I could easily find the consistency of views of Chinese media and predict what would happen in China in the next few years. Then I could easily speed up my business. By analyzing the reliable information of Chinese media, I could always escape the business disaster smoothly every time. 。But if I believe in Western media, I will not be able to do business, let alone escape when disaster strikes.So I would rather believe in Chinese media than western media.Western media always tell you that China is about to collapse, believe it and you can't do anything. And the Chinese media will always tell you what will happen in five or ten years'time in China, and it's basically proven to be so every time. What impact did the Watergate scandal have on America?
There were two major impacts that immediately come to mind: 1) We got Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan. The corruption of the Nixon administration during Watergate led America to look towards a Washington outsider to repair the integrity of the White House. Unfortunately, Carter was not a strong leader during a time of tremendous economic distress in the country. Double-digit inflation and unemployment -- Stagflation. Economic Malaise. Coupled with his botched handling of the Iranian hostage crisis led to the election of Ronald Reagan. Regardless of your politics, the elections of Carter and Reagan are viewed as definitive political moments in American history. 2) Due to Woodward and Bernstein at the Washington Post, the media permanently injected itself directly into the political process and became a "player". Now every journalist walking the beat is hoping for his own personal Watergate -- even if they have to artificially inflate the "sinister nature" of the "other side" -- whichever side that is politically. Today, "journalism" seems to be a matter of allowing the extremists from both sides to spout incendiary sound bites.

The kind of corruption which forms the heart of American political process cannot thrive in such a place.The lobby groups and politicians still milk tgebsystem for all its worth, but if an industry doesn’t have significant support amongst voters, it doesn’t do a party, or a politician, any favours to be seen to receive millions of dollars from such a group. I think the maximum donation size which doesn’t need to be disclosed is $10,000. You can’t buy a lot on the down low for ten grand these days, and anything too big from the bad guys looks dodgy and gets blown up in the media.New Zealand is a lobby group. What we do at the UN is basically represent a range of special interests, because who really cares about NZ? It serves out purposes (and those of the entire planet) to represent much broader and bigger ideas than our own narrow sliver of dirt in the middle of nowhere. It’s lead to what is locally known as ‘punching above our weight’ in world politics, but it’s really just that diplomacy is one of our biggest export industries. This is basically how we landed the first free trade agreement with China and managed to grow one of the biggest dairy producing companies on the planet, Fonterra.The New Zealand government doesn’t get lobbied, they’re world class lobbyists.

@Herve: True, but some breeds are further removed from their ancestors than others. @Scarred Decoy: I have "checked this out on my own," it is true that genetics is obviously one of the main factors in how a dog will behave. There will be some pits that are beyond training due to their family history, but there are others that are better bred and more manageable. Yeah, that makes up for burying all those articles about mass graves and thankful Iraqis on the back page of the food section. Stop their bitching? Keep dreaming.
