How Will The Us Remember Trayvon Martin

Did Trayvon Martin Have A Prior Arrest Record?

Someone today was trying to tell me that- Trayvon Martin had a prior arrest record for selling drugs.
Is this true?If it is,then the news sure did a good job of keeping it out, because I had no idea. And I've heard the story multiple times and read about it online different times, and not ONE of em said anything about an arrest record.
Whether or not he had an arrest record still doesn't justify him being killed.I was just curious as to whether or not this was true.
~Hope that Zimmerman dude gets what he deserves

Why is the Trayvon Martin / George Zimmerman case such a hot political topic anyway?

Help me out with this, because I'm struggling to figure out why this case is a battle of conservative vs liberal, and why this whole thing has become so political.

I mean, let's get real for a moment. There are black teenagers getting smoked in South Central LA all the time. Where's the media attention? Why is THIS such a hot topic? Because Trayvon Martin was black and because George Zimmerman is......(what is he anyway?) He's not white, so you cant' say this is a hate crime. Or can you?

I guess my question is WHY we're all arguing over this case as if it has ANY political relevance whatsoever? Guilty or innocent, this doesn't affect me in the slightest. Or any of you for that matter. Especially if Florida "hold your ground laws" don't apply to you in whatever state you live in. So why all the hub-bub?

Are Trayvon Martin supporters aware he may have been committing felony assault when he was killed?

Ok, let's go with the idea that Trayvon was there to commit a crime with a huge IF (considering his father and fathers fiancé live in the subdivision makes this highly unlikely). George IS NOT an authority and DID NOT identify himself as one. As a matter of fact, didnt the operator say more than once "stay in your car" "we don't need you to do that" (follow him)?  So explain to me what difference it would make what Trayvon was doing if George didnt have any authority to do more than call 911? Better yet, explain to me how can George claim self defense when he decided Trayvons guilt in a car with no evidence (please listen to his tone on that 911 call "these FUCKS always get away"), pursued, then got out of his car and attacked Trayvon?  On what planet is self defense and instigation synonymous? George incited the altercation he ended up in. By sheer definition, George was not defending himself. He was acting out his misguided hatred. One more thing, explain, with such a rogue approach to justice, how are Black Americans supposed to feel confident in the justice system? Please explain, in terms of the reckless killing of Black lives, is this 1813 or 2013? To me, it feels like strange fruit.

Should the shooting of Trayvon Martin prompt any changes in Florida gun or self-defense laws?

I don't think you guys even know what "stand your ground" even is! The law simply removes the REQUIREMENT that you retreat first that some states have. Meaning this: in a NON "stand your ground" state, if I'm walking down the street and somebody suddenly starts chasing me with a knife, I am legally obligated to turn tail and run (hoping that I'm faster than the guy) and try to get away before reaching for my weapon. However...If I'm not a fast guy, i'll simply be stabbed to death because I can't run and I wasn't allowed to stand my ground. Now in a "stand your ground" state, if someone starts sprinting at me with a knife, I can choose to run if I feel that is the best way for me to escape. Or I can instead choose to go straight for my gun before the guy gets to me. Then I would draw and yell. If he saw the gun and stopped, that would be that. He would walk away and I would continue on about my day. But if he didn't stop I would stand my ground and drop him. Thus saving my life. Now if people are getting away with starting a fight, then claiming the "stand your ground" defense for deadly force in the fight they started...then the law needs to be revised so that can't happen. But it is an important concept for self defense, There are many situations where being forced to retreat before standing and fighting will get you killed.

"First they came..." by Martin Niemöller, what does this poem mean?

"THEY CAME FIRST for the Communists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist.

THEN THEY CAME for the Jews,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.

THEN THEY CAME for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist.

THEN THEY CAME for the Catholics,
and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant.

THEN THEY CAME for me,
and by that time no one was left to speak up."

By Martin Niemöller...

What does this poem mean? Can someone describe it to me, like really deep?

-Thank you very much, I appreciate it!-

Riots after the Trayvon M. Case.?

Look, I know people are sick of debating or talking about the Trayvon Martin case. I may be overreacting, but if Zimmerman is aquited there is a possibility of a riot to happen anywhere in Florida. I live about 2 hours away from Orlando in Jacksonville, and I also live in a perdomintely Black community. None of our neighbors have ever given us problems, they have been very nice and kind to us, even though my husband is white and im half Asian. What I want to know is what do I do if a riot starts happening? I have a 3 year old with me and my husband works all day and usually has the car. Should we pack before the verdict is said? I mean WTH am I suppose to do? This whole thing is stressing me out.

Please I'm asking for serious answers.
Please, no bloody f'ing trolls.
