How Would I Go About Getting My Retainer After Braces

How soon should you get retainers after getting braces taken off? I made an appointment of getting retainers one week after taking off braces. I'm wondering if that's too long.

Braces are usually placed (attached) to your teeth for a period of 2–3 years (or there about) usually speaking. A “retainer” is also recommended for a period of time (6–12 months approx.) to hold them in place without your braces. Some teeth DO shift, which is quite natural, so a “retainer” should be kept regardless how long after your braces have been taken off. You may need to replace your retainers after a period of time but also maintain one should you need to use it in a few months time

Why am i getting my retainer a week later after getting braces off?

I went to the Orthodontist yesterday and they gave me an appointment for September 26th to get my braces off, but they gave me another appointment for October 5th, saying that that appointment will be for the retainers. I'm worried. Will i be going a whole week without some type of retainer? I just don't want my teeth to shift too much.

How long after getting braces off is it okay to stop wearing a retainer?

Whereas general advice used to be to wear orthodontic retainers for around 6 months full time and 6 months night time only, this has been superseded. Nowadays advice tends to be to wear your removable retainers during the night for as long as you want your teeth to remain in their corrected positions. In addition to removable retainers, fixed retainers are also recommended to augment retention and help prevent relapse in the event that the removable retainer ceases to be effective or needs to be replaced due to wear or damage etc.Occasionally teeth are stable after temporary retention but it’s not possible to reliably predict which occlusions will be stable and which will relapse so the safest option is permanent retention.Speak to your orthodontist for their advice on your individual situation.

Must you wear a retainer after braces?

maybe just to be on the safe side you should ask your orthodontist about it but make it clear you are asking about you!!!!!

Retainers, just got my braces off,?

I waited a week to get my retainers after my braces were removed. Your teeth will move a little, but not so much that the retainer can't fix. I've been wearing retainers now for 1 1/2 years. They're a lot less maintenance than braces!

I got my braces off 2 days ago, but don't get my retainer until 10 days from now. Will my teeth move a lot?

Retainer, which must be worn routinely after treatment in order to hold your teeth in their proper, new position while your gums, ligaments and bones adapt. There are several types of retainers,Hawley RetainersThe Hawley retainer is one of the most common types of retainers. It is a removable retainer made of a combination of a metal wire that typically surrounds the six anterior teeth and is designed to keep your teeth in place. This retainer is made from impressions of your teeth so that it fits snugly and comfortably in the roof of your mouth, while the wire and acrylic framing keeps your teeth in an ideal position. The acrylic can also be personalized with a large number of colors or patterns.Essix (Clear) RetainersThe Essix retainer is a transparent removable retainer that fits over the entire arch of your teeth. This clear or transparent retainer fits over the entire arch of teeth and is produced from a mold. Similar to Invisalign’s clear aligner trays, Essix retainers have no metal or wires. They can also be used to produce minor tooth movements and can be helpful in prevention of tooth wear due to tooth grinding at night.Bonded RetainersBonded lingual retainers are cemented directly to the inside surface of your lower canines. As with removable retainers, it is important to keep your bonded retainers clean. When brushing, make sure to carefully clean the inside of your lower teeth, as well as the wire itself. The retention phase of treatment begins when the patient’s braces are removed. Retainers are worn full time, typically for the first nine months, except while eating. Retainers should also be removed before brushing your teeth.Visit your dentist and fix your retainers as soon as possible.

After having braces do you have to wear a retainer for life?

it definitely wouldn't hurt. what i've seen from experience working at an orthodontist's office is that people in their 20s and 30s begin to stop wearing their retainers at all. it is around this time that their teeth usually start moving back. they will not go back completely to how bad they were before braces, but it's not uncommon for adults to get braces or invisilign later in life to correct poor retainer habits.
at least sleep in it a few times a week :)

How long do you have to wear a retainer for after braces?

So I might be getting jaw surgery in over a year's time, requring me to have worn braces for a year in advance and a year afterwards. Obviously I'll need to wear a retainer after the braces, but how long do you have to wear it for?

I mean... I could stand a few months wearing it. After all if I go through two years of braces and underbite surgery, I'm sure I'll manage a few months wearing a retainer. But I've also heard people say you're meant to wear it for 5 years, and others saying forever.

How long are you supposed to wear it for the correction to be permanent?

Can I pick what type of retainer I want after braces?

I'm getting my braces off early in the morning on September 9th. In the afternoon on the same day, I'm getting my retainers. I keep doing research on if I can choose what type of retainers I want. I keep getting a lot of different answers. Some said they did and a few said they didn't have a option to choose from. I started to get confused even more because some people said that their orthodontist gave them the Hawley & Exxis retainers. By the way, when you get retainers, do you have to pay for them separately or is it with the treatment that I already paid for.
