this might be expensive, but at least I'll point you in the right direction.

the idea is to place a tempting bill somewhere where the thief will find it. Dust it with the UV powder.

bring a hand held black light to work that day and when the bill goes missing. Just start calmly "showing off" your new black light to your co workers.......

when you come across the thief............ their hands will light up!!!

stay away from the shortwave powders

good luck! and play it cool..... keep an eye open over your shoulder..... GO alpha team GO!!!!

How to catch a thief at my workplace?

Someone stole sixty dollars from purse in cash while I was at work. Once I tried reporting it to my manager, other co-workers began telling me stories about certain people that worked that day, and have been around in the past every time someone gets money stolen. The problem is, it's cash and unless I had the serial numbers recorded (no way) then I can't prove they have MY cash and not their own. Not to mention, I didn't find it until after my shift and the money is going to already be spent by who ever took it. My question is this: If the management knew about a potential thief, why wouldn't they fire the person responsible, and if they did know and didn't fire them, then could I hold them responsible for a theft? This is tricky, because one of the two people who could be responsible, is one of the lower level managers. Right, I know I shouldn't have left the cash in my wallet, so I don't wanna hear anything about that. I wanna figure out how to catch this person, and then get my money back, either from the company or the culprit. I already filed a police report.

Any good ideas on how to catch a mail thief?

I live way out in the sticks w/no neighbors in site. Over the last few days I've been wondering if some dreg has been stealing my mail. Then yesterday I saw it being delivered and figured I'd take the important stuff and leave the junk mail. Sure enough, it was gone this morning.

I'd like to hide in the bushes and sniper the thief with my .223, but that would get me in a heap of trouble. I don't think it's legal to shoot people for stealing mail, even if they are worthless meth-heads.

Anyone have a low-tech, legal idea on how to teach these pricks a lesson or catch them in the act that doesn't involve hiding in the bushes for hours on end?

Thanks for your time and consideration.

How do you catch a mail package thief?

Might try setting up a camera out front. Try one of those decoys that make a loud bang when someone tampers with them. The best thing to do is be there when the parcel arrives, but that's obviously not possible at all hours of the day. Try buying a parcel locker. Report stolen packages to the post office. If it's happening to you it could be happening to others on your street/in your neighborhood. Mail related crimes tend to peak the interest of the Postal Inspectors.

Who traps Will Smith in "I Am Legend"?

I would really like to read the book before I answer this question, but based on what I inferred from the movie, I believe the director/screenwriters were intimating that the mate of the female darkseeker that Doc had captured was the trapper in that sequence. If you remember, Neville made it a point to mention that this darkseeker had exhibited atypical behavior for the infected, exposing himself to sunlight, and he had singled Doc out for particular malice. Also supporting this concept is the scene where the mate urges the "hellhounds" on to attack Neville. Remember, he grabbed the dogs by the scruff and basically threw them at the Doc. I think that a major theme of the movie, and possibly this might be more evident in the novel, is the idea that Doc had experimented on the darkseekers as if they were animals, forgetting that they were once human. They of course did not behave as humans are supposed to much of the time, nor did they resemble humanity in form or vitals any more. But I think the message is that their lack of humanity did not excuse Neville for his callous treatment of them. He was trying to cure them, but he had unintentionally killed his patients. You could tell that that no longer bothered him by his flippant remarks to Anna as she looked at the photos of all the expired infected people he had tested.
I think Neville was so "tunnel visioned" out about his "site," about the dire nature of being alone in the world, and about the tremendous responsibility of trying to "fix this," that he did not count on the remaining human intelligence within the darkseekers. It was easier for him to perform his "cure or kill" trials on the "creatures" if he blinded himself to their humanity. Perhaps his taking of the female was even the trigger for the new behaviors in the male, in other words, by capturing her as if she were an animal, he sealed his own fate.

Could I legally set up traps for thieves on my property or in my car?

Legally, probably not. However, I have a friend that got tired of having his car broken into and stereo stolen. So he skinned the driver's seat and carved out padding. Then installed a stun gun into the seat with the probes to press into the seat cover. He set it to arm with his alarm. He and I were at a work conference, staying in a hotel, sure enough his alarm sounded, he ran to the door and raced down to the car finding an unconscious thief in his seat being constantly stunned with 80,000 volts direct from the car battery. As it is questionable to do this, my friend hoisted the unconscious man to his feet by the collar, in front of dozens of annoyed witnesses awakened by his alarm, punched him as hard as he could, “knocking him unconscious” and breaking his jaw. The thief literally never knew what hit him. Shortly, the police arrived and took the thief into custody.

Is it viable trying to bait a thief?

Opey, sure why not it’s more interesting than being ripped off.If you know someone is stealing from you, you could set a trap and collect evidence, using HD video. If that doesn’t work making it so temping that they can’t resist and get it on video may backfire. I mean tempting someone beyond their power to resist may not get you what you want justice wise. However, if the crime happens, think CSI, don’t enter the area, in other words don’t contaminate the scene and call 911.No vengeance, no extortion, and really important no violence. There are no jurisdictions I know of that will allow you to set a trap that will harm the thief. That’s the State’s job and they are really jealous of competitors. There is a lot of room for charging thieves, so what they steal and its value may just get them a little trouble not a lot, but at least you had the fun of catching them.Happy hunting

How do you catch someone whose been stealing your mail?

Question: How do you catch someone whose been stealing your mail?Stealing it from where?Your box?Contact the United States Postal Inspectors and let them know about the problem. if this appears to be a long-term problem or it’s resulted in identity fraud, they will likely want you to come in and file a report. DO this as soon as possible. They may also have you file a report with your local police department so make certain to determine what has been stolen and what you believe has been stolen from your mail.Inside your home? Then screen who you have been allowing inside of your home. Most of us have a limited number of people in our homes anyway so it won’t take very long to narrow down the “suspects.” Rather than confronting the person about the alleged thefts, simply ask that they not return to your home. They may grow angry; however, if they are the thief, they’ll know that you are “on to them” and they’ll not return in case you do decide to call the police. At work?I would suggest sitting down with your immediate supervisor and then Human Resources to address this. Someone can be both immediately terminated as well as prosecuted for this so it’s a very serious matter. If you have proof that your mail is being stolen, then I would suggest providing when you make the complaint and then allowing your company's disciplinary system to address the matter.I wouldn’t advise going outside the company to the authorities unless or until they have demonstrated that they are unwilling or unable to control the matter themselves. Or if the mail theft has caused your financial damage by identity theft.NOTE:I would strongly advise against attempting some sort of “sting operation” while trying to resolve this. Setting up a camera to collect evidence is good; however confronting someone with that video evidence might not be. You aren’t going to get people to admit to crimes in most instances and only an idiot would return mail items that they stole and risk incrimination themselves.Allow the proper authorities to handle this matter. If things cannot be resolved quickly enough for you, then I would suggest renting a postal mailbox and having ALL of your mail deliver to that address for one calendar year. That will long enough for any mail their to grow tired and move on or get caught in the interim.

I need to get revenge on a thief?

Hi there. My car has been broken into twice. Please don't respond if you're going to blame me either. Even when there's nothing in the car, they're still breaking in and vandalizing my vehicle for the hell of it. So it's not b/c I keep high dollar items in my front seat.

Moving along, these people have also broken into my truck. I live in a nice quiet town, apparently it's kids or college buttholes with no money. They stole something of great sentimental worth to me, and it's clear that it's going to happen again. Or it would've stopped.
So,
I want to leave a nice pretty bag on my seat to give them a reason to break in this time.
And get back at them.
Perhaps leave a rabid bat in said bag?
Ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
