How Would Most People Feel If Found Out Their Landlord Had Been Spying On Them Via Hidden Cameras

My landlord has someone spying on me?

I have not had any noisy parties, and I am certainly not racist. I have neighbors that have thrown very loud parties, and the cops were not called on them. I had one arguement with my ex-husband that led to the police being called because it became very heated. I am a pretty mature and quiet person. I do not play music or movies really loud. I am not that obnoxious, loud neighbor. I have just seperated from my husband of 7 years.
I am having a hard time with all this, so please no more rude answers. Thanks.

I suspect my roommate is pissing in my drinks. How should I handle it?

So about five months ago I found super-cheap rent rooming with some middle-aged guy I found via an ad on Craigslist. I moved in only to discover that my roommate (who's also my landlord) is a filthy scumbag who doesn't work and spends all day chain-smoking and living off whatever money he can steal from his elderly mother.

Anyway, a couple months ago I noticed that whatever beverages I left in the fridge (juice, soda, etc.) would very quickly end up tasting flat and just, well... off. I also noticed that when I leave for work I come home to find the containers somewhat fuller than when I left. I even confirmed this once by marking the bottle with a felt-tip marker one morning.

The reason I suspect there's urine in them is because one time I noticed that the ice cubes in my ice tray had sort of a yellowish tint to them. There were also several yellow droplets around the rim of the tray. I also know that my roommate, being the lazy bastard that he is, keeps a water jug in his room that he pisses in when he's too lazy to walk to the bathroom. I can totally envision him dumping it into my two liter bottles just to be an asshole.

The extenuating factor in the whole mess is that my roommate is infected with Hepatitis C he contracted from a tattoo he received while serving a prison sentence for assaulting his adult daughter. The only reason I know this story is because he brings it up every chance he has as though he's proud of it or something. I understand that Hepatitis C can only be transmitted through blood to blood contact, but does he know that? Could he be actively trying to intentionally infect me with Hepatitis? What else could he be doing to my stuff when I'm not around?

In ordinary circumstances I'd move out immediately, but rent there is absurdly cheap for the area and I can't really afford to live anywhere else. That said, how should I handle this situation?

Should I confront him about it? Should I just invest in a mini-fridge for my room? I was also considering getting tested for Hepatitis C. Do you think that's even necessary? Is there some sort of lab I can take a bottle to to have it tested for urine?

I'm somewhat reluctant to bring it up to him due to the fact that he's a very confrontational person and I'm afraid of what he might do if he feels cornered.

Any help you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated.

My neighbor has a camera pointed right at my driveway is this legal?

Yes, if the camera is on their property it’s perfectly legal for them to point it at anything that would be visible if they were standing in the street itself, and that includes your house, front door or driveway. If something is visible from a public space, such as a road or sidewalk, or from the air, it is by definition public. You do not have an expectation of privacy when you or your possessions are in public. That said, there are laws against what they can do with the images they collect, and with the knowledge it yields. They cannot use it in ways that cause you harm, which is covered by various different laws depending on the type of mischief intended.Perhaps the best way to understand why all this is true is to stand on your own property and gaze across the street or yard at the neighbor’s house. Anything you can see with your eyes is something you can also legally point a camera at, except that it’s not legal to peer inside the house (through a window with open curtains, for example). That is covered by voyeur laws (aka, Peeping Tom laws). Other than that, however, imagine how you’d feel if someone told you that even though you are standing on your own property, you are not allowed to look at something anyone else can see or take picture of.Likewise for them. They can point the camera at and record your driveway as much as they like. You can do the same. It’s all publicly visible.

Can my landlord make get a p.o. box for my mail?

So many different answer, but in My opinion it’s illegal to just require you to only have a P.O Box, if you have a lease to rent the place then you have a right to receive mail at that residence,

Also do not forget Only the US postal system can deliver a package to a PO Box, so this requirement by the landlord means you could only receive packages from the US post office and not like FedEx or such

I am going to agree with the above post in that the main reason that the landlord is asking for you to use a PO box is based solely on the fact its an illegal rental and the landlord does not want proof that you have established residency at the place by receiving mail, hence the reason to require you to have a PO box

How much to charge a couple renting a room?

We recently rented out the room and full bath in our basement to a friend of ours. Right now, we're charging him $650 a month which includes everything (utilities, gas, water, and one cable box). Before he moved in, we had a discussion with him that it would only be him living here and that sometimes his girlfriend would be over. It's been about a week since he's moved in and it seems like we've got two roommates now. His girlfriend has been here everyday and sleeps in his room every night. She uses the bathroom to take a shower, washes her clothes in our laundry machine, uses our kitchen to cook....and on top of that, he's even asked us to give her a key to the house. We decided to give her the garage door key, since they both leave after us in the morning when we go to work, so we want to make sure that they lock up the house and of course she leaves last out of everyone. Now, to me an extra body in the house means it'll cost more for utilities. Do you think it's fair to say that she is pretty much living here and that he did not discuss to us that both of them would be living in the room? Also, how much more should we charge for both of them to rent a room and full bathroom to make it fair? $750? or $800? We decided not to charge much in the first place because he is our friend and we don't want to over charge a good friend of ours, plus we didn't know that we were going to have 2 roommates.
