How Would You Cure Hook Worm In A 8week Old German Shepard Pup

Can I give my 12 week old puppy rice? Or will it give her worms?

Rice does not give a dog (or human) worms, and it won't hurt her at all. If you have eggs, scramble her three or four eggs and mix it in the rice (cook the rice first of course). If you have beef or chicken broth, use that instead of water when cooking the rice. If you have chicken in the freezer, boil her some chicken and add that to the meal as well.

This is a quick fix for one meal since you're out of food (it's also excellent for when a dog has an upset stomach and diarrhea). But for a healthy dog, you shouldn't do this for every meal (because they won't get the daily nutrition they need). You need to get out as soon as you can and get her some real dog food.

My 7 week old puppy has worms, what kind are they and how do I treat them?

Definitely worms, could be flatworm or tapeworm. You can buy stuff over the counter for them but with a puppy, I wouldn't administer that stuff. At seven weeks, you should be taking the pup to the vet for puppy shots any way. Have the dog checked for the worms and the vet will give a tiny pill to treat it.

The dog may have fleas so the dog will also need treatment for that. Ask the vet what products would be available for a pup his age. Can't just use anything because he's so tiny.

Most vets do a thorough exam when they first see a dog anyway so ge it done there.

If you can't afford to go to a vet (I know these are tough times) find a vet who will work with you (let you work in the office, clean the kennels or put your tab on a payment plan). Don't neglect your dog because you don't have the bucks.

Will my 5 week old Doberman be Okay?

Last saturday, I got the little doberman puppy from someone who had not taken care of the pups, and they were all in bad shape. If they were left there any longer, they prolly wouldnt have made it according to my wife who's a certified Vet Tech. So we decided to take he pup home to give it a chance at living. The next day, we took it to her Vet clinic (Banfield), and ran all types of tests. It turns out that it has; Tapeworm, Hookworm, and other parasites, It has some kind of skin fungus, and also has anemia. It was full of ticks and fleas. So we did the best we could at removing all ticks and fleas(all gone now), and treatment for the skin and parasites. At first the pup was always down, and wouldnt eat much. 2 days after the treatments and good healthy food, the pup has become a lot more active and playful.. He seems happy and like he's going to be okay. He's already begun eating puppy food(dry), since the Vet said they should and usually stop drinking milk around 4-5 weeks. However, My concern and question is, Will he be okay? Since he was not with his mother for the full 8 weeks as recommended, he was only with the mother for 4 weeks. Will it affect him in any way in the future? Is there any advice on how to properly take care of him and lead him to grow into a responsible and obedient dog?
Thanks to all who can help.

Puppy having diarrhea for 3 weeks!! HELP?

So I got my German Shepard puppy about 6 weeks ago. She was 8 weeks old when I got her. I took her to the vet and she had roundworms and hookworms. We got her medicine and also her shots and everything was good for the next 2 weeks. Then I took her back and they check her poop again and said everything was clear and good! So we took my puppy home and continued with our life. About a week later when we took her out she was having diarrhea, we thought maybe it was just her food or small tummy ache that caused it. She continued having diarrhea for another day! So we took her back to the vet. Her poop was clear so they have me some anti-diarrhea medication to give her for 14 days. She continued to have diarrhea for the next 2 days then her diarrhea was BLOODY! It scared me and freaked me out so I rushed her BACK to the vet to check for parvo and other things. Everything came back negative so I didn’t know what could of caused it!!! They just gave me more meds.. her bloody poop continued for another 2 days so I decided to take her to a different vet. They found the coccidia parasite all in her stool. Said that was what caused the diarrhea and blood in stool. They gave me medicine to give her for 8 days and it should get better.... NOPE. her diarrhea is getting WORSE and she can’t even hold it in anymore!! It just starts coming out like water everywhere! I just don’t know what to do anymore.. I’ve spent almost $600 in vet bills and idk what to do now.

Is curd (dahi) good for puppies?

When a puppy comes home he is just a few weeks old and I should say a baby coming home. So, the first question that worries every puppy owner is what should they feed to the puppy? Shall they start the new food or carry on with the old one? Here is the answer. As puppy has delicate digestive system hence, it is advised not to disturb the same and go on with the same food given to him. The old food should be given for a particular which means for a week and later the old food should be mixed with the new food. There is a range of food available for puppies in the form of starter which comes in the form of powder (cereal) and as well as dry form. You can give butter milk or coconut water during summer to prevent from heatstrokePUPPY FEEDING – A COMPLETE GUIDEBuy puppy food online

My Puppy of 7 weeks has roundworms crawling Out of his butt?

Roundworms have rounded bodies and tend to be long. If the worms you are seeing are flattish, about the size of a grain of rice and wriggly, then you are seeing tapeworm segments. Roundworm medication does not kill tapeworms. You can now buy tapeworm medication for dogs at some feed and pet stores (call ahead) or you can call the vet and tell him or her what you see and maybe the doctor will just sell you the meds you need for it.

Your kids would have to eat the tapeworm segments to get worms. After a worming, there should be NO worms coming out of the dog IF all of the worms have been treated. But again, it takes different medications to kill different kinds of worms. You'll soon have this problem taken care of, don't worry.

BTW it is illegal to buy or sell a puppy of less than 8 weeks old and your breeder should know this! Your breeder should also have wormed the pup before you got it.

If at all possible, take the pup back to the breeder and leave it there for another week. It is very important to the puppy's mental development for it to be with its mother and siblings until it is 8 weeks old. Puppies taken too young (before 8 weeks of age) from the mother and siblings tend to have major behavior problems, most notably destructive chewing.

If the breeder won't help and your dog is AKC registered, then report the breeder to the AKC. The breeder can lose his/her right to have AKC registered puppies, and should, if they are selling them too young.

HOW DO WE GET RID OF ROUNDWORMS?

Numerous deworming products are effective. Some are over the counter and some are prescription. Many flea control and/or heartworm prevention products provide a monthly deworming which is especially helpful in minimizing environmental contamination. Common active ingredients include:

Febantel (active ingredient in Drontal and Drontal plus)

Pyrantel pamoate (active ingredient in Strongid, Nemex, HeartgardPlus and others)

Piperazine (active ingredient in many over the counter products)

Fenbendazole (active ingredient in Panacur)

Milbemycin Oxime (active ingredient of Interceptor and Sentinel)

Moxidectin (active ingredient in AdvantageMulti)
There are two important concepts to keep in mind about deworming. Medications essentially anesthetize the worm so that it let’s go of its grip on the host intestine and passes with the stool. Once it has been passed, it cannot survive in the environment and dies.

This means that you will likely see the worms when they pass so be prepared as they can be quite long and may still be alive and moving when you see them.

The other concept stems from the fact that all the larvae in migration cannot be killed by any of these products. After the worms are cleared from the intestine, they will be replaced by new worms completing their migration. This means that a second, and sometimes even a third deworming is needed to keep the intestine clear. The follow-up deworming is generally given several weeks following the first deworming to allow for migrating worms to arrive in the intestine where they are vulnerable.

Do not forget your follow-up deworming.

My puppy has worms that wont go away?

If you just recently gave her the medicine like today or yesterday-- then it sounds like the system is ridding itself of the worms via poop. That's why it's common to see a lot of worms in the poop shortly after worming them. And that's also why it's important to not give too much worming the first time if the dog is OVERLOADED with worms, for it may be too much for the system to handle and become blocked, but I don't think that's the problem with your dog.. lol
Some dogs need several worming treatments, depending on the severity of the case of worms, so you may need to take her to the vet. Also, not all wormer kills all worms, so she may need to go to the vet and get a fecal exam done to see what worms she has
