How Would You Feel About A Political Candidate Who Promised Not To Take A Salary

What are the most common promises politicians give to voters every election?

They promise poor that they will protect them from rich people , and promise rich that they will bring more benefits for them .Corruption free beurocrat systemRoad, Water, free health services, better educationProtection to backward class from higher and influenced communities .Violence free societyRespect for womenJobs for youthThese are top 7 greedy promises politicians gives to voters .And each politician try to fulfil his promises as per his capabilities ( yes I said as per his Capabilities)

What has Trump done that he promised as a candidate?

Destroyed the movement to a socialist dictatorship at least for now. He has “incentivized” bad actors in the world to what they refused to do for 30 years or longer and that is to stop their movement towards aggression. Iran, North Korea of course are in process. He also said he would reduce and simplify taxes, to increase protection of the American people militarily and by border enforcement. He has stopped the fascist socialist movement towards use of regulatory agencies to cartelize industries and take control of what were once decisions to be made by the owner(s).He has begun the process of firing criminals in high places including members of the FBI and other agencies. The non elected employees of the government are on notice that they will either serve the people and the nation or they or their agency will be removed from power. Finally, did you hear what he promised?

Why do politicians promise us one thing to get elected and then do the opposite?

Because the truth on large matters isn’t what we want to hear.We ask for their lies because the truth is unpalatable.Who would vote for an candidate who would openly say that if we’re going to be fiscally responsible the taxes on those making over five million a year would be doubled and that we’re taking more taxes out of everyone’s check to cover health care since we’re paying for it anyway, or that we have to allow more pollution of lakes and rivers because there aren’t clean ways to keep people working. Or that if we want to have better infrastructure we’re going to have to raise taxes more and not allow highway funds to leak into other areas of the budgets. That welfare isn’t generational now and still isn’t making people capable of living on their own until the lowest paid workers make a living wage, and yes, that might cost you more too. That immigration is necessary since we don’t have enough people willing to work at low paying no future jobs. Or just physically demanding or disgusting jobs. That hating hurts both giver and receiver and is counterproductive to a good country. That caring for the elderly is going to impact on us all in the next few years and we’d better prepare for it, or be ready to have Grandma and Grandpa move in. And one of us is going to have to give up our job to take care of them.Real life isn’t campaigns or promises, it’s the often unpleasant side of things no one wants to think about, or pay for.

In presidential campaigns, candidates always seem to make more promises than they can fulfill. What economic concept is ignored by the candidates?

One concept is externalizing costs. This will never get brought up. An example would be how a high percentage of Wal-mart employees rely on public assistance because of the low pay. Wal-Mart is the largest employer in the US. One of the richest families. In their business model, instead of paying a decent wage, they decided to have tax payers subsidize their employees.Another economic concept that is now taboo is focusing on demand side economics. Raising the minimum wage puts more money into people’s pockets. More money in their pockets means they buy more stuff. When they buy more stuff, companies have to hire employees to meet that demand. This helps small businesses as well as large ones.Allen Greenspan admitted that part of his job was to ensure a good amount of worker insecurity. This has been the norm for awhile. When there are many jobs around, employers have to pay more to keep good employees from leaving. When jobs are harder to come by, employers can offer less because workers are grateful just to have a job.One last economic concept that will not get talked about by politicians is the circulation of money. Basically, a government jobs program to hire people to dig holes and hire others to fill the holes has more impact on the overall economy that not creating those jobs and just giving tax breaks to the most wealthy.

Why do Singaporeans impose such high standards and expectations on PAP politicians, but not on opposition candidates?

Reasons for the relatively hypercritical attitude towards PAP politicians.Sky high salariesSingapore’s ministers are paid millions of dollars annually, arguably one of these highest globally.Million dollar salaries means a tacit expectation that their quality of delivery must be world class as wellSingapore's ministers are among the best paid in the world. Prior to a salary review in 2011, the Prime Minister's annual salary was S$3.07 million, while the pay of ministerial-grade officers ranged between S$1.58 million and S$2.37 million. -WikiSide note: most of them are government scholars as well, thus more expectation for them to validate the investment using taxpayers monies.A trade-off for the country’s absence of BipartisanshipSingaporeans expects the government to deliver what the lack of opposition representation means: policies before politics, development before democracy.Basically, efficiencyHistory of paternalistic governmentThe government used to certain control over every aspect of the country. Some rights were violated in the process, but the people trust that it means effective remedy of solutions for malices that ariseThus, the failure of it means unhappiness, resentment thus harsh criticism. Why cut some slack for opposition politiciansNot as highly educatedTechnocracy means the best lead the government, where this system of governance is one that many Singaporeans believe in.This means lower expectations for opposition candidates, since they are not hotshot scholars,Not as highly paidOnly 10k+ per month, compared to the millions paidFewer, and less important responsibilitiesBasically, if they screw up, the whole country does not end up in a hell hole as well.Relatively less experienced in public service/governanceLess experienced = greater tendency to make mistakes
