How Would You Feel If You Had To Do This Job Every Day

Why do I feel quitting my IT job everyday?

Don’t do it. Consider how easy you have it. This is coming from a trucker who works 70 hours a week and is home only one day a week. Imagine doing that for five years. I also worked 14 hour days, six days a week, in the hot sun on a road construction crew, shoveling hot asphalt. I did that for five years. In addition, I logged for three years and watched my boss get killed.Man up. Work is not about happiness and those who tell you it is are lying. There are very few jobs that bring happiness, and those that do pay very little money. This philosophy of happiness is a lie. When one realizes that the search for happiness is futile, they usually find happiness. Why? Because happiness is found in contentment. Being content brings happiness. When one is happy with what is, and realizes that the magic pot of happiness at the end of the rainbow doesn’t exist, it is then that they find happiness.

What do you do when you feel trapped in a job?

I felt trapped in my job. Here is what I felt trapped by:A good salary and the sense that I could not live without it. A feeling that I could never save what I would consider to be “enough”. Over the years the number kept moving out.I felt distress at the thought of leaving my team.I feared that without the structure of a job I would condemn myself to depression; that I wouldn’t know what to do with myself all day and would end up spending my days on the couch watching TV and doing nothing. This terrified me.Here is what I very, very slowly learned:That almost every time I tell myself I’m trapped, it’s a fabrication. A prision that exists only in my mind.To put it in other words, all the thoughts that convince me I am trapped can be inverted to show me I am not.Like this:There is more than one job where I can make a good salary, and more than one way to make a good salary. I have enough. My team is comprised of intelligent adults who don’t need me.If the best that I can do for my team is offer them a trapped, stressed, disengaged version of me, they are better off without me.I have many interests to pursue and cannot only keep myself busy, I need as much time as I can get to do all the things I need to do.Rather than feel stuck, I began to plan what my next step would be and what I would need to get me there.Bonus tip: huge changes can be paralyzing due to their sheer enormity. Small changes add up fast, are incredibly effective and get you out of your imaginary prison.(The notion of writing a novel might paralyze you, but what if I said you only needed to write a page a day?)My plan was simple: working as a freelancer rather than a full time employee.(Today, one of my freelance assignments involves working with the company I left. Meaning that all along I was free to arrive at any arrangement I wanted.) With the money I finance all the things that interest me.I am not saying this is easy. I am saying it’s possible. And once your brain moves from "I'm trapped" to "it's possible", you are no longer trapped.

What does it feel like to get your dream job?

This happened to me only a week ago!I was laying in bed watching movies with one of my closest friends. It was one of those lazy Sunday mornings where you forget about everything in the world except the warm tea in your lap, and the crisp smell of your sheets. I heard my phone vibrate and saw an email notification pop up on the screen. I lazily flicked open my inbox, expecting some mundane message from one of my email subscriptions.I glanced at the subject heading: 'Job offer - [Company Name]'.My attention fully captured, I then read the first words in the email:'Congratulations. I am delighted to... 'My heart completely stopped. I held my breath. Mashing the screen to open the message, I began to speed-read through it.It confirmed that I had gotten the job, and listed my initial contract details and package inclusions. Then it hit me. Hard. My heart kicked back into life and the breath I'd been holding gushed out of me. I started shivering, while a million thoughts shot through my brain within the space of a few seconds. But all that came out of my mouth was, "Oh my god". I sat there, utterly stunned, repeating those words over and over again. My friend started smacking me with a pillow. "What? What's going on!" "I got the job."I flung myself on top of him and we rolled around the room, screaming with joy. It was like a hit of adrenaline. I was in shock for the rest of the day, alternating between chest-shattering heart palpitations and a glazed look of bewilderment. One minute I was a chattering mess of excitement, the next I was in a speechless stupor.I'd wanted it so badly. I hadn't eaten or slept properly in weeks, during the lengthy interview process. I didn't even really care how much the job was going to pay me. I just knew I wanted that experience more than anything. It was a rare opportunity and I knew I was ready for it. I'd been working towards it for years.I start in a few weeks!

How does it feel like to have a job you love?

You look forward to mondays. You're that person that comes in early, even though you don't have to. You're often the last to leave. You don't have to be. You just want to be.Your boss has to tell you to take it easy. A lot of the time. But you know that even though she says that, she's actually proud of you. There's this look in her eyes...And she treats you accordingly. That's why you get the best quarterly staff appraisals. That's why she never misses an opportunity to mention you in a good light to the higher-ups. That's not why you do it, though. Nah.You actually feel as if your colleagues are family. When you're away from this bunch is when you feel like something is missing. Being with them is when you feel normal. The crazy buggers. They're hillarious. Every. Single. One of them. But it's the work that's the really fun part. It's what you truly enjoy about being here. Thing is, you can hardly remember the last time it actually felt like "work". It feels like something you would do for fun. Even if no one paid you to do it.You see, not only are you good at it, it's good to you: It gives you some serious psychological rewards. Honest. There is this "Zone" you get into when you begin to do your thing. They call it a state of "Flow" I think. (Or is that a state only geniuses get into? Who knows these things?). In any case, It's making  star out of you. That's the reason you're the cornerstone of the team. You give too many shits. Thats why, in addition to your own work you kind of know where everyone else is on theirs. And you just know when they need a helping hand. And you just give it. You don't even think about it much. That's just the way you want to be. Besides, you know they'd do it for you as well. One for all...Either all of that, or you're the founder of your own company and you are passionate about what you do.

I have a co-worker that falls asleep at work everyday at work.?

We all do things at work that we're technically not supposed to do. However, sleeping at work is pretty much one of the worst things you can do. If your boss doesn't do anything about it and it's common knowledge that this girl does it and clearly gets away with it the only course of action that you really have is to go to HR. Be careful though, you may be opening up a can of worms that you don't want. If you go to HR you could get your boss in trouble b/c he/she clearly isn't on top of their job. If your boss gets in trouble for that, it could be traced back to you. Even though things of this nature are supposed to be kept confidential, your boss already knows you have a problem with this coworker and her work habits. He/She could put 2 and 2 together and come up with the conclusion that you were the one to go to HR about it.

Also, you don't necessarily know how your boss is truly handling the situation. Your coworker could have been written up. You may not think anything is being done about the problem, but your boss may be handling it.

I would just sit back and let the coworker do their own thing. They will get in trouble, it's just not your job to get her in trouble.

Why do children have to do homework everyday?

Typically homework reinforces the work that the teacher taught in class that day. The more you study a subject, the better you retain it.

What makes you excited to go to work every day?

There was a time in my career when each morning I woke up with a scary thought of going to office. It was the first thought which would pop in my head as I opened my eyes.By now, I have worked in enough number of companies (five to be exact) to know the difference. Sometimes, it had been compilation of difficult days altogether. But more often, it had been a mix of excitement and non-excitement, no job can offer you excitement each day? No, I am wrong.Job can offer us excitement each day if we are doing the right thing, in a right way! What makes me excited to go to work everyday?Challenges, a job which is challenging and not mundane makes it exciting for me.Good team dynamics, a place where I work and interact with wonderful minds, and learn something each day makes it good.Following your passion, this is something which should be at the top of the list. If you are following your passion and doing something you love, there is no looking back!As for me, I am excited to go to work each day because I have all the three criterias satisfied now. Work hours pass like a breeze, when you are doing it right!
