How Would You Handle This Situation At Glamour Shots

My girlfriend has had a boob job and is becoming a glamour model?

It's best to support her. Let her find out for herself where her career can take her. Don't be too freaked out about her interest in doing porn. There wouldn't be too much difference between doing magazine porn or porn video. Porn mags also show sexual intercourse.

So, she has already told you that doing photoshoots where she has sex with other guys interests her. Let her decide how far she wants to go with that.

--------
I am not surprised that she'll be having sex in her first professional shoot. There are lots of sites out there where women are fully nude. They are generally not considered porn even though they include closeups of vagina's. Any true porn mag assignment would have to include sex. By her answers throughout, she said she was fine with posing for porn. She wasn't really lying, but trying to get you gently used to the idea that sex was part of her modeling career.

What is the best way to handle the sun when you have to shoot in the same direction as it with a DSLR camera?

What is the best way to handle the sun when you have to shoot in the same direction as it with a DSLR camera?I presume you are talking about grab shots or shots of opportunity that have the sun in them, rather than carefully staged backlit portraiture. The sun is so bright that shooting in its direction will fool the meter in your camera every time, and give you results you probably won’t want. There are a couple of ways of handling in-your-face sunlight, however. The simplest and most effective way to handle strong backlighting is to pop up your flash, if your camera comes with one, or attach a flash to it, if it doesn’t.The photo on the left is heavily backlit, no flash. Note that not only is the light very uncomplimentary to the model, but the background is severely overexposed; this photo screams “delete me”. The photo on the right is with a flash on the camera. Not only is the model very attractively lit, the background is about a half-stop better exposed. A keeper! And all because the photographer flipped up the flash! The second option is to “bury” the sun behind the model’s head, then use center weighted or spot metering to get a good exposure of the model’s face. This is a very pretty, hazy light effect, and very easy to do, for a certain type of glamour shot. This time, of course, you leave the flash turned off. That bit of haze is what you are looking for; if you have a subject with less than an ideal complexion, this will soften things up for her. And it looks good on any woman. Finally, if the light serves you lemons, make lemonade!By that I mean, if you can’t get rid of the sun, use it! Pick a lens opening that will give you sun stars, and make the sun star one of the focal points of the photo. Now, every lens in the world will not make sun stars, and of those that do, they usually will only do it at a small aperture, f/11, f/16, etc. But if you have a lens that makes good sun stars, this is one way to handle things. There are also screw on filters that will create sun stars; when I photographed weddings, I used them constantly (they made candles, the glitter from a wedding ring, light coming through champagne glasses, etc. look fantastic).Good photography is all about light. Now you know why photographers get up before dawn, stay out until sundown, etc.; for the light. No great shots are made at noon. Embrace the light. It’s your friend!.

How much do you pay Assistants and Hair/Makeup Artist(s)?

For an assistant/gofer, if they are only doing the basics, it would depend on the shoot. For a normal shoot...$10-$15/hour, if it is a bikini/nude/adult shoot...nothing (it's not hard to find volunteers for those ;-) ).

For a HA/MUA, again it depends on a lot of factors. Sometimes I will work with someone updating their portfolio, so it is "free" (they get copies of the photos). If I am paying, it depends on what involvement they will have. Sometimes they do a one time makeup and their done, other times they may do touch ups or complete makeovers between sets.

Pay for a HA/MUA will depend on their experience and the quality of work. I don't consider $50-$125/hour out of the question (but that is based on all of the above though).

Drum major or section leader?

First of all you need to look at the needs of the band and whether you are a giver or a taker. Some students only see the glamour of the position when in fact the position of field commander has both added priviledge and added responsibility. You wont make a good drum major unless you can handle both of these well around your peers who will generally only see the perks you get.

The demands of the position depend on what type of program your school has. And your ability to lose the daily rehearsal playing will be significant if you arent self motivated to routinely keep working on technique and other skills on your own at home so that you are ready for concert season.

Both field commander/drum major and section leader (especially for the trumpet line) are very important to the band's success. Sometimes the section leader has more impact on the band's success than the person up front. Especially in the section which drives the melody on the field and usually has large numbers.

Are you willing to spend part of your summer getting ready helping the marching staff wherever and however you can?
Do you generally have the respect of the majority of band members?
Are you willing to be the first one at rehearsals and the last one to leave afterwards?
Can you keep comments to yourself that might undermine your staff and your fellow classmates (leadership is a delicate position of compromise and tact)? Remember when things get hard, you are the glue that holds the unit together.
Can you motivate people to be their best?
Do you have the time and understanding to be totally comitted to the music??
Do you have conflicts that would prohibit you from doing a complete job from the beginning of the season until the end?

These questions apply to BOTH positions !! You can be the band director's best asset or his biggest problem, but I think you will be great if your motivation is doing it "for the band."

I think the biggest difference is that when the band is performing and tempos err or the band begins to tear apart, do you have the poise to pull them back together 'on the fly'?? There are no time-outs during the band's show. The person up front sometimes gets the blame or credit - it goes with the job. Can you handle that?
Good luck and set your goals high !

Should I get headshots taken before finding an agent for Commercial work?

I am interested in auditioning for commercials in the near future and was wondering if I should get headshots taken before finding an agent to represent me. I am new to acting and commercial work and have not yet had headshots taken. I heard that often when you hire an agent they want you to get headshots retaken under a photographer of their choice. I do not want to spend money for headshots if I will have to get them taken again. Headshot photos are expensive. Any suggestions? What is the first step when trying to get commercial work? I am 18+ and I live on the East Coast. Thanks for your thoughtful responses.

When a girl sends you a picture of her, how do you respond?

It depends on the bond… I could handle a gaudy pic here and there if they are using it as a form of self-expression or if they are using a funny filter. On the other hand… if they are blasting me with duckfaced 80’s-esque glamour shots because they think they look the Venus de milo… then I might become very busy indefinitely. I might also “lose my phone” and consequently all my contacts (oops). I love people who can joke around, but I am a busy person so my friendships require more emotional depths than whatever their phone’s camera has to offer.Yuck! No thank you please!

Is it illegal to touch a praying mantis?

It is not illegal to touch a praying mantis however if you do decide to handle one be very careful and cautious . By law you are not allowed to kill a praying mantis and there will be a fine . Whether or not this actually happens, if reported I’m sure i you could actually receive a fine . Remember, praying mantises do fly and that could frighten someone while holding one .
