Is it okay to watch any of Stanley Kubrick's films at 16?

the shining is ok for all 16 year olds

spartacus
full metal jacket
paths of glory
lolita
are all ok contentwise for a 16 year old though they might need a longer attention span to watch them.

2001 and dr strangelove are great and ok contentwise but people usually have a negative reaction the firs time they see them so they wouldnt be my first recommendation.

a clockwork orange and eyes wide shut are borderline as far as content. they have a lot more sex and /or violence. some 16year olds wouldnbe ok and some wouldnt

What's your ranking list of all Kubrick films?

These are my favorite in order:1.  2001: A Space Odyssey - This answer sums up my feeling perfectly.  See What are some of the best examples to prove Stanley Kubrick's genius? by Alex Schamenek2.  The Shining - I can watch this movie over and over again.  Kubrick was a genius of making you deathly afraid of the monster behind the closet door.  Every shot, every piece of scenery and piece of music was amazing.3.  Barry Lyndon - Won 4 Academy Awards when it came up but I still feel it is one of his more underrated films.  Check out the article on Wikipedia about how he was able to get the exact lighting effects he needed during filming.  Barry Lyndon4.  A Clockwork Orange - This movie always gets a lot of criticism because of the violence but a lot of people don't realize it was done in an over-the-top way in order to be sarcastic.  I loved the soundtrack's use of electronic music and thought it was a great film.5.  Full Metal Jacket - I LOVED the first half of the film dealing with the boot camp.  To be honest the second half didn't really do it for me but the first half more than made up for it.And to a lesser extent:6.  Eyes Wide Shut - Loved the music and cinematography.  Very characteristically a  Kubrick film.7.  Dr. Strangelove - Hysterical.  Had a lot of great lines.8.  Lolita and The Killing - I liked these films as well but have found that as Kubrick got older, his style solidified more and I don't think these films showed his style that much.

The crow or stanley kubrick's the killing?

The Crow would be my pick but its up to you which type of movie you feel like watching I'll give a little info about each.

The Crow: Came out in 1994 and is an Action, Fantasy, Thriller and is about A man brutally murdered comes back to life as an undead avenger of his and his fiancée's murder. It got 7.6 stars and is a really good movie to read more about it you can go to http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0109506/

The Killing: Came out in 1956 is an Crime, Film-Noir, Thriller and is about Crooks plan and execute a daring racetrack robbery. it got 8.2 stars and is a pretty good movie to read more about it you can go to http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0049406/

I hope that this helps you good luck, have fun, and happy watching :)

Was Paths of Glory arguably Stanley Kubrick's best film?

Yes, but in any decent sized group of people, you’d lose the argument. It’s a distant 6th at They Shoot Pictures, Don't They?, after 2001, Dr. Strangelove, Barry Lyndon, A Clockwork Orange, and the Shining. All of those films are in the top 100 of all time according to the consensus of film scholars, critics, and directors, while Paths of Glory misses the top 250. All but Barry Lyndon have far more user ratings at IMDB, and Dr. Strangelove has a higher rating while The Shining matches it.It’s arguably his best realist (not science fiction or horror) and lesser-seen film, however; experts go for Barry Lyndon while audiences go for Paths of Glory.

Green table in Stanley Kubrick's 'Dr. Strangelove'?

It was for the benefit of the actors, to help them get a better feel for their roles. According to wikipedia: "Kubrick insisted that the table be covered with green baize (although this could not be seen in the black and white film) to reinforce the actors' impression that they are playing 'a game of poker for the fate of the world.'"

Do you think the Coen brothers and Stanley Kubrick are comparable?

I honestly would not be able to cite anything specific, but I can see the comparison. And yeah, tons of references to Kubrick, "The old in and out" was in Fargo I'm pretty sure. I like the Coens wayyyyyy more though. And I heard Inside Llewyn Davis is Big Lebowski-esque, which is awesome

Stanley Kubrick, Scarface, Razzie Award?

Wow, I'm a bit surprised to hear that as well.I thought The Shining was really good, bizarre and scary. It was quite different than the book but the tone and feeling was the same. I haven't seen Scarface yet so I can't say but I have heard that it's really good - it's definitely on my "to watch" list. I certainly don't agree with these Razzie nominations.
If they're some of your favorite movies who cares what other people think!
