How Would You Rate Olives To Eat

How many olives a day would be safe to eat?

As many as you like to a point. No-one has ever died or become ill from eating too many olives in a single sitting as far as I know. In terms of how many you could regularly eat you need to consider fat content, calorific count and for long term regular eating, SALT. Generally speaking, olives are an extraordinarily good & healthful food but they are pretty high in salt - which we need some of regularly, but not too much as it can lead to cardiovascular issues in excess.I’d be thinking 20 or 30 largish EVERY SINGLE day would be ok if you didn’t have high blood pressure. More if you sweat a lot and lose electrolytes. The reality is for most people the salt content instinctively drives how many they can eat…One minute you are just chowing down on those things and the next You suddenly say “oookay. I’ve eaten enough olives for now.” This is because your brain has sent a signal that it’s had enough salt. The oil does not have the issue of the salt so knock yourself out there.

How many olives does it take to make one liter of olive oil?

Ripe olives can yield up to 30% of oil depending on the olive variety, so that's about 3 kilograms of olives per liter (around 0.9kg) of oil.But some high-end brands use up to 15 kg of olives to produce a single liter of olive oil (there's a tradeoff between quality and quantity).Considering that an olive can weigh between 3 and 12 grams, the number of olives should lie between 250 and 5000 olives, depending on how large and on how ripe they are.

Do Italians eat olive oil every day?

You ask: Do Italians eat olive oil every day?Extra virgin olive oil as an ingredient is a pillar of the everyday Italian cuisine, including salad dressing (oil + vinegar + salt), and a product that, as for all countries facing the Mediterranean Sea, is broadly available and not too pricey (compared to, say, sunflower oil).Ordinary olive oil is often used to preserve canned fish (tuna, mackerel, anchovies, etc.), field mushrooms, artichokes, etc. and is seen as a plus compared to the same goods preserved in, say, sunflower oil or maize oil.So, to answer your question: if it’s not consumed every day, it’s probably consumed at least every other day. :-)

If you’ve been eating Olive Garden all your life and you go to Italy, would the food taste better or worst to you?

For me it was much better, not just in Italy but also in restaurants overseas owned by Italians or ones that follow (or try to) the Italian recipes more faithfully. I visited Olive Garden once or twice. They arrived in Brazil in 2014 and the waiting lines of more than 1h made me wonder how the food really was. Many Brazilians also saying that they loved Olive Garden in USA, and there it was good and cheap (in Brazil is considerate fancy and it´s indeed quite expensive). The salad and garlic bread stickers were OK, but not really Italian. The Alfredo sauce tasted tasteless and very heavy, really different than Italian pasta that I tried in Italy, in Italian owned restaurants or even in most faithfully Italian food chains, like Vapiano. If someone (probably American) have been eating the whole life there, probably will find the real Italian food in Italy worse. In Brazil something similar happens often, as many times people that have eaten Brazilian-Italian food the whole life found the Italian food in Italy “not so good as Italian food in Brazil”, even if you consider that the Brazilian-Italian food is not so strongly adapted as the Italian-American food, and specially its version served in Olive GardenWhen I was a child and tried Alfredo sauce the first time I found it wonderful. Back them I didn´t knew many sauces to pasta. Nowadays, after have tried many sauces in many good places, I see Alfredo in the menu as a big red flag in any Italian restaurant anywhere. Many times I was checking menus in the restaurants´s doors, and simply walked away after seeing Alfredo sauce.
