What are good ways to get your mind off things while tending to the things that stress you out because you need to tend to them?

Push ups. Alot of them… it hurts the arms like crazy when you do 10, 20, 30….100’s of them successively… not the causal kind of push ups but Army style professional ones (all the way down to your chest 1 cm from the floor kind of push ups) that makes your arms go screaming and numb afterwards.Trust me… you can’t think of nothing else except trying to catch your breath and wonder why you did that in the first place.Instant stress reliever.Instant mind off anything else.After you recover from the sore arms about 20 mins later, it’s time to cut the procrastination and go back to work on the important things, stronger and with bigger biceps.It works like magic for me, that’s why I procrastinate less and less over time, ironically, so does the size of my biceps.*winks*“Mind over matter, it’s not always that if you don’t mind then it doesn’t matter because when your body is super tired, nothing else matters. How do I control my mind when I can't concentrate on one thing, but thoughts keep flying everywhere? I feel like I want to do everything but am actually doing nothing.

So most of the answers here talked about meditating and similar things. And you could look up on internet on various ways to do it. But the method that really works for me is this. First find a silent place. Take earplugs like in the pic. You could easily get from any medical shop at very low price. Pop them in your ear, press both plugs for 5-6 seconds. Then keeping your back straight or just in normal position , sit calmly with legs crossed. Now what most people who try to mediate , try to focus between their eyes for so long which becomes painful after sometime. But all you have to do it, is close your eyes and start listening to your breath. After 2-3 seconds start counting from 10 to 0 , every time you exhale. And every time you exhale try to loosen up your body and breathe normally, don`t be in hurry . DO NOT TRY TO STOP ANY THOUGHTS THAT ARE COMING IN YOUR MIND, THE MORE YOU ARE GOING TO FIGHT MORE THEY ARE GOING TO INVADE YOU. JUST LISTEN/OBSERVE the breathing, slowly you`ll be able to listen your heartbeats. After your count is over then start again from 0-10. In the beginning try to do it for 3-4 minutes. You could use earphones also but ear plugs are more preferred. How can I get over my husbands infidelity and the things he did sexually with this woman?

My husband of 11 years has cheated on me 3 times with his daughters mother. The last time he cheated he told me 10 minutes before I went to my psychologist. He even told me that one of the days that I thought he was at work, he wasn't. He drove over 7 hours roundtrip to go see her. He came back like nothing had happended that was over a year ago. He told me that he had to come clean and tell me the truth because it was waying on his heart. He has changed and he is trying to do better with our marriage. I' ve forgiven him. I asked him one day recently to write down on a sheet of paper the sexual things he did with her. Every sexual position he did with her I 've done with him. I can't get it out of my mind. Everytime I look at him I think of what he did with her especially when we have sex. I don't know how to move on from this, my husband has cut off ties with her and devoted himself to our marriage. How can I get past the sexual thing and stop thinking about what he did.

How do you get someone out of your mind?

How can I stop sexual thoughts and clean my mind?

This was what Buddhist monks and nuns are taught.I did it and it worked so well I freaked.Imagine someone you fancy as their bodily parts.Now imagine a row of large buckets.Next imagine putting their skin in the first bucket.Put their brain and lungs and eyes and other organs in the next bucket.Put their muscles and sinew and cartlidge and tendons and bone marrow in the next bucket.Now put their blood and mucus and snot and urine and faeces in the next.Finally odds and sods like eyes snd hair and nails in the last bucket.Now ask yourself which bucket sexually arouses you the most.Which bucket contents are the most attractive?This is the body you fancy is it not.Nothings changed other than the arrangement of the bits.The bits themselves haven’t changed in the slightest.Stay aware of the contents of the buckets, allow revulsion to arise.If you need to focus on a particular bucket to create revulsion do it.Don’t worry about the exact content of each bucket.It’s just a tool.Put whatever you want in each bucket.A simpler way is to visualise the person with their skin piled at the side of them.You can then continue this as your meditation.Every time you see someone recall what’s inside the skin, imagine the skin has gone .Every time your mind wanders away or you get distracted recall the exercise and start doing it again with the people around you.This is mindfulness of the parts of the body as they are.I did this diligently for a week or two.All sexual craving ceased as did finding any body attractive.I’d been married for a couple of years by then and I did it as an experiment. It worked dramatically well. But after getting spooked I chose to view my wife as I had before (beautiful) and that was fine.I’d be very interested to know how you get on if you try it.
