Hsc Subject Question

HSC subject selection?

Hey,
I am soon going to be selecting my subjects for my HSC. This is what i have so far:

Advanced English
Maths 2unit
Physics
Chemistry
Economics
P.E

That leaves me with 2 units to go. I don't have a particular career I wish to follow, but I am interested in the sports/science field. I'm trying to keep my options open. I would like to achieve a UAI of 90+ and try to minimize it to around the 75's.

So my questions are, is economics as hard a people claim it to be. I have a few friends telling me that economics is THE hardest test you'll do but it scales well. Perhaps should i opt for business studies, because I am aiming for 1 subject in the business area.

If I choose to go in the sporting scientist direction, will I need biology?

Is engineering studies a good subject?

I am in the higher classes in my year for all of my subjects. I don't seem to struggle in any of the classes and generally do well. I want to hopefully stick with these subjects throughout Year 11-12. I want to know which subjects scale well and which scale bad.

I'm open to all suggestions on any subjects

Any information regarding HSC/Subjects/Scaling/ UAI is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance

Which subject should i drop (HSC), information process and technology (IPT) or Business studies. urgent help?

Do business - it is different from your other subjects and it is something you can use more in life/ when you go to uni. Plus business is something where you can 'bluff' (not the word I would use normally, as it would be another starting with b) your way to the right answer, where I think IPT is more specific. I did my VCE (like HSC but in Victoria, Australia) a few years ago, and wish, WISH i had done some business at high school, as I did a double commerce (business)/ arts degree when I went to uni and would have loved to have had some business background in my first few years.

Chances are that if you are in high school, you have no idea what you want to be, you probably want to go to uni so some understanding and breath of subjects would be best at this stage! And also, make sure you save lots of coin during your final years of high school for a massive blowout party/ trip to reward all your hard work (accountancy 101 rule).

Good luck.

The Questions in hsc board exam , do they only come from the questions given in the book at the end of the chapters ?

No!!Not at all . The questions, surely are from the textbook , but are not compulsorily from those questions in the book at end of chapters. You will have to prepare all the chapters well from the textbook if you really wish to score good.Read the textbook thoroughly. Keep your concepts clear. The questions thatcome in board are 100% “similar” to what you have in textbook but not “ same” . The type of the questions you would be asked in the boards is given at the end of the textbook. Many a times , the solved examples are asked exactly same with change in values only. In maths , mostly (90%) textual problems (solved & unsolved both) are only asked.Hope this helps you:)

Do these HSC subjects scale well?

From what I've heard drama, english standard and visual arts are alright if you do well at them but scale hopelessly if you do bad. Studies of Religion II is suppossed to be pretty good BUT DON'T CHOOSE YOUR SUBJECTS BECAUSE THEY SCALE WELL!!!!! I don't know how many times I've been told this but so many teachers have told me that scaling is a myth and that you shouldn't base your subjects on it. It really just depends on how well you go and how hard you try. Hope this helps :)

How do I study electronics subject for 12 HSC exam?

Well in my days there was no electronics in high school but if it is now you can start1)girls and toppers generally love studies and they prepare before exams so if you have some good friends in girls or in toppers you can learn from them.2) by watching videos on YouTube like if u want to understand transistors just read and understand it's definition in your CBSE or whatever board you study and then search videos on YouTube by the same name and learn ..You will be learning quickly and easily and you will learn something extra from that.

If I reappear for one subject in HSC will there be any repeat mark on HSC certificate?

You can't reappear just for one particular subject. You have to reappear for all subjects if you fail in anyone subject

What HSC subjects should I pick if I want to be a nurse?

Get into science stream first and choosing Biology apart from Physic in the selective subjects would be the way to go. Take note that there will be 3 more compulsory subjects to uptake which are General paper, Advanced Maths and Chemistry AP.

HSC: Should I drop Extension History?

Yess

theres more work in that one unit course than either modern or ancient, which are both 2 units

You have to complete a major assignment, as well as 2 case studies and a whole bunch of readings.

It will eat up so much time it ain't even funny and worst of all it doesn't scale all that great.

Additionally the work is completely different. Its all about historiography, which is the study of history, it's less about facts and the science of how history is constructed and deals with issues about how accurate knowledge is. Its unlike anc/mod and is much more demanding and difficult

Also extension history has some of the highest drop out rates. You will hear of schools with 15 starting students in the class and only have 4-5 in the end.

Its too much work, doesn't scale all that well, is too time consuming in comparison too other subjects, only accounts for one unit and is rather tedious compared to other history electives.

As for not only having 10 units, realistically you'd like to think that your not going to "bomb out", so you really shouldn't need the back up unit. By having the smaller workload you are able to have less classes, more study periods and are able to devote more time to you 10 units, to ensure you do well in those.

Good Luck, remember the HSC is really not that big of a deal. Anyone who says it controls the rest of your life is a fool. I've been outta school for around 5 months or something and nobody ever talks about it, nor do they care anymore. Have fun, cause Uni will be much harder : )

What to do after my HSC? I am interested in biology.?

B.Sc Clinical research
Clinical research is the systematic study of new drugs, biological products and treatment of diseases.
B.Sc Forensic Science
Forensic Science has scope in police department.

But doing biotechnology in good university like SRM, having very good scope.
Make your decision good.
Good luck.
