Do you think manual transmissions will eventually or soon become obsolete?

It depends on what you mean by “obsolete.”Historically manual transmissions had three advantages over the alternative of hydraulic automatics: 1) simpler therefore slightly cheaper to manufacture and maintain, 2) slightly more efficient in terms of friction losses, and 3) manual clutch engagement enables some maneuvers like heel-toe shifts and push starts that are useful in racing and other peculiar circumstances. If by “obsolete” you mean that there are cheaper, better, faster alternatives, then manual transmissions are already obsolete. The very cheapest cars are switching to inexpensive CVT which can be more efficient since they keep the engine at its optimal RPM at all times. Sports cars are switching to dual-clutch transmissions which shift faster than any human ever could. At the mid-tier, incremental improvements have made DCT and hydraulic automatic transmissions competitive in terms of cost and efficiency. Automakers prefer to offer only one transmission to simplify their operations, most consumers prefer an automatic, so if automatics are just as good, the consensus is to use automatics of various types. If instead by “obsolete” you mean that manual transmission cars will no longer be sold; I don’t think that will ever happen. Some enthusiasts seek out manual transmissions because advantage (3) still applies, and for them changing the gears is an essential part of the fun. There will always be a market niche for DIY drivers’ cars with manual transmissions, even if they are slower and more expensive. It very well might dwindle down to only a handful of single-minded track-ready cars like the Miata, M2, and Lotus though.I liken this to sailboats. Sailboats are obsolete in the sense that they are uneconomical and impractical and no one uses them for real work anymore. But there are still a lot of them around, because there is a critical mass of hobbyists who find sailing enjoyable despite the fact that motorboats are objectively superior.

How can I simulate wifi noise in the 2.4ghz spectrum that is similar to a crowded convention center type setting?

As most of the answers have indicated, this is non-trivial to do. You basically have two choices, and neither of them involve a microwave, and which you should do really depends on how much money you want to spend. The easy and expensive solution is something like Spirent’s WiFi ATS (note, you’ll end up buying a lot of WiFi clients too)http://www.spirent.com/-/media/D...This isn’t an endorsement, but rather an example, of a class of products in the test and measurement category. The entire set up will cost you (without an Anechoic chamber) upwards of $150,000.00 in materials which is far more than most people can or want to spend.A less expensive scenario is to simply get a decent number and variety of WiFi bridges.Amazon.com: Edimax CV-7428nS 300Mbps Wireless N300 5-Port Universal Wi-Fi Media Bridge for Smart TV, Blu-ray Players and Gaming Consoles: Computers & AccessoriesThese allow you to convert Ethernet into WiFi rather than plugging into a USB port and then using a Linux system with as many Ethernet interfaces in it as you can manage you can use a traffic generator to push traffic across the WiFi network. Just make sure it supports the ability to specify which interface to use so you can leverage all of them at once. A decent box can push “normal” traffic levels for about 20 bridges if you can get that many interfaces into. A decent card like this Intel is a good choice:Intel Ethernet Converged Network Adapter X710-DA4 - network adapter - X710DA4FHBLK - Converged Network Adapters - CDW.com!Some traffic generators:Ostinato Network Traffic GeneratorSeagull: an Open Source Multi-protocol traffic generatorNow all you need to do is replicate that set up ~10 times and you’ve create the background. All you need now are the APs and clients you want to test and also the scripting to making all of this work together so you’re not trying to log into 10 systems and manually fire up your load generator. This will cost you (again without an anechoic chamber which is important for some kinds of testing) about $30,000.00 in materials. There have been some efforts to model WiFI (and cellular) networks in software, but as of yet those don’t (in my experience) match reality well enough to use for anything more than rough guestimates and the best ones tend to be quite expensive as well.

How do I do load testing of my API calls?

Hi,To be able to load test your API calls, you will need of course a load testing solution but also the proper method.Regarding the load testing solution, as you can see there are many solutions available on the market.Load testing API requires the following features from a loadtesting solution:- support of SOAP, REST, JSON, etc.- integration with Continuous Integration servers- ability to import external datasets- ability to create SLAs- Monitoring of all the different layers of the architecture (OS, webserver, application server, etc.)- ability to integrate with any profiling tools- ability to generate load from the CloudRegarding the methods, it really depends if you are working in an agile environment. Testing all APIs doesn't make sense. That's why defining the scope of your performance testing strategy with a method such as ATAM is important.I recommend that you read the following blog post: Load Testing at the Speed of Agile: Q&A with Henrik RexedIt presents lots of interesting best practices regarding component testing (API testing).Best regards,Henrik Rexed

Marketing on Facebook: My FB ad campaigns have suddenly stopped.  How do I get them back working again?

So many things could be wrong with the account to make your ads stop, it's really hard to say without looking directly at it.The first thing I'd check is if you've reach you ad account spending limit. (learn more here)It's possible that even though you don't have any disapproved ads, you account is under a manual review (mentioned in other answers) This is known to happen and takes 24-48 hours to resolve.Another things to look at is your audience and bid structure. I ran into this with a consulting client a few days ago.Make sure you aren't bidding against yourself in your account. This is unlikely to be an issue with smaller adspends, but as you start to scale it definitely can.If you have multiple campaigns or adsets that are targeting the same audiences, and one is a higher manual bid or one has a manual bid and the other is autobidding, you can run into an issue.Facebook won't let you bid against yourself, so the better ad is the one that compete in the ad auction. This can cause other adsets or campaigns to just stop spending at all. There are all kinds of other reasons a campaign or account stop spending.including: 1. Payment declined/maxed out 2. ads disaproved 3. manual account review  4. Reached spending limit (Help Center)too many to list....======================================== SOCIAL MEDIA ADVERTISING | LEAD GENERATIONIf you want help and support running your Facebook ads, you can request access to the group Adscience.group.It’s a supportive community of business owners, using Facebook ads to grow and reach more people.

Do I still have to ''break-in'' my new cars before I take on high speed on the highway?

If you want the engine to last longer then yes you should break in before travelling at high speeds. While it is possible to reach highway speeds without raising the RPM too much, it is difficult where there is traffic. Also, travelling at constant speed is not recommended at first. Consult your owners manual for specifics. Here is a snip of the manual for a current generation Toyota Corolla as an example. As some have mentioned, some cars are already "broken in" from the factory. The video I have posted below mentions the Acura NSX as an example. This leads me to suspect that very few cars fall under this category. Again, consult your owners manual. This video does a great job at explaining break in for new engines. From the video, in general:1. Don't fully use the throttle (flooring it)2. Don't allow engine to reach excessively high RPMs 3. Don't drive at a constant speed for long periods of time4. Don't drive short distances. When you drive somewhere, it should be a long enough distance for your car to fully reach operating temperature 5. Avoid putting extra strain on the engine (towing or carrying heavy loads)
