How long is keeping a dog in a cage considered animal abuse?
Theres this pitbull and he gets to go outside for breaks every couple of hours but hes in this cage for about 8 hours while hes awake and about 8 hours when hes asleep (about 16 hours total). The cage is big enough to where he can turn around and completely stretch out in there but hes always in there (Im not the person who owns the dog or makes the rules) When is it considered abuse? Is this normal or what?
My neighbor keeps his somewhat large dog locked in the bathroom. Is this considered animal cruelty?
neglect or abuse? Any of these? The poor thing barks in a very high pitched manner when he's in there and the small space enhances the barking. We live in an apartment complex that does not allow pets and I'm assuming he's trying to hide the poor animal from off-site management. Is there anything I can do? We have contacted our landlord because the barking keeps us up at night (two apartments over) but I just feel so terrible for the poor animal and I want those people to be fined or something for allowing these conditions.
Is there a law against keeping a dog in a crate/kennel all day?
Crate training and leaving a dog in a crate for 14 HOURS are 2 different things and so yes, it is against the law. Call your local animal shelter and you can report this anonymously. They will go to the residence and the matter will be solved. You have to speak uo for these animals because they can't do it for themselves. Your call (even if they ask for your name or address) will remain anonymous. They will NOT give that info to the owners. Believe me, I know as I have reported someone over a similar circumstance. Poeple that are gone 14 hours a day shouldn't have a dog to begin with. What kind of life is this for them? Please save them from this torture and make the call.
Is it illegal to keep a dog in a cage 24 7?
a friend of mine keeps her 2 big dogs in cages all day and night 24 7.the only time they get out is 2 times a day when she brings them outside to go to the bathroom and then they go right back in the cages.I told her its mean to keep the dogs in cages and its not good for them not to get out and play and run.she told me oh they like it in there like she would know.she cant be bothers with the dogs but yet she went and bought them.is this illegal?i feel so sorry for these to nice dogs they look so sad in cages inside a house all there lives.
Why does my local dog shelter ethenize every Thursday when they have empty cages?
My husband and I visited our local shelter yesterday. We fell in love with a hound mix that has been there since May 26th. I called the shelter this morning and let them know we were interested but needed a few days to think it over. Since I noticed all the dogs in the shelter had only been there since May or June common sense told me they don't stay there long. I asked the gentleman if they could let us know when her "time is up" or hold her until we decided. He said they euthanize every Thursday and would let everyone know she's off limits this week but we need to decided by next Thursday. He told me the pound was "full" and couldn't promise past this weekend. That was fine with me because I only needed a couple days. What I don't understand is how the pound is FULL when there are several empty cages. There are about 20 dogs in the shelter and all seem super sweet exept for two dogs. Does every local dog shelter make up their own rules or does the State goverment?
