I Accidentally Unistalled Standard Ps/2 Port Mouse On My Laptop

If I open a file on my usb drive (e.g. word document) will it be temporary stored on my PC?

Yes, Microsoft Office documents always work on a copy of the original document,  Where that copy is stored, if memory serves, is determined by one of two settings.  First, if there are no specific setting in Windows or in Office itself Windows attempts to put the temporary document in the same folder that the original is in using a generated name.  If it can't write there OR if there is a specific setting in Office that defines where to put the temporary documents, it writes them to where the setting defines. The real question is whether Word will create temporary files on the USB drive as many apps do not.  Unfortunately, I don't every edit on USB sticks (too high a chance of loosing my work) but you can test where the temp files are by opening Windows Explorer, turning on hidden files ( http://windows.microsoft.com/en-... )open a document from the USB drive and looking at the USB drive using Windows Explorer.  If the temp file is there you should see a file with a section of the original filename and a few other characters to make it unique.  This is the temporary or work file.  BTW, Word uses this file while you are editing and saves it using the original filename where you save the changes.  This leaves the temporary file, deleted but recoverable, at the temporary location. But like I said earlier these behaviors can be changed using setting in Word.

How do I make my keyboard go back to normal?

What is the acceptable data transfer rate between two laptops connected via a LAN cable and how can it be improved? Refer question details.

A 100 Mbps (megabit per second) connection gets you 12.5 MB/s (megabyte per second) maximum (in this case, just divide by 8; 1 byte = 8 bits). If you want more, and both laptops have gigabit network cards, maybe your cable is not good enough - although gigabit should work over Cat 5, it's better to use Cat 5e or higher (Upgrade to Gigabit Networking for Better Performance).I'm assuming you're using a direct cross-over connection, without a switch or router in the middle. I think two gigabit ports on consumer-grade hardware are rare (some have one, some have less). If you have connected both computers to a device that doesn't support gigabit, but independently they both have gigabit, just get a cross-over cable and connect them directly to each other. You will need to provide static IPs (since the router will no longer be on your network to provide you IPs via DHCP).P.S. You're not limited by your hard drives. They should be able to do at least 40-50 MB/s (megabyte), likely more.P.P.S. Actually you don't need a cross-over cable - any cable should work, because modern network cards have auto sensing - they should be able to cross it automatically for you :)

I deleted my usb controllers under "universal serial bus controllers" in device manager with the belief that they would reinstall upon restarting the computer. Instead, my usb (and ps/2) keyboard and mouse are not working now. What can I do?

The keyboard and mouse are generic HID class devices, so ubiquitous that even the ROM BIOS usually supports them. You have damaged something more serious. Lookee here - the second through fourth items are the USB controller hardware. If you disabled that, not even the BIOS can access the USB ports. You need to find a keyboard that works (a serial keyboard) and get into the BIOS setup. You may possibly be able to turn on the USB hardware from there.

What is bad about Mac OS?

I'm a long-time Linux user but my current employer got me a MacBook pro. All in all - it's a good operating system, but there are some things that bug me:You just have to use the mouse all the time! The MacBook touchpad is awesome and I love the extensive use of 1/2/3 fingers gestures to get around the system. However - in the office I use external keyboard and mouse, and I feel that constantly lifting my hands from the keyboard to reach the mouse really slows me down. Here are some of the keyboard shortcuts I really miss:Tiling an open window to the left/right or upper/lower halves of the screen. It's really useful if you read instructions from one window and follow them on anotherSending an open window from one monitor to anotherSending an open window from one desktop to anotherMaximising a window (unlike going to full screen mode using ctrl+cmd+F)Using a keyboard shortcut to open up an application. For example - pressing Cmd+Ctrl+T to open up the terminal (Well, actually there is a way to do it using Automator services, but it's cumbersome). The task switcher is just awful, especially if one app has multiple active windows. I especially see this with Chrome, when pop up windows tend to gather up behind the main window. I can switch between them using “Alt+`”, but neither the dock nor the main task switcher (what you see when you press Alt+Tab) tell me that these windows exist in the first place. I have to do a three-fingers swipe-up (or press Ctrl+UP) to see all open windows and realize I have more running Chromes in the background.Alt+W exits the current active tab. Alt+Q exits the current active program. But in a multi-tabbed program (like a browser) - closing all tabs still leaves you with the main program running. It still shows on the Dock and you can still accidentally switch into it using Alt-Tab. It’s only when you look up to the context menu to realize your program is still open that you can press Alt+Q to properly close it. Why??The concept of Freeware is alien to the Mac world. Remember my complaints about the keyboard shortcuts and the task switcher? There are programs like Contexts and Moom that address those exact issues. However - each costs 10-20 bucks. In the Linux world - I was used to get those for free. Even in Windows the concept of Freeware is pretty common. Only Mac users are used to pay >$1000 for a new laptop and then spend another $100 or so on extensions. But as I said - apart from these nags - It's a pretty solid OS.
