I Always Get Lice But My Family Doesn

Why would homeless people's family allow them to be homeless?

A large number of homeless people are mentally ill or brain damaged and their families cannot deal with them any longer. My own father went homeless after being released from prison for pedophelia, having sexually molested me, my step sister, and a child he was babysitting (these are the ones known, there are probably many others). The family could not deal with him any longer. He was brain damaged from repeated concussions from sports and several car accidents. It's hard to know what caused what. Did he drive so crazy and have bad judgment from brain damage, or did he get brain damage from driving fast and poorly? But it released his inhibitions and allowed him to prey on the innocent.Pedophelia was not the only manifestation of brain damage. He was also irrational and quick to anger. He borrowed or stole things from the family. He couldn't keep a job. He pushed the family towards the poorhouse. It was an attempt to stabilize the family that led to my dad being kicked out of the family home. He was likely 30 by then, living with his parents. He had been lovingly called the black sheep until his conviction. After that we just did not talk about him at all. It's as if we were part of the family by adoption rather than birth. The family kept tabs on where he was and gave him some money occasionally. He eventually was employed enough to rent a tiny studio apartment and buy a beat up bicycle. Rather employed long enough in a union job to get unemployment whenever he was laid off. He lived in that apartment over 10 years  until he died of an illness rather suddenly. He never did admit to having molested me, only saying that he did not remember. Perhaps that is the brain damage, but I don't know how a person could forget a thing like that. It's painful to have a family member who is homeless. When people ask about your family, you either have to lie or become a victim of their pity. It's kind of horrifying, but the family was being ripped limb from limb while he was present so this is the best alternative. It is a relief that he is no longer around.

Someone's visiting my house and has lice! How can my family not get them?

The smartest thing you can do is to run your fingers thru their hair. Pull the hair so you can look at the roots. That is where the lice egg is attached to the base of the hair. It looks like a little round ball. You can't mistake it. It doesn't look like anything else.
Lice are not easy to catch. You almost have to have hair-to-hair contact. No need for chemicals or extreme measures. Putting sheets or pillowcases in a clothes dryer kills the lice.

My friend has lice an i dont know if i should tell her?

Parents: How Did You Get Rid Of Your Childs Head Lice?

TRY THIS!
The removal of head lice from a victim’s head as well as the removal from home and personal items can be testing. The most important part of any lice removal regimen is to treat the victim with a pediculicide . The use of a pediculicide along with careful combing and clean-up will result in successful lice removal.

After using a pediculicide, combing the hair and removing the dead lice and nits is imperative. Use a fine-toothed lice comb to remove the lice and nits by carefully and slowly starting at the nape of the neck and moving forward. Often, sectioning the hair off and moving inch by inch is a successful practice of combing. Using an additional conditioner or detangler may also be helpful in the combing process as many chemical pediculicides can cause the hair to be dry and brittle. Self-medication and self-combing is not a good idea, as a second person is required to effectively comb-out lice and eggs.

Clean-up after an infestation

Cleaning up after a head lice infestation is a tedious, but significant step in lice removal. Wash all bedding and clothing that the victim has been in contact with in hot water (at least 125° F). After washing, run all items through the dryer at the hottest setting for at least 30 minutes. Consider dry-cleaning items that cannot be washed and dried at home or place the items in a tightly sealed plastic bag for 10-14 days. Soaking all hair care items (such as combs, brushes, and hair clips) in hot water (at least 140° F) for at least 15 minutes is usually sufficient to kill any lice or eggs. Thorough vacuuming of the home, mattress, and furniture of the victim is also advised. Using bug bombs or garden insecticides in closed areas of the home is not recommended.

ALSO THIS

If you have a head lice problem, wash your hair w/ vinegar, It'll kill all of the nits and adults in two days. Apply coconut oil to your head after shampoo and conditioner. Also, rub listerine mouth wash on your head, it will kill all the lice instantaniously. Massage your head with mayonaise, and comb and reapply every 2 hours. it will kill all the lice and their eggs. Also applu a mix of lemon and butter on your head, wait 15 sec,. and rinse your head.

I had lice once, and these are all of the things I tried, my friends have gotten lice too, and they tried all of these things, and it worked for them

Is there any solution to get rid of lice and nits ? Edit: I wash my hair daily and comb it to take lice off. But there is no effect of it.

Merely washing your hair will not remove these parasites. Even if you comb your hair, if you are not using a fine tooth comb, it will not help either. Head louse can multiply fast. In fact, they can lay 10 eggs a day. So just imagine how many lice you’ll have in just 2 to 3 days? Head lice can spread from one person to another through direct hair contact. They crawl, and they move pretty fast, but they can’t fly nor jump.Don’t panic. These parasitic insects can be controlled with head lice shampoos. There are head lice shampoos available that really works that it can even kill the nits. These nits are tough to remove, by the way, but if you use a solution that has pediculicides on it, these nits and lice will not have a chance of survival. Some can be used once or twice a week. So always check the instruction. Do not overuse. It may cause scalp irritation. The main reason people think anti-head lice shampoo doesn't work is because they do not treat all family members with it. Remember, Lice move fast. You may have completely washed them away but if haven’t’ washed all your dirty clothes, and bedding, you may catch them again. Lice don’t die easily. They can still live 24 hours after leaving their hosts. What’s even more annoying is that they reproduce rapidly. So, even if you don’t have them in your head, if you have some left on your bed, it’s likely that you’ll suffer re-infestation. How likely is it to get head lice at 23 years old?

I was visiting my husbands family and his little sister came home with a school note saying how two people in her class have head lice. The school nurse had checked her though for it and said she was fine. My husbands little sister has a tendency of jumping around alot on me wanting to play that sort of thing and likes playing with my hair a typical 5 year old lol. I'm wondering how likely is it for me to get lice even though i always wear my hair up and the nurse said she was fine? My head has been itchy but I've always had dandruff so it could be from that I'm assuming

Do black people get lice? If not, why?

Black children, whether they be 'African-American' or foreign national, do host head lice. For reasons no one really understands, the prevalence of infestation amongst black children (at least in North America) is about a tenth of that noted in kids of other groups. The list of proposed explanations is quite long, but these are merely speculative. Some 'explanations' are not worthy of mention, as they seem merely to be biased by racism. Other explanations seem somewhat plausible, but are not necessarily correct. The structure of the hair of blacks is fairly ovoid in cross section, whereas that of Caucasians and others tends to be rounder. Perhaps, the claws of the head lice are better at grasping round hairs. I am not a fan of this 'biophysical' explanation, although it is entirely possible that this difference does play a role. Instead, I suspect that black children are, in general less exposed to head lice. Unfortunately, kids tend to self-segregate and play and interact with kids of their own racial groups. If you rug wrestle with other non-infested kids, you're less likely to encounter head lice. Even more importantly (I believe) is the level of care afforded to the hair by the children's parents. In my experience (I've directly examined more than 10,000 kids for head lice), I've noticed that the hair of black children tends to be shorter (at least in boys) and much better attended (preened, groomed, etc) than that of kids in other groups. If this is true (and this is only an observation on my part), then the parents or care-givers of these kids might more readily find an offending louse on the hair and remove that object. Additionally, certain products are more frequently applied to the hair of black children and adults than to others. Might this have a role in reducing prevalence of head lice amongst black children? Who knows. These are each simply possibilities worthy of consideration. Finally, it is worth noting that this distinction (lower prevalence on black children in the US) does not extend to black children in other countries. Prevalence of head lice on black children can be impressively high in parts of Africa and elsewhere. Being free of head lice can be considered an 'abnormal' condition.
