Does cotton batting shrink?

In 1982 my Mom made a quilt for each of her daughters (I'm one) out of squares from dresses, shorts, aprons, etc. that we wore as we were growing up and things she wore. It was backed with cotton. She used a sewing machine (she didn't have the opportunity like today where you can rent a surger), and so it's just sewn here and there and also three inches around the quilt. It was apparently all cotton. The quilt was cool feeling when needed as well as warm when needed and felt comfortable. The insides "seem" to have been made from cotton, and although the backing has lasted all these years, I admit that I've slept on lumps, and still sleep on lumps of what is left of the stuffing, but have been sleeping on lumps for a long time now. The holes have started, and I've covered it in parts with muslin, the parts that were sewn (like that 3 inches around the entire quilt still have the lumps (since they were sewn around) but those parts where they were not sewn (all over the quilt) in like 3-inch increments are where all the lumps have formed. To show you how important a gift like this is, it's been washed weekly, and it's 25 years later and I still use the quilt daily. It used to be that anything cotton had 2% shrinkage...but look for the package that says it's pre-shrunk. Yes, polyester is always hot, maybe there is a blend you could use. But, maybe it's just better to use the cotton and a lot more sewing on the quilt to compartmentalize the batting. Sewing centers do rent their machines. Here you go to their shop to sew your projects.

Crochet Granny Square is Curved/Skewed?

I'm making a crochet afghan. It's just one big continuous granny square. I'm having a problem with it curving. I'm about 10 rounds in, and I've read that if you turn the granny after each round or after every couple of rounds it will correct the curving problem. I'm wondering if it's too late to start turning after every round or so, and have it still correct the problem? Or am I going to need to rip it all out and start from the beginning?

Thanks!

Question about Christianity Discrepancies?

1) Jesus christ is not a man he is our Lord
Days of the Old Testament when man sins he
deserves to die for his sin , also no one see
God and live that's for man's sins which standes
between man and God, so there were a veil surrounding
the sanctum sanctorum so that when god is there during
the praying , the people don't die but when our lord
Jesus where crucifixing on the cross ... that veil
torned in two peases , that's a sign of how closeness
the man got near to God without dYing

2) God always has the best of every thing , God means love
God hates no one , God gives people million of millions
of chances , every body got equal chances to go to heaven
but you got to have a pure heart .. in other words you got
to have jesus heart cause no one on this earth have a heart
like he is ..

3) Execuse me here , but we are talking about the same God
here the God of the Old Testament is the same God of the New
Testament just in the Old Testament the Jews people didn't
obey God and always worship idol whenever for Moses take his
sign out of them .. i'm giving you an example and you can read more and more examples in the Old Testament of how the Jews
acts againts God , that God had to be hard on them , but through
the New Testament a new testament were made with mankind
and God ..

4)We love every one , we are all brothers from the same father
and mother so if your brother is bad , is wrong about something ,
if different than you , you don't hate him , you may try to him
advices over and over , you might stay away from him , but you
keep on loving him deep in your heart .

5) The father is the begining of all beginings , he is like the sun
you cannot get that near to the sun or you will burn , Adam
sinned the whole human race after him , sacrifices made by
Lambs was not enought for all human sins , so a greater
sacrific had to be made , of course no human were without
faults , so that sacrificion had to be made with someone who is
human and didn't sin , so if God came on earth on his form as
the father , impossible as of his nature as the sun so he send
his only son or the form that we can see and accept to be
sacrificed with His holyghost helps his faithful survents ..

Question for married me please.....?

It is a guy thing. Every once in awhile we all go through little weak moments, and yes, a naked woman is always going to look good to a man, whether he is married or not. It doesn't necessarily mean that he is cheating, or that he no longer finds you attractive. It's just a naked woman. It's just human nature for a man to find enjoyment in getting aroused by another woman who is attractive. Women get aroused by members of the opposite sex as well, it is just human nature. But those feelings can be controlled, and it doesn't mean that he is cheating on you, or that he is going to.

One of the most harmful things to a relationship is not having trust. Jealousy begins to infect you like a disease, and it is hard to get a hold on it if you continue to let it escalate. Ask yourself this, Does he have any reason to cheat on you? Has he shown any signs of cheating on you? My advice to you would be, if it is bothering you this much, to tell him your opinions on it. Talk to him sympathetically, tell him that you know that he has been viewing pornography, and tell him your feelings on it. Tell him that you cannot control what he does, but that it hurts you emotionally for him to do that. Tell him your feelings, and then drop it. Don't continue and continue to bring it up and to start arguments about it, it will just push him away. Sometimes the best approach is one that allows the person to make the decision themselves, and not when they feel forced to do so. It will show him that you respect him, but it also shows him how his actions have made you feel. It will show him how much you love him by not turning it into an argument, but by stepping back and allowing him to make the choice on his own.

But in all honesty, even if he does do this from time to time, It shouldn't change anything about what type of husband or father he is. We all have weaknesses, and weak moments. They don't make us bad people, they just make us human. The only way I could say that this could be a problem is if it escalated into an addiction, or if it started to effect your relationship, or if he was showing signs of being unfaithful. Then it should be taken as a more serious issue. But aside from that, I would look at it as a minor thing, and let it slide. Try to look at the good that he is bringing into the marriage, and realize how minor of an issue this really is compared to some other things that it could be.

Would you ever plant vegetables in your FRONT garden?

I had a neighbour, some years ago, who planted cabbages in his border where most of his neighbours had rose bushes, calendula and red hot pokers etc.

I recently moved house and now have no back garden but, at the front, I have a large garden one side of the path - mostly lawn with a wide border around all four sides and a flower bed the other side of the path so am wondering about doing what he did with my border. Would you think it stupid to do that if everyone around me has flowers and shrubs?

I'm thinking of a tomato plant on each corner nearest the house, with lettuces in the space between those. Then down the 2 long sides have a few cabbages, chives and some onions. On the bottom end, which is deeper I'd like a few potato plants. I would leave the lawn as it is. It has two squares cut out (evenly spaced) which each have a small conifer in them. I might change them to rose bushes but think I'll wait to see how it all looks this year before changing absolutely everything.

Beyond the patch where I want the potatoes is quite a large concrete flat section where I could have quite a number of containers with flowers in. That might make the view from the road look a little more 'normal.

What do you think. Am I mad like my daughter-in-law thinks?
