I Am A Sales Executive Yet Many Times I Feel Like I Am A Delivery Boy Why Is This

Is a pizza delivery driver a decent job?

I'm in high school right now, and I'm looking for a decent job that I can do part time. I like to drive a lot, and I found 2 job postings as a pizza delivery driver. I think it's good too because it's mostly night work and I heard that some can make a killing just off of tips.

I'm just not so sure though......Any thoughts?

Have you ever had groceries delivered to your home?

Oh, the joys of pain killers. Really though, they must be working because you sound pretty cheerful.

None of the grocery stores deliver in the foothills, which is where we live. My mom has had groceries delivered from Albertson's. Safeway and King Soopers also deliver in her area, but Albertson's is just around the corner from her so she uses them.

They charge $9.95 for delivery within 4 hours and $14.95 for delivery within one hour. She only has used it a few times -- when Frank and I are snowed in and can't get to her place, and she can't get to the store on her own.

They assured her they would pick out the best produce, etc. So, if you order romaine lettuce, they'll pick out the nicest one they can find, even though they are all the same price. The manager told my mom that if they didn't do that, people would stop ordering. My mom doesn't have a computer so she just calls them on the phone. They've even called her back and told her something was on sale or 2-for-1 and would she rather get that.

We can't even get pizza delivery where we live and sometimes that would be so convenient.

P.S. Be careful if you find a liquor store that delivers -- you may order more than you should while you are in your "happy place" -- lol.

Employer won't to let employees clock in at scheduled time?

I've tried looking this up several times, but can't find anything on it. My next step is contacting the BBB, but I want to see if anyone else is more educated on the matter.

I am a delivery driver for a pizza company. And basically, about 25% of the time when I show up to work (always on time), the manager will tell me (other employees too) to not clock in cause they "don't need me yet". So I basically stand there anywhere from 10-45 minutes until they need a pizza delivered. On the schedule itself it says "*Clock out times will vary based on sales volume", it says NOTHING about sales volume when clocking in. SO, is this illegal??

I find this pretty messed up because I have to plan MY day around the schedule THEY gave me, and when they don't abide by it and make me just stand there, I feel like its a huge waste of my time.

How do I stop the Schwan's delivery truck from coming without feeling like I'm stealing food from his children?

Every time I tell the Schwan's guy I don't need anything this week, he puts on a pouty face and make me feel terrible. I really wish he'd stop coming, we really don't care for the processed food. He started when we used some gift certificates. Is there a way to get him to stop coming without having that awkward tell-him-to-go-away-to-his-face??

Working at papa johns as a delivery girl?

Ok, lots of questions here. You do get free pizza, but mainly just the pizzas that people don't pick up or pizzas that were made wrong. Hours vary depending on how busy you are. You will work every weekend, and you will want to work every weekend because that is when you make the most money. Summer hours tend to be longer because you don't get busy until after the sun goes down. In the winter you may come in at 5:00 and leave at 9:00 but in the summer you will probably work til 11:00pm. You don't have a set time that you go home, just when the orders stop coming. The store that I work at is not very strict on dress code, but we are independently owned.

You never know how many tips you will get. One night you may make $100 in tips and the next night you might make $10. I have to pay for my own gas where I work and sometimes I don't make enough to pay for gas. On average I would say I make about $6 an hour in tips. You take your tips home each night. The store won't even know how much you made in tips. I also get paid a 7% commision for mileage.

Remember pizza delivery drivers are the 3rd most likely to be murdered on the job. Be careful, since you are female you obviously face more dangers than men. Carry pepper spray and don't take any chances. If you don't feel safe then don't risk it, just go back to the store. No tip is worth your life.

Its a fun job.
