I Am Doing The Mixed Method Surgery For Leg Lengthening Do I Have To Use Crutches For The Internal

I'm 5'10 and I plan on getting leg lengthening surgery to become 6'2 or 6'3. Should I do it?

No you should not. There are so many negatives to the leg lengthening surgery; If you are a very well off person and can afford it, I would still say that it isn’t worth it. It is very expensive but besides that, extremely painful for possibly a year or so; you would be unable to walk without crutches for a long time and then would have to have a very strict regime of therapy and exercise. Even if there are no complications and everything seemingly goes well, for what purpose? You are 5′10″ which is already slightly above average in North America. If you are young and want to do it to be able to join some sports team, i.e. volleyball or basketball, that would be silly as it would take a long time until you actually regained your strength in your legs and muscles for them to actually work and it would be a toss up whether you could become a top player to begin with. It would be an unknown factor because of the surgery. If you want to be appealing to the opposite sex, height is not what makes you a good man or person. If the girl in question likes you, she won’t care how tall you are; she will love you for yourself. If she doesn’t, she is not worth having and believe me, that kind of person would become an ex sooner than later. As my husband used to tell me as well as my brothers who were 6′2″ and above, they used to bump into things all the time, hitting their head so many times on things that they knew about but forgot and did it over and over again. Some of those incidents could have turned into a concussion. They could not enter into places that had low ceilings. If you were walking in a city where a lot of shootings happen, you would certainly be a larger target and easier to hit.You should be happy with yourself, the person you are inside and not worry about height or looks. People will like you for yourself not because you are short or tall. Learn to be content and love yourself.

I'm 6'1" and I plan on getting leg lengthening surgery to boost me up to 6'3"-6'4". Should I do it?

Thanks for asking me to answer this question Thomas Mart.I see an overwhelming majority here with the answers pointing to "No".At the end of the day if you are an adult the decision is yours. In fact, I think the lesson here is that you shouldn't fall into what society thinks you should do or wants you to do. Your decision should be based on what YOU want if you are able monetarily and of sound mind after researching the pros and cons of the procedure. Now the facts are that yes, this procedure is quite extensive, painful and risky but you wouldn't be the first nor will you be the last to do it.All over the world people have done this surgery as normal healthy humans that probably have heard the same thing from their peers...."no, don't do it", etc...Check out some of these references covered by news outlets:Here an individual with a goal of 3 inches decided to do the procedure in Russia where they pioneered the procedure [1]. Another man from New York that had the procedure in Germany gained 6 inches [2].Overall Thomas you are probably going to face a daunting challenge.  Medical tourism is in your favor in regard to the amount of money it will cost outside of the U.S. but again it is your body, your decision. It takes a tough cookie to ask random strangers what their opinions are but I applaud you for doing so.With some education on the dangers, risks, pros and cons, costs and possible results I wish you luck on your decision.Footnotes[1] Tall Order for Leg Lengthening Surgeons[2] Nip, Tuck, Grow! 5' 6" man underwent agonising leg-lengthening procedure because he wanted to be six foot tall

I am 176cm tall.i am considering leg lengthening surgery to grow taller.isit worth it?

Seems have a big turn in a person's life. The external form of a person is ideal in the eyes of the planet when every feature is assembled in flawlessness or very nearly there. Of all of them, height represents an important role.
Height is not just lots is one of the critical standards in plenty of areas: sports, being a part of the security force, wooing someone, obtaining a work or just bolstering one's assurance therefore, if you want to be slightly taller you just have to use this program https://bitly.im/aMiCp , grow taller 4 Idiots.
The combination of proteins with growth hormones, could certainly lead to a taller stature and this really is what you would study on this book, how you can set this mixture used because this system really work for nearly all people.

How pain full is leg lengthening surgery?

Ok first, let me educate you on your body that someone is neglecting to tell you. Your pelvis can majorly impact your leg length. You will feel a bony prominence on your back just above your buttocks. This is part of you SI ( sacro-iliac) joint. If the pelvis rotates backwards and gets stuck in that position, you will shorten that leg. If it rotates forward and gets stuck in that position, it will be longer. So if one side of the pelvis rotates backwards and one rotates forward (which is usually what happens) You will have a large leg length discrepancy, but it is NOT caused by an anatomical short leg. It is caused by a misalignment of the pelvis. Usually it will be anywhere from 1-4 cm( the largest I have correcterd was almost 5 cm). I see this range almost every single day in my practice(especially among people who play a lot of sports!). I will also tell you that 2-3 cm is not very much and should not have surgery to correct it.

So, prior to even thinking about surgery, see a chiropractor. They should be able to correct this misalignment. I will tell you the majority of my patients have equal leg lengths after the chiropractic adjustment(even ones 2-3 cm). I will tell you it is VERY rare that a person truly has a leg length discrepancy. However, there are some. Also, unless it is greater than 2 inches ( not cm) it is best managed by a shoe insert and not by surgery. If you truly do have an anatomical short leg ( which can ONLY be diagnosed with a full pelvis/ thigh, leg and foot x-ray (which I bet they didn't do), then you would be able to manage perfectly well with a shoe insert and have very little problems or pain.

As for people who truly have an anatomical short leg of >2 inches, this surgery will work ( if you are young, but it is extremely painful. Definitely see a chiropractor to correct your pelvis prior to even truly considering this surgery.

I hope this inforamtion helps you. If you would like more information, please feel free to e-mail me at dare2care@dishmail.net and I will be more than happy to provide you with more information.

I relly wish you the best.

I'm 5,1 and am considering having surgery to lengthen my legs so that i can get closer to 6 foot tall?

I didn't even know that was possible!

I would say, be happy with who you are. You are one of a billion woman who are 5'1, so its not like you just stand out and look different! And I know that is not what you want to hear, so my real answer is.......

Only you know how you feel, and if this is what you really want and this will make you happy, then go for it!

After limb lengthening surgery for increased height, do you get to a point when your legs handle pressure like normal people who can run and play football?

A2AI would try to compress my answer for all of the three questions asked by you.As per as my advise is concerned i wouldn’t suggest you to go for limb lengthening surgery. It can take several months just to walk.Your Legs would be purpusly broken in order to increase your height.Limb Lengthening surgery is painful and is controversial. It has been banned in few countries and is very expensive if you are considering USA as an option for surgery. You have to learn to walk again(just imagine). You will become handicap in away.It involves strategically breaking the tibia, or shinbone, and then slowly separating the ends of the broken bone over a long period of time. As the body tries to heal the break by creating new bone, the fracture is extended yet again and the body creates even more bone in the gap.Doctors extend the fracture by a tiny amount several times a day, only a millimeter total each day, until the desired length is reached. The trick is to do it slow enough so that new bone continues to grow, but fast enough that it does not heal entirely. There are several risk involved in it:-It include stretching the blood vessels and nerves around the bone more than they can endure, which could result in long-term complications. It involves the breaking of a perfectly good bone, possible risk of infectionUnimaginable painRisk of side effects of pain killersFurther in your old age you would be facing a lot of problems relating to your bonesI would recommend the procedure for you only if you are physically and psychologically prepared. So,why not try any other Height Increasing Process which includes a proper diet and and a group of exercises.I have seen people have increased height after they have crossed a certain age limit when there are no chances of increasing heightYou can check my previous post on how my own brother has increased his height:-Andrew Richard's answer to I'm a 17-year-old boy who’s very stout, I weigh 100kg (220 lbs.) and I’m 5′ 4″ tall. How can I grow taller faster?See More:-How To Grow TallerGood Luck

Is there any way I can lengthen my legs without surgery?

I really would have no idea how. I mean, to my knowledge bone can be conditioned to make a change, like the skulls they had found at a couple locations during a dig. They were elongated. In today's world I understand that is done. This is done by banding the head as soon as possible after birth. But still to bend a leg bone would be different than stretching it. (And I am thinking when a person is young) As an adult, I think what you have is what you get. I mean a bone isn't just a bone. There is an awful lot going on there. So to my knowledge (Not being a doctor) you really cannot lengthen your legsI have got to ask what it is you wanted to accomplish?Best of luck to you. Take care, Don

What is leg lengthening surgery? Is it safe? What would be the overall cost to undergo such a surgery in India?

The technique is known as distraction osteogenesis. It’s a fairly dangerous surgery where they break your bones and then secure them slightly farther apart to let them heal longer. The healing process can take from 6 months to a year. The use of distraction osteogenesis for leg extension was pioneered by Gavriil Ilizarov who developed devices like the one shown above that keep the broken bone separated close enough to heal but far enough away that they’ll heal taller. Those white pad looking things are actually covering up pins that go directly into your bones keeping the bone apart. There is a newer system known as Precice II that is completely internal and adjustable with an external device. Most surgeons who will do this procedure recommend only a 5cm increase. Increases beyond 7 cm could stretch the soft tissue past their point of elasticity causing permanent damage. The risks include:PAIN, lots of pain during the procedure and after.Infection, especially with external methodsScars from pin insertion and the surgery to break the legNon-Union, where the bone doesn’t heal longer. This happens if they stretch your bones apart too far too fast If this happens it could require additional surgeries to graft your bones.Damage to blood vessels and nervesPremature healing, this happens if they don’t stretch them apart fast enough, making it not reach your expectations.Weakened bones — when bones heal completely they’ll match the rest of the bones around it even if the initial callous is a bit tougher than the surrounding tissue. The problem is that while your bones are being stretched you cannot put pressure on them. When no pressure is placed on your bones they become sparser. When the procedure is done your bones will have lost quite a bit of mass and will be at risk of breakage.Healing at an odd angle. This is a rare risk, but it’s possible that the device becomes misaligned and the bone doesn’t heal straight.I don’t know how much it would cost in India, but it comes in at around $100,000 in the US.It's typically only used for fixing significant differences in leg length that aren't easily correctable through orthotics, but it can be used to increase height if the patient is deemed able to handle the financial and psychological difficulties related to the surgery.

I'm tired of being short =( Should I get the limb lengthening surgery?

Ryan, I have noticed that Y.A. is full of guys asking if they're too short. I have seen about ten guys ask "I'm only 5' 6" or "I'm a 19 year old male and I'm only 5' 4" on a weekly basis. If we are seeing so many questions like this, what does it tell you? Maybe that the human race is changing and the average height is coming down? Look at this:
"American men are now significantly shorter than men from countries like Denmark (6-footers) or the Netherlands (6′ 1″). In fact, American men and women are now shorter, on average, than the citizens of every single country in Western and Northern Europe". ~ American Health and Wellness Study.
See? You may want to reconsider leg surgery and just run around with the rest of us Hobbits.

Has anyone had limb-lengthening surgery on their legs done??

I WOULD NOT do it! I have a friend that is 4'11 and lots of guys think she's beautiful and she is confident the way she is. The surgery is risky, costly, and VERY PAINFUL! It just isn't worth it for an inch or two! That's crazy! I'd wear sandals with a bit of a heel this summer instead. Also, they make special things to make you appear taller to put in tennis shoes and I belive you can get them at a specialty shoe store (for people with foot problems). Please don't get this surgery. Like I said, lots of guys like petite girls! It's almost easier than being really tall and towering over most guys! If you wear sandals with like a 2 1/2" heel then you'll be like just over 5 feet if that makes you feel better. Please learn to be more confident, get conseling if you need to! GOOD LUCK!
