How do Fijians feel about Sikh people? Do they know a little about Sikhs or will they turn racist seeing one?

Bula,I am a native Fijian, born, bred and living in Fiji.I cannot tell you how all Fijians feel about Sikhs, but i assure you we will not be racist upon seeing one. We are actually quite warm and accommodating of other ethnicities and cultures. In my opinion, what friends of other races may be referring to as racism stem from 2 things:Misinterpretation of comments - you see, the South Pacific Islanders can be some of the friendliest people you meet; we love our food, enjoy a good laugh and live a laid back lifestyle (which is quickly changing due to modernization). Jokes for momentary fun are sometimes taken completely out of context and become a racist remark. These are not really intended to offend, but most Fijians are quick to apologise if you indicate any trace of offense. So if you are honest enough to tell them you’re not happy with a joke everyone’s laughing about, you can be sure they wont repeat it :)Older generation living remotely- most will give you an expression that may make you uneasy but please understand that sometimes most of our grandparents, great grandparents are seeing someone like you for the first time :). They are simply surprised , so please give them sometime to adjust, because they will and you may even enjoy their chats from time to time.In addition, there are Sikhs in Fiji although i cannot tell the difference between Sikhs and Punjabi's, still i wouldn’t attack a Sikh if i see one.Fiji is more modern than most people who haven't been here think. Its the hub of the South Pacific and should you decide to visit, i’m sure you will have yourself too good a time you would find it hard to leave :-)I hope this has been informative enough to help you.Vinaka (Thank you)

What makes Fiji water so special?

Not sure if it's special or not, but it's clean and tastes good. All these people on here saying drink faucet water , bottled water is a waste, your water is fine and etc etc  well, I have a very close relative in my immediate family who works for the water Dept in a pretty good size city. These facilities throughout the city control the water in the whole city, what runs out of your faucet. They treat the water with all kinds of chemicals..your drinking water that is “safe” . No. This water is not safe, where do u think the water that comes out of faucet comes from? This water is dirty water, it is cleaned and cleaned and cleaned, being clean is only as good as the tools you use. My “person” has told me, NEVER DRINK CITY FAUCET WATER EVER!! They dump these chemicals in it that have skull and crossbones in it..to clean it? I'll never drink a glass of contaminated water from the faucet and will never drink aquafina, disani, etc..I do not want tumors and cancer, no thank you. Believe what you want, but I personally know people who waded through drinking water in rubber boots combing and dumping chemicals throughout. America doesn't want us healthy..they want us all diseased and sick..so drink the water if you dare! There are so many corrupt things out there we do not know about what their sneaking in our stuff we ingest, it's crazy. As long as a group doesn't get sick all at once and die. I mean your body can handle these more then trace amounts of chemicals I'm sure, but over time, there will be consequences and most people will not connect the two.

My daughter wants to know her father but its complicated.?

When I was 19 I went to New Zealand while working in Fiji with the peace corps. I met a guy there. He was from Wellington but he stated he would be moving to Australia to work in fly out job in Queensland. We decided we would just have fun but once we both left New Zealand there would be no stress to maintain a relationship. It was stupid but I had unprotected sex with him a few of the many many times we had sex. I found out I was pregnant a few weeks later. He was the only guy I had been with within that year so I knew it was his. I emailed him and he never emailed me back. I didnt tell him I was pregnant I just wanted to talk. I had my daughter and raised her. SHe is now 14 and she wants to know her dad. I knew his name so I did a quick search of him and found him on facebook pretty quickly. He lives in Australia still but is now married and has two kids. I asked to be his friend on facebook he accepted it and even said hello and asked how I was doing. I havent answered him back. But now I am not even sure I should say anything. I have thinking of just telling my daughter I couldn't find him. My daughter has a step dad that has raised and loves her. He has his own family. Why stir the pot? Am I wrong that this may be better for all parties?

Spiders/tarantulas in Fiji?

Tarantulas are generally harmless, thats why you can have them as pets. They have multiple other defense strategies before biting, and are usually docile. I'm sure while there you will probably see people picking up wild Tarantulas. There defense methods are using there back legs to rub the fine hairs off of there abdomen into your face, or try and flee before biting. None of the true tarantula are known to have a deadly bite. They just look scary.

The spiders with no hair are the ones to worry about. More aggressive, and will bite if threatened, instead of doing what a tarantula would do.

Evian water or fiji?

Actually, PENTA water is better than either of them but I'll drink any of it if someone else is buying. If both evian and fiji are out, I'll reach for the evian water though PENTA is my water of choice.

I get PENTA water at my local health food store. Here's a website on it:
