I Am Good At Angering People. Unusually Good. Is There An Upside To This

What are some things most people don't know about you?

What do most people generally not know about you?I am fortunate and grateful. I am also sort of an old hippie. My husband and I have been married for 36 years. We met in 1978 and have been together ever since. 40 years and forever. He is my best friend. My beautiful mother is my other best friend. When I was four, my only sibling, a sister named Laurie, passed away at almost two years old of spinal meningitis. I loved her. She was my real life doll. I helped my mother take care of her and I loved that role.I've lived in three provinces in Canada. My family moved from Toronto to Calgary in 1973 when I was 10. My husband and I moved from Calgary to British Columbia in 1987 and have lived here ever since. Now that she is retired, my mother lives here now too. Fortunate!I bought and owned a clothing consignment boutique for four years and then sold it. It was great fun, hard work, and taught me a lot in many ways. I had two wonderful employees and another not so wonderful one that ended up robbing me ‘blind’. I was literally blindsided. She had been like a daughter to me before that. The experience shook me. When I had to fire her (the only person I ever fired), we were both crying so hard we couldn’t look at each other. I never saw her again. It was so sad. I was depressed for some time after that.Mostly though it’s music. I love music, or need it more like. Rock mostly but the blues are great too. The Beatles were where my love for music began. I was devastated when George Harrison passed away. He seemed such a lovely and authentic soul. Noel Gallagher (from Oasis), The Stones, Eric Clapton, ELO and Bob Dylan are all favorites……but Tom Petty…well, Tom was the absolute best. I am shocked that he is gone and still not over his sudden passing. Thank goodness for all of the music he left behind. Thankfully, music is forever.(Honorable mentions also to fellow Canadians Neil Young and Gordon Lightfoot. Two more seriously great artists).Cheers for reading ❤️

Were the guards in the Stanford experiment bad people, or was it the environment?

Power corrupts.Good people were put in an evil place and the evil place won over the good people.I strongly believe that the (24) students who participated in the SPE were good people. They didn’t start as cruel and sadistic people; They were simple students who lived near the Stanford area and liked the idea of participating in a social experiment and simultaneously earning $15/day. (That was about 90$ in 2015)The experiment started with 9 prisoners and 9 guards with the other 6 people on call in case they were needed. The guards and prisoners had to get used to the new roles they were playing. None of them seemed to take the first day very serious.Unexpectedly, the next day a prisoner (#8612) started to rebel. The other prisoners followed his rebellious behavior and started to taunt and curse the guards. This very much angered the guards and that’s when the guards, as revenge, began to generally harass and intimidate the prisoners.[1]Thus, the guards suddenly saw the prisoners as troublemakers who were out to get them, who might really cause them some harm. In response to this threat, the guards began stepping up their control, surveillance, and aggression.Suddenly it was no longer just an experiment, no longer a simple simulation.According to SimplePsychology people will quickly conform to the social roles they are expected to play. Especially if the roles are as strongly stereotyped as those of the prison guards. The prison environment was an important factor in creating the guards’ brutal behavior. Therefore, the findings support the situational explanation of behavior rather than the individual behavior of the Guards. Also, just something I wanted to add, not all guards turned evil. There were three type of guards:[2]Good guards. These guards did little favors for the prisoners and never punished them. They hated to see the prisoners suffer but never intervened with the ‘bad guards’.Tough but fair guards. These guards followed the prison rules.Bad guards. These guards were hostile, arbitrary, and inventive in their forms of prisoner humiliation.Hope this helps, it was nice reading into the experiment again.https://web.stanford.edu/dept/sp....Footnotes[1] 5. Rebellion[2] 8. Conclusion

Why do people see revenge as a sign of weakness or immaturity? I think it helps heal pain faster.

So this girl was interested in me, but I wasn't interested in her.Rather than taking it as a normal human interaction, she took it too personally. She vowed to destroy my political career and reputation. She was going to have her revenge.I didn't pay any attention to her.She actually moved to my town.I didn't even know she did that. I met another girl. The revenge-seeker would message every person who commented on my Facebook post and tell them tall tales about my womanizing.I had no idea she was doing that. The new girl and I really hit it off.The revenge-seeker started reaching out to people close to me. She’d show up at events I was at and tell people I interacted with how terrible I was.By now people started telling me, but I didn't really care. Instead, I fell in love with someone. The revenge-seeker started sending notes to my fiancée about my alleged infidelity.I still didn’t pay any attention, I was too busy proposing. The revenge-seeker joined organizations I was part of.I still didn't notice. My fiancée and I were too busy planning our wedding. Two plus years later her pain is still raw and she is still angry. If anything, she is angrier because she wasted years of her life.On the other hand, I met someone, got engaged, got married, and am happier than I ever thought I would be.Revenge (planning, executing) does not help you heal faster. It does the opposite by preventing you from moving on.Trying to get revenge to feel good is like trying to chop off your leg to avoid scratching your leg.

Prince Albert piercing... HELP!?

I was just discussing PA piercings with a friend earlier. He didn't mention them sexually. He did however say that he stretched the piercings and that he now looks "kinda weird" so that might be worth watching out for, but he did mention that it took over a year for both of his to heal.

Why do autistic people laugh for no apparent reason?

I have a 5 year old autistic son who is non-verbal. He, like many autistic children, will sometimes start laughing long and hard for no apparent reason. Are there any autistic people out there who can shed some light on this? Is something actually funny, or is it just an undirected urge to laugh?
