I Am Having Chest Pain When Lying Down And Sleeping. What Is Going To Happen I Feel Like I

Chest pain then random dizziness and pounding heart and feeling uneasy?

A couple of things about your post. If your chest hurts when you inhale, this is usually muscular in origin and taking some motrin regularly for about a week may make this go away. It comes from inflamed muscles in your chest wall from repetitive movements that you do with your arms such as physical exercise, something you do at work or lifting. Next, about your heart pounding when you lie down - have you learned how to check your own pulse to see what your heart rate might be at this time. If it is over 120, then there may be a problem. As for the Holter Monitor - unless you have one of these episodes while you are wearing the monitor, they would be unable to capture any irregularity/fast heart rate so, since it is negative this time, still doesn't mean that nothing is happening. And, since this is occuring more frequently now, anxiety could be a component to this - wondering each night if this is going to happen again which can bring on the symptoms. You might consider a trial of an anti-anxiety medication, just to see if it makes your symptoms go away. It takes an average of 12 weeks for these medications to work and be fully effective. If you see no change after a few months (past the 12 week period), you can talk with your doctor about weaning back off this med. Go to WebMd.com and type in anxiety attack and panic attack (both have similar symptoms) and read up on what it can do to the body as far as symptoms go. And finally, continue working with your doctor to get this resolved.

Tight chest pain when sleeping, laying down and slouching?

I'm 14 and have been having really pain full chest pains for a while now. I used to have acid reflux, I went to the doctor and they gave me medicine for it and it went. but a couple months on from then I've been getting different feeling pains on the left side of my chest, in my heart. it feels really tight and it's hard to breath. but I take gavisgon and it goes. I get woken up, mostly every night now, at about 2/3 in the morning. I sometimes get it in the evenings when I'm lying, or even just slouching in my chair. also, my family has history of twisted organs (don't know the medical term), my grandad had twisted lungs.
could there be something wrong with my heart? :/
thanks

Pain on right side of chest with deep breaths, yawning, laughing, lying down?

I would guess that if you put pressure on the little areas where the ribs join the breastbone - more in the middle of the chest, that you would feel even more pain. The symptoms you are describing are most likely a condition called costochondritis - is an inflammation of the joints that join the ribs to the breastbone. These are very small joints made out of cartilage. It explains that when you take deep breaths, yawn, sneeze, cough - you get that very sharp pain. If you lie on your stomach, there is no way that you can sleep. It can be caused by: a virus, coughing a lot, some sort of trauma or nothing.

The good news is that in most cases it will go away within 6 weeks. The basic treatment is - NASAIDS - things like Aleive, Advil or Aspirin is extremely effective if you are not allergic. Ice or heat may also help. Other things, no heavy lifting of any kind, that includes book bags or backpacks - 7lbs or less.

If there is no improvement after a couple of weeks, most definitely go and see your doctor.

I feel pressure on my chest when I am laying down sometimes, what could this be?

I have had this happen during high stress times. It will go away when the stress does.

Weird chest pain feel like I need to vomit or something?

You'd have to get it checked out by a doctor to find out for sure what's going on, because there are many possible causes of this, but the most common cause for this kind of chest pain at night while lying down and either vomiting or feeling like you are about to vomit, is nighttime heartburn, also known as acid reflux or GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease). The problem is caused by acid that is in the stomach and used to break down food; with reflux, acid backs up from the stomach into the esophagus, which is the tube that runs through the chest between the mouth and stomach. The stomach has a mucous lining which protects it from being burned by the acid, but the esophagus does not and can be burned by the acid, which causes the kind of pain you report.

If acid reflux is what is going on with you or your brother, this can often successfully be prevented or treated by diet modification including what time you eat and what foods you eat, sleeping position (using more pillows to elevate your upper body), or by taking acid reflux medication, some of which you can get at the drugstore without a prescription, and others by prescription.

This is a *very* common medical problem including in young people.

Here's a quick article on it with suggestions:

Websearch acid reflux or GERD for more information. See a doctor to get it checked out for sure, especially if you try the suggestions in the article and they don't help, because as I said, there are other possible causes for your symptoms. This is just the most common one.

Wishing you good luck, good health, and quick relief from this.
