I Am Looking For A Poem To My Parents On My Wedding Day

Poems for my dad on his wedding day from his daughter?

This is a lovely, slightly more respectful than 'cuddly' poem, which I think would be lovely from a daughter to her father - I'd read it to my dad if he were in that situation:

'Now you will feel no rain' (Apache song)

Now you will feel no rain,
for each of you will be a shelter to the other.

Now you will feel no cold,
for each of you will be warmth to the other.

Now there is no loneliness for you;
now there is no more loneliness.

Now you are two bodies,
but there is only one life before you.

Go now to your dwelling place,
to enter into your days together.

And may your days be good
and long on the earth.

I think this has just the right mix of simplicity and elegance. The simplicity of the words and the depth of meaning almost makes me cry when I read it. We put this in a card for our friends, written in calligraphy, and they reacted in the same way as I always do. People will love this, trust me!

Need poem to parents on wedding day?

This is the time for thanking both of you:
Heaven seems nearby, our hearts are full.
All the days and nights of patient love,
Needing rest, the endless push and pull,
Kisses, wisdom, kindness--all on cue!

Years have turned, and now our time is due:
Other lives will be our tongue and groove.
Underneath's your love, still warm as wool.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today is the wedding
Of more than just two.
We always do something
Far more than we do.
Today is the birth
Of a new family:
One that will fashion
The one I will be.
And so as we welcome
A new man and wife,
I welcome a father*
Whose love changed my life.
I welcome a future
Together as three:
My mother and father
United with me.
*Feel free to change to "mother."
What are some good gifts I can give my parents on their 25th anniversary?
Hi Ajaisha,I hope I am not late in answering!My best wishes to you and your parents on completing 25 years together.Now coming to your question, I would tell you what I did for my parents on their 25th anniversary.Back then, I had a low budget yet big plans. So here's what I thought. I involved the extended family. I went to all my family members who were present in my parents wedding 25 years ago as well as the new members. I took their interviews ( blessings, wishes, past incidences were all recorded). Then I compiled some of their childhood, youth , married and recent pictures. Made this all into a short and sweet bollywood movie with lots of music and melodrama and kept it as the BIG SURPRISE.But that's not all, my budget allowed me to plan a few more other things. So I secretly called everyone close to a small get togather in the evening at my house and asked my mother to arrange for a holy gathering (bhajan kirtan) with all her ladies at our home. But I also told her I will get a tent( INR 1500) installed outside our house for their gathering.I bought my parents new clothes saying we will go for dinner at night. While my mother was busy in her ' Kirtan', I called a mehendi wali(INR 250), bought flower garland and asked a DJ (INR 2000) & Dhol wala(INR 500) to come in the evening.Once the kirtan was over, my mother went inside to relax for while. While my father watched TV. I pretended to be busy talking on the phone outside. By 7.30Pm people started gathering and were seated on the few chairs inside the tent.And so , when everyone was ready, I asked my parents to go out and wait for me and the moment they stepped out. They were showered by flowers by all the guests outside. It was truly an awesome moment. They blushed like young couples. We made them exchange garlands, do couple dance, sit for family pics with the couple and what not. So basically they renewed their vows again after 25 years and fortunately I was the witness!The grand surprise ( the video) was played on a laptop sadly I could not afford a projector and was cherished by all.I had also arranged for dinner (buffet) (INR2500) from a local vendor and of course this could not have been possible without the help of all my brothers and sisters.:):)
Honoring deceased dad on wedding day.?
21-f
I lost my dad last year Oct 18 2012. I just recently got engaged and we are planning on having our wedding in August of 2014. I am trying to find the perfect balance of remembering him and having things to honoring him on my special day and not making everyone including myself super depressed. Since it is still very hard for all of my family to think about I don't want to be bawling on my wedding day or bring anyone down. I have already purchased a charm to put his picture in for my bouquet. But I would like other ways that I can honor him without it being honoring everyone else who has passed I have a candle that I will have lit at the reception for that.
I feel like any images other than the tiny one on my bouquet would ruin my families night and make it hard for them to have a good time and celebrate rather than mourn. I was planning on putting pictures on the guest book table of him and my family when we were younger but i'm unsure.
We are having our wedding outside and I want him to be honored in both the ceremony and the reception. I found a poem I liked but I am not sure where to put it if I choose to use it so if you could help me with ideas for that to it would be great! Thanks!
Dear Lord please clear a spot for him:
he should have the perfect view.
His little girl's a Bride today,
and I am counting on you.
Let me feel his presence;
as I journey down the aisle.
But let me notice his absence;
if only for a while.
Let me stop to think of him;
As I am given away.
And know that if he could;
he would be here with me today.
Dear Lord please clear a spot for him;
he should have the perfect view.
And if he should get sad today;
Dear Lord I count on you.
Mom is getting married, I need a poem?
From the day we were born we were loved and adorned
Through all the years, you showed us love, and taught us right from wrong. You wiped out tears, and shed our fears.
Now that we are older, we not only have a mother but we have gained a friend. So as of this day mother, may all your dreams and wises be yours. We welcome ___into our family as the two of you start your life husband and wife.
