I Am Looking To Buy A Used Car. This Will Be My First Car. I Am A New Driver Late Bloomer .

I Am Tired Of Being The "Late Bloomer" In Life?

My parents constantly call me that. I'm 21 never had a boyfriend, still a virgin was seen constantly as annoying by my peers so I eventually stopped trying to make friends all together. People don't see me doing normal things my age like going to parties, or driving a car, they think I'm mentally slow. I'm sick of this, I can't even talk to my parents about this anymore because they tell me its all my fault, my choices, my consequences, they don't listen to me remember how much I was teased for my weight, how many boys psychically struck me not considering me a girl, how many people I still irritate to this day (people YOUNGER than me still tell me to go away and that I need to go somewhere else because I constantly say the wrong thing.) Its frustrating, its lonely, and its embarrassing, people constantly ask me "how old are you?" when I told them I didn't have my license til a few months ago, or that I didn't get my first actual job til this summer. My parents just won't admit I'm a loser, its why they hang up the phone on me when I cry because all my suitemates have boyfriends who are constantly here all the time at the same time, and the only two boys who claimed to like me where just using me for sex (trying to.) I have honestly considered suicide more than once, my YOUNGER brother gets more attention than I do, has had several relationships to my NONE, and is the popular one. I am ready to give up right now.

Should I feel ashamed for being late to learning how to drive a car at the age of 22?

No. Delaying learning to drive reduces your chance of dying or killing someone in an accident. Cars are money sinks. I'm almost 50 and have never owned a car. I learned to drive when I was 16, crashed my mum's car when 17 and was barred from driving any of the family cars ever since. I do drive, and I am a very careful and attentive driver. But I only ever rent cars when I need them. I doubt I'll ever bother to own one. Okay maybe I'd buy a Tesla some day. Or an Apple Car. The reality is that driving will soon be something that cars do themselves. Drivers licenses will become a relic of the past. By not learning to drive you are just ahead of the curve.

Are there any successful race car drivers who did not start driving when they were very young?

With all the drivers I know of, it seems like they could drive before they could walk. Are there any that started out relatively later (like maybe 15 or 16) but still made it in pro racing?

How old were you when you got your drivers license?

I put off getting my drivers license for 10 years. I was 26 and was too lazy to get my drivers license before then. I guess I had it made; my husband drove me around like he was my personal chauffeur. It was pretty great, actually.

He got tired of it after a few years, though, and started putting pressure on me to get my license, but it didn’t really motivate me. The thing that motivated me was that I wanted to take some college classes and everyone was too busy to take me to my classes; I finally decided to learn how to drive.

Now I’m so glad I have the freedom to get in my car and drive myself wherever I need to go. It’s also nice not being a burden on my husband who had to drop everything just to take me to the grocery store.

I am in my late 20s and feel I have wasted a lot of time. Is it too late for me to achieve something worthwhile?

When I turned 27 I was:Unemployed, had been for a yearSleeping on a friend's couchPainfully singleWondering if it was too lateI had:No hard skillsNo work experience worth repeatingCollege grades that didn't open grad school doors I wanted to walk throughScant motivationNo directionI asked my dad for advice and he said: "You can't steer a parked car."I stopped thinking about what to do and started doing.  I refocused my search on small growing companies and after a dozen rejections I applied for a customer service job at a company I'd never heard of but that seemed interesting. A week later I was working at Bonobos (company) with 25 smart, fun, engaging people. I chipped in on work in different departments and eventually found an application for my natural skills in a career path I hadn't anticipated.  At 29 I'm a beginner in a new role.  It's fantastic.I can only recommend what I've done: Find some fertile ground. You'll figure the rest out later. There are tons of young companies looking for people who are energetic and capable, but most importantly they're looking for people who care.  Startups require hard work and long hours but if you care about the mission and the quality of your work it'll feel more like a lifestyle than a job.You only have to be lucky once. I was. Maybe you will be too. There's only one way to find out: Take the car out of park and step on the gas.

I've tried a couple times to get my daughter behind the wheel of the car to start training her how to drive but whenever she gets in, she almost immediately starts to have some sort of panic attack. She already takes meds. What should I do?

Hi Doug, your question is a very valid one, we have had very similar experiences with our own children. My best solution is based on the fact that each of us has lies hidden in our minds that we hold for the truth. If we can identify the lies and receive truth about them, our lives will change we will be empowered to deal with our problems more objectively without becoming emotionally triggered.Trained facilitators are needed to guide your daughter to follow her emotions to the memories of incidents from early youth where lies were received that are now held for the truth and that cause her panic attacks. These may be as far back as pre-birth, so you will understand that we need to rely on the guidance of the Holy Spirit to identify the incidents where these lies were planted in our minds. Her life will become more meaningful and she can experience perfect peace in all circumstances if she is prepared to follow her emotions until she identifies the lies that are subconsciously bothering her and allows Jesus to bring His truth to her.Once this happens she will experience the sustainable solution for anxiety and will be able to handle most situations objectively and stress free.To find out how this works, Google for the website of Transformation Prayer Ministry (TPM), then take time to see how the process can help your daughter.Consider ordering and studying the book “Effortless Forgiveness” by Ed and Joshua Smith, details of which are also available on the site or, if you are in South Africa, find the South-African site for TPM where you will be able to connect with facilitators who are trained to help you.
