I Am Planning On Joining The Air National Guard

Joining Air National Guard while in college?

Only you can decide which is a better fit for you, but I will tell you the ANG is very college-centric and offers a lot of college benefits. I am very partial to the ANG as I have been in for 7 years now and went 4 straight years of college using all the benefits and graduated with zero loans to my name in May 2007. My plan was to get out after college and my 6 years was up.....re-enlisted for another 6 last year because I want to stay in.
The ANG does not have a deferment program like the Army National Guard does and does not have the split option route either. Most ANG recruits are seeing a 4-6 month wait to go to BMT and Tech school and it is hard to get dates to split it up for summer only. I can almost guarantee you that you will have to miss one semester to get your training done. Do not worry though, just do it and then return to college. I took a year off right after high school to get my training done, still graduated with most of my friends who went to college that year. Th training is fun, challenging and more rewarding than you can even think of. Returning to college after what you have accomplished in the ANG will be a great experience. College was a breeze for me and I can attribute that to the AF showing me great ways to learn and apply your training. I was a C-B student in high school and went to college and graduated with a 3.82 Cumulative GPA....so yes, it changed me and helped me acquire the skills to listen closely and learn.
Florida pays 100% tuition, gives you the GI Bill and some jobs are giving a 20K bonus, so what are you waiting for.....get going with this and experience life! See the world!
email me and I will get you the contact info for the ANG recruiters in your area.

Should I join the Air National Guard?

alright, here's my story.
i am an eighteen year old female currently in my fall semester in college. i have a long military background in my family, including my older brother, who is in the USMC. it has always been my dream to continue the family tradition of joining the military to serve my country. my original plan was to join the USMC as my brother did. however, halfway through my senior year in high school, i had to get a spinal fusion surgery to correct severe scoliosis. the fusion extends from my T1 to T12 vertebrae. more detailed, i now have two metal rods fused to my spine, & screws holding them in place in each vertebrae. it has been almost a year since i've had this surgery, & the doctor said i can resume all activities with no restrictions. however, i am NOW waiting on an ankle reconstruction surgery for ligaments that never healed correctly due to a soccer injury over a year ago. my question is, after i get surgery on my ankle, & get back into shape, will i still be able to join the Air National Guard? or even any other branch of military i should consider? i know they probably have physical limitations & restrictions, but i can't seem to find anything about this online. i want to be sure before i bring it to the attention of my parents, who will not like my decision, by the way. any information you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

thank you!

I’m planning on joining the Ohio National Guard as an 11b - Infantryman. Any tips or advice?

What is your career goal? Will you be enlisting for just one tour or will you serve long enough to be able to retire from the National Guard when you reach the age of 60?If you are looking for adventure, combat arms (infantry, artillery, armor, airborne, ranger, special forces, etc.) can give you that experience. But if you plan on a full time career as a civilian after you are discharged, consider using the military to learn a new skill. As one example, a friend of mine served on active duty with the Navy and was trained to repair some sophisticated electronic equipment. After he left the Navy, he got hired by a civilian contractor to work on the same equipment but at more than double his military pay.

Should I join the U.S Navy or Air National Guard?

All branches of military service are the same as far as educational benefits and retirement after you serve. As far as ROTC, tuition assistance and becoming a pilot, your best bet has to be Air Force, Navy, Marines in that order. The reason I say this is the military looks after it’s own interest first. The branch of service you choose is going to demand you have a major in a field which will benefit them. If you want to be a pilot, then go see the branch that has the most options for pilots. But there are other considerations you need to think about. Since I don’t know how those will stack up. For instance the air force has a huge range to choose from as far as the types of aircraft they have openings for pilots. The Navy less so but they offer other options you might find appealing. So you need to check out as much as you can about each service branch. Each branch has it’s own website with info about their officer programs. Look them up and check them out as a first step. If you have not spent many hours doing so before you make some decision, you are not fit to be an officer and unlikely to graduate college anyway.Sorry if that seems harsh. It was not meant to be. It is just the unvarnished truth.

I am Gay and Want to Join the Air National Guard: Would I get Booted?

I am gay and want to join the US Air National Guard. (Or, perhaps, another military branch. I love my country.)

Problem: A 5 minute Google search would reveal my gay rights activism work and arrests during peaceful protest. It would show me quoted in publications saying I'm gay. Would they kick me out? Would they even let me in?

I am afraid to ask a recruiter.

I have done extensive research on the "Don't Ask Don't Tell Policy." While they are not allowed to ask you if you're gay when you join, they CAN ask you later on, investigate you, and dishonorably discharge you. Once they discover that you haven't met an eligibility requirement for service (being gay), they boot you.

My question is this: Do they actually do this? Or, for the most part, do most LGBT service members go ignored "in practice?" Would my work with gay rights organizations pass the notice of the Department of Defense?

Question about joining the Air national Guard and Air Force ROTC?

Sorry its Long!
I just turned 18 and I have no money for college!

I was planning to join the Air Nationa Guard(ANG) Go to a community colege for a semester Go to basic, Tech school, & training & then transfer to a 4 year university and join their AFROTC program as a sophmore. I was then planning to switch to an active duty officer in the Air Force and out of the ANG when I graduate.

I was told by my recruiter that I could do this and my question is, is this true or was she just lying to me? Also is this a sure thing or could my transfer to active duty in the AF from the ANG be denied?

Also how much would I make a month about being in the ANG? and the ROTC program...I really wanna focus on school and I wanna know if i'm gonna have to have a part time job ontop of all ot this?

Please Answer truthfully and be as informative as you can...I really need answers and I'm running out of time!

Also what types of jobs would you reccomend in the ANG and what are the scores required for them? I'v been working out and trying to study for the asvab, along with going to work & stressing over college and the millitaty & i'm feeling a bit overwhelmed!

I'm also really nervous about MEPS! any advice would be great! I'm a very modest person but I know modesty have will be thrown out the door when I join and go to basic...& i'm really healthy & dont do drugs or anything like that...But I dont have the best vision in the world & i'm really hoping I dont get dq'ed for that! Mabey i'm just stressing over little things but please give me some info and advice! thanks again!=)

Thanks Guys! =)

I'm joining the Air National Guard. Which is better? 1W0X1 Weather or 1C0X2 Aviation Resource Management?

Hi,
I'm joining the Texas Air National Guard and I wanted the opinion of Airmen who have worked with these jobs, or who know something about them. These were the MOS's that appealed most to me and I hope to enlist sooner than later. I'm currently in my sophomore year of college but I plan on joining the Guard this summer.

I'd prefer an MOS that won't distract me too much from my studying (nothing too high speed now)
Also, I plan on doing AFROTC. Cadets, would it be better to join the Guard before or after contracting? What are the pro's and cons?

Thanks for your help.

Considering joining the Air National Guard. Avionics Tech or Intelligence. Which should I choose?

It depends on how big of a nerd (not in a bad way) you are, and how much you enjoy working in the heat for people that can be significantly less intelligent than you (aircraft maintenance supervision). I LOVE AIRPLANES, so the heat, long hours, and legal enslavement of maintainers was OK for me. I cross trained again to avionics technician on the KC-135, better using my talent in electronics. The job was really easy, but it's not for everyone. No offense to my enlisted Air Force brethren, but you may find the senior leadership in aircraft maintenance.

Now I have found myself working with things like photogrammetry, LIDAR, aerial remote sensing, and georeferencing images. I'd love to work in the intelligence side of the house, where there is lucrative opportunities. Unfortunately, I can't get a job in this field, because I lack the background. There are so many more opportunities here.

Another downside to my decision is the small amount of vacancies in civilian aircraft maintenance. The pay sucks, you work like a slave, and they are quick to can you.

Joining air force air national guard officer? i have degree what are my options?

My plan is to go back to school to get my degree in psychology. I already have my Associate's. I had been interested in joining the air national guard or airforce awhile back. My question is what are some of my options? I hear information about OCS for the Air Force but I know I need 2 more years of school. What degrees do they like to see?

Can someone please tell me what the difference between the Air National Guard is and the Air Force.

Really, I sound clueless, yes, but what are some of my options. I'm a little lost as to what to do.

My passions are serving this country and helping others.

So my original degree was going to be in Psychology but now I am debating things on joining the military.

Does an officer work on base and is transferred to a base when he/she gets out of boot camp or OCS?

Is it very different than being enlisted or being a reserve?
