I Am Thinking To Do Sth Or Think Of Doing Sth

Is Thinking Something Bad the same as Doing It?

First of all, calm down.

Second, don;t be so hard on yourself.

Whoever told you thinking is just as bad as doing has poorly misinterpreted the Bible - let me try and explain.

In religion, the Bible as you refer to it, the 'intention' counts for everything, - this what they have read wrong and told you - so a bad deed performed with a good intention is judged on the basis of its intention by God because he knows where your heart was and so the result is irrelevant. Simple enough.

You are with someone - your husband/wife, - you look at someone attractive, you may want to do things with them - but you don't, because ultimately you are loyal to your spouse - you did well in that situation - so intention and action are two different things.

You fantasize about having sex with someone - everyone does - but rapists go right ahead and do it - they're the one's in the wrong - not you, the intention and action are separate.

Thinking these things that you can't help is not your fault - having the thought and then forcing yourself not to do it - will actually be looked favourably upon by God, as He himself has said, fight temptation - so you're doing the right thing as far as religion is concerned - so don't demonize yourself.

Lastly, seek professional help for your own sake to get you through the medical and psychological sides of your symptoms. If it's God's punishment you feel you deserve, then you've done nothing wrong and aren't going to be punished by the all merciful - but I think you have deeper self-esteem and compulsive issues that need to be seen to.

I don't claim to know what God would want, but if you are so concerned with God, He helps those who help themselves - and He would want you to fight those thoughts so going to see a professional about it is 'helping' yourself and so doing His will.

All the best,

I'm unhappy because I don't do anything but think about doing things. What is everyone DOING that brings you contentment? How did you stop thinking so much?

Smile right now because you acknowledged the problem that "you don't do anything but think". And, it's a problem. I mean thinking is a problem.Contentment comes from acceptance. There is absolutely no way to stop thinking. But the good news is that you can dissolve your thinking. Let me elaborate.Imagine you are sitting on the sofa in the morning. After you are done with your morning routine, you start to make list of things you'd need to do. Then you continue counting, putting one or two things to next day, next week etc. Then you count again, you change your plan thinking it's a busy day and it goes on and on. You just cannot stop thinking "how busy" my day looks. And you hate that you have no life. Then you get upset.Instead, if you get up. Finish your morning routine. Then you find the very first thing that you'd have to do to get started your day and get going. Then you find sometime in between so you relax, focus on your mind, watch your thougths telling you what to do, then let them go. Simply let your thoughts give you ideas and what-not but do not indulge. Just simply watch as if watching the clouds passing by. Let them pass. Feel the peace underneath it. Feel that calmness of thoughtlessness. The best way to STOP thinking is to NOT stop it. Just simply recognize that you have a thought (no matter how good, bad, sad or whatever), simply let it be. And try to feel the presence, the watcher, the observer that you are. Practice this. As many times as you can. Be vigilant. And persevere. Contentment is not too far. And you'll only see yourself smiling. All day long.

Is there something wrong about thinking that I am only doing this job for the money?

NopeWe all do lots of things because we have to. I don’t like cleaning the house, but I still do it frequently. If not it will make other aspects of my life worse, and therefore I endure it week after week. And in this world it’s pretty hard to get around without any money, so taking a job just to get some place to live, something to eat and perhaps a little fun beside, is perfectly natural. It’s in the bottom, the fundament of Maslow’s pyramid of needsBut that said, then I’s wrong if you don’t try to find something better. Something that will give both money and job satisfaction. If you manage that, then you will do yourself a great favor. The higher you get on that Maslow pyramid the happier you’l be.

I am wasting my time in thinking about doing something without actually doing anything, any advise or suggestions would be appreciated?

Overthinking can be a killer. I know because I do it on a regular basis. The more we think about doing something, the more we feel we can think of all possibilities and be ready for any risks/contingencies. However, in my experience, most of the times I have been presented with a new possibility whenever I've put to action my idea/thought/plan. Yet I think/overthink. Old habits die hard. You may try following tricks that have worked for me in the past:1. Limit your time for thinking. This way you'll know when to stop thinking and start acting. For example, if you're planning a get-together you may make a list of all the important activities you'd like to happen. And on each activity spend say 2 minutes thinking. Act on whatever thoughts/ideas you gather in those 2 minutes. As mentioned in the book Blink by Gladwell, our first thought/instinct is often the correct one and over-thinking might present other thoughts/perspectives that may be less optimal. Limiting your thinking time on each activity would not only save you time but also ensure better quality in your actions.2. Visualize yourself in "action mode". You may visualize how you look, feel and behave when you're in action mode. Being in charge and in action is an adrenaline rush that many enjoy hence many act before thinking. However since you already have the skill of thinking, use it but use it as mentioned in point 1. After that enjoy the adrenaline rush of being the action man. Visualizing yourself may also make you feel that rush, weaker in intensity but similar in feeling.3. Divide your thinking time between analyzing the pros-cons of each strategy and once you decide a strategy then the final course of action to carry out that strategy. This is important and can enhance the quality of your actions and reduce chances of error. With clear understanding and vision, you'll be comfortable acting on your plan and confident about its success.Somebody once said, excess of anything can start having the opposite effect. Thinking is a very useful skill but overdoing it or only thinking without acting can have the opposite effect, i.e., instead of providing clear understanding and vision, it will confuse you more and prevent you from moving forward. So strike a balance today. Think less, act more. All the best. :)

Is it illegal to think about doing something illegal?

There are two components of a crime according to criminal jurisprudence.Mens Rea - Mens Rea means a guilty mind.Actus Reus - Actus Reus implies the actual act that is counted as the crime. Now, assuming that the law applicable in question is Indian law that is Indian Penal Code, 1860,An act would be considered a crime only when both the components are present i.eCrime= Mens Rea + Actus ReusMens Rea or Guilty Intentions alone are not punishable. A person might hatch a plan to kill someone in his mind and still he won’t be guilty of any offence.Similarly, an act committed innocently without any evil intention might not be punishable, for example, if a person has dug a ditch outside his house for some justified person like laying sewerage with the permission of Municipal Authorities and has placed sign boards and barricades, and despite those someone ends up falling in the pit and gets killed, the person who dug the ditch would be absolved from any criminal liability as he the element of Mens Rea i.e guilty mind is not present, even though though there is Actus Reus i.e the actual wrongful act (there are exceptions to this though, such as negligence etc.)

I am always thinking about random things?

like whenever I'm doing something my mind is always racing thinking about what can happen, what could of happened. its not always negative things either. I'm always recalling bits a pieces of my day or what happened years ago or just last week; just flash into my head like I'm watching a movie in hyper speed. im always daydreaming during most of every little thing i do. i can never clear my head and when i happen to for a little while a random song just keeps looping in my head until my next thought comes racing in. what is up!?

Why can't I just stop thinking and start doing something?

ANSWER: You’re Afraid To Be Vulnerable Enough To Act! You Fear Being “Wrong”Continuously thinking can be counterproductive. Happens to me all the time and this is my process to change that situation for me;1. Use your thinking brainstorm mode to WRITE DOWN a list of thoughts, ideas, dreams and goals that are flooding into your mind. The absolute key here is to write down what is happening2. Consider the list that you've written and isolate what you FEEL like doing. What you would take action on and the feeling that that process would bring you. The key here is not to choose what the RESULT would bring you but the actual PROCESS would feel like.3. DO or CREATE one thing at a time for a defined period of time (ie. 50 minutes) no matter what. To use Bull Durham analogy; "Don't think, pitch" or "Don't think, do." The key part of this stage is FOCUS. Focus is something that you train yourself to have by doing. Focus is a meditation.4. Is thinking about doing something wrong, or wanting to do something wrong just as bad as actually doing it?

If you are follower of Jesus, you’ll probable answer will be yes as he, supposedly, said “You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment. But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment.” (Matthew 5: 21-22).My answer is of course “no!”. First of all not anything that you think is wrong is really wrong. If we go back to religious, in some religions, pre marriage sex is wrong, so is thinking of having sex is also wrong? in this case not thinking and not actually doing it is wrong. We are humans, thoughts come to our mind all the time, some of them are wrong. When we see other good looking human, we may want to rip their close off and have sex with him/her on the spot, however if we can control our urges we did not do anything wrong.Sometimes your neighbors are so annoying that you want to kill them, did you do something bad? If you didn’t actually murdered him, you did not do anything wrong.

Why do I always think I am doing something wrong?

it sounds like maybe you have experienced some verbal or emotional abuse weather on purpose or not. did you experience anything like being constantly ridiculed, or someone who never was satisfied with what you did no matter how hard you tried? did you get in trouble for things you did not do or get accused of things others did? there is a reason you think that way, theres a source. think about it hard, your life experiences and i bet you will figure out why. i hope you find peace.

What's the word for doing something without thinking?

I'm having a sudden moment of...mental block. What is the word/term for doing something without thinking? The word that popped into my head was subconsciously, but I know that's not it.

Is involuntarily the term? I think so, but I'm not positive.

10 points to best answer. Thank you!
