Are there any arguments for god/s that do not depend on logical fallacies? If yes, what are those arguments?
Almost every argument for God that I have seen depends on logical fallacies and can be proven to be an unsound argument.I am always impressed by the gullibility of persons who say miracles prove God exists. These miracles are found in the Bible, which must be true because it is the word of God. To reduce this to an argument ad absurdum, miracles prove God exists because God must exist in order for the Bible to say so. We trust the biblical authors more than we would trust the pope today.William Halverson, in A Concise Introduction to Philosophy. describes the Ontological Argument, Cosmological Argument and Teleological Argument and points out the logical fallacies in each.Richard Dawkins, in The God Delusion, adds a few more logically flawed arguments, including the Unmoved Mover, Uncaused Cause, Argument from Beauty, Argument from Person Experience and what he calls the Argument from Scripture. Other arguments for God that Dawkins shows to depend on logical fallacies include the Argument from Admired Religious Scientists and the Bayesian Arguments put forward by Stephen Unwin.Richard Dawkins devotes an entire chapter to showing the logical fallacy of the Anthropic Principle, which argues that our world and the universe are so suited to life as we know it, that there must have been a God who ensured that this would be the case, at least by setting fundamental constants to exactly the right values.Pascal’s Wager is not even an attempt to prove God’s existence, just an argument that we should pretend to believe in him, just in case. The same argument can also be used for every other god ever worshipped, and it can even be used to prove that God probably does not exist.The one argument that may escape criticism for logical fallacies is the argument of Intelligent Design. This is similar to the Anthropic Principle, but makes flawed scientific claims to justify the existence of a designer God. Scientists refute each of these claims, but proponents of Intelligent Design come back with more examples to refute, although perhaps not as confidently as they once did.
Why are some Democrats so certain that Mueller has evidence of President Trump conspiring with Russia or breaking other laws since the investigation is on-going and has been conducted in a tightly controlled and closed manner?
Not trying to be flip as this is serious but the main reason so many Democrats are so upset that a man like Trump, whose misogyny and lack of integrity need no elaboration, was elected to office that they have been infected by Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS). If you are religious, why do you believe your religion is the right one?
Why do you believe in religion- Hinduism/Sanatan Dharma ?BecauseParents advice their kid what to do, what to not ? But it is upon child to obey that or not. They are not “rules” but advices . Similarly, there were many sages, Rishis and all other experts in their field, they gave advices. It is not just related to God, it touched every part of life. Be it Ayurveda, Kamsutra,Yoga,Astrology, Chanakyaniti etc.It gives freedom to my intellect to follow my path. It is tree with philosophies, many paths. One ultimate reality.I am very biased towards dharmic religions because only they tried understand this consciousness through meditation and practices like devotion etc. Yes,there were many people from different part of world like sufis. But their respective religion didn’t accept their ideology.The philosophical scriptures not one but many. The RigVeda verse- Truth is one , sages call it by different names.The openness from Veda-There was neither non-existence nor existence then.There was neither the realm of space nor the sky which is beyond.What stirred?Where?In whose protection?Was there water, bottlemlessly deep?There was neither death nor immortality then.There was no distinguishing sign of night nor of day.That One breathed, windless, by its own impulse.Other than that there was nothing beyond.Who really knows?Who will here proclaim it?Whence was it produced?Whence is this creation?The gods came afterwards, with the creation of this universe.Who then knows whence it has arisen?Whence this creation has arisen- perhaps it formed itself, or perhaps it did not -the One who looks down on it,in the highest heaven, only He knowsor perhaps He does not know.The concepts like Karma and Dharma are more rational.My religion can reform as the time goes on. It can give up evil practices if there are any formed by societies.
