My Tumblr theme won't change WHY?

Okay. So I was trying to put a theme onto my Tumblr.
This hasn't worked with any theme I've tried.
I copied the theme and pasted it over deleting my old HTML
I click update and it shows a basic theme in the list Tumblr gives you.
I'm really wondering why this isn't working and I really need some help.
Thank you so much at least for reading this <3 <3

Why isn't my Tumblr Theme working?

Mine is not working either. It has been like this for almost two weeks now. Someone told me to email the tech guy and said he'd fix it. When you go to the "?" at the top of the page to get help, if you scroll to the bottom right side there should be an email address. I emailed them like a week ago and they haven't fixed it. When I try to change my theme it doesn't let me choose one, it is blank too. I'm glad I am not the only one. But if you figure it out, please let me know so I can fix mine also.

I can't customize my tumblr theme!?

i had the same problem for a long time . i used internet explorer ( i know ew lol it came with the laptop ) and it worked and then like a few months later it worked on chrome again . so try to do it on internet explorer . hope i helped !

With my new tumblr theme my ask box isn't showing up.?

Some themes don't have one so the smartest thing would be to choose one of the thousands of themes that does have one and you will have no issues.

If you still want to keep what you have, you need to go to Customize, Themes, Custom HTML on the bottom and look through the complicated code..
look for the sidebar stuff, study it and you will find it, paste this code

{block:AskEnabled}

  • Ask Me

  • {/block:AskEnabled}

    Save changes.

    If it doesn't work or you don't like where it is on your page, repeat, delete the code and re-paste it somewhere else in the code and try again. Trial and error.

    How do you create a Tumblr theme?

    Specifically talking about designing for Tumblr, I'll just state a couple of things that are different to what the process might be to design any other site.You're working with unknown content. Which can be hard. But you do know the post types and possible content of them. For example a photo post will have an image equal to or less than 500px wide. A text post will often have blockquotes or lists. I start making a complete static version, with as much dummy content as possible. Look at a few Tumblr blogs and grab some really ugly examples of content, like the pretty common nested blockquotes or images of different sizes. Get a short quote and a really long quote etc. Design for a couple of each post type.When you're happy with it, strip your markup back to one of each post type and read the documentation to put all the correct template tags in the correct places. http://www.tumblr.com/docs/en/cu...You'll likely need to then refine within Tumblr. This is a bit of a pain, needing to update the preview each time you make a change is time consuming. There's also no syntax colouring or code completion. So it's sometimes easier to just keep copying and pasting your code back and forward between your text editor and Tumblr.Using embedded styles (even if you externalise them later) helps so all your code is in one file.

    I was putting up a theme on Tumblr. The read-more was just showing up as [[MORE]] at first, but I fixed that. However, now any time I post a 'read more' on a post, it shows up on the DASHBOARD as [[MORE]] but looks fine on my blog? Any ideas on what could be causing that?

    It has to do with the theme and I have the EXACT same issueon my Wordpress theme too....I created a blog on my Expat website there and each article is full of tips and then you read ''more'' but it wont click further. unless you go on my blog.Even pics are sometimes a mess....So, I know already from someone that the cause is the ''theme''Now I am figuring out the solution...To be continued....Rachel

    Remove Tumblr Install Theme Button?

    1) Go to “customize” on your dashboard and open the text editor.

    2) Look for these codes. They should be under the tag.

    http://media.tumblr.com/0a67f037fedb2fdb...

    3) Now copy the URL of the .js files. These are the files we look for when we want to get rid of the install theme button.

    4) When you open these files, check for this code.

    5) Once you seen this code, select all the codes on that file and copy it.

    6) Open up a text program like “NotePad”.

    7) Paste the codes in there.

    8) Get rid of the code that you just saw. NOTE: only get rid of the install theme code.

    9) Now save the text file as “something.js”

    10) Go here and upload that file.

    11) Get rid of the original file that you found the code from by erasing it. Then paste in the new file.

    12) Click “preview” and the install theme button should disappear.

    13) Save.
