I Asked For Training At Work Today But My Employer Said No

Can I sue my employer for not paying me my pay raise?

Do you work for federal/state/or local government with standard clear criteria for pay step increases? If yes, you might be able to argue that denial of the raise is an entitlement not fulfilled and thus a due process violation. If you work for a private company/non-government employer I don't think they have done anything wrong because the due process clause doesn't apply to private actors.

If there is any intentional discrimination involved in the denial of the raise, then you might be able to do something about it.

Can my employer fire me for no reason?

I was a new employee and my boss fired me in only 4 days of employment. The total hours that I did was less than 20 hours. I was working in a restaurant as a cashier they was not training me at all, I was trying to learn by myself. yesterday a customer came and order some sandwich and a cup of iced tea, I rung the customer than the other employee told me they only got bottle iced tea today. so I did not know how to avoid her transaction since I was new I called the other employee for help I asked her 3 times in front of the customer but she did not help, so the customer says can someone help me with the transaction. The manager came and yell at me and said if I don't know something that I can ask. the customer told her that I did ask the other girl 3 times and told me that I'm doing a good job. but the manager did not even asked the other employee she told me to leave without any reason. she just told me they need someone more outspoken and told me that I have a low voice. Is this right?
I missed 3 interviews because of that job.

Subway manager wont pay me for "Training"?

I worked at subway for three days, and the quit due to my parents and scheduling conflict. Friday and Saturday i worked from 5-11, and then on tuesday, i worked from 11:30-2. After i went to return my uniform, i asked my manager if i was getting a check and he said "no, im not paying you" when i asked why he said, "You hardly worked". I told him that i still worked and then he said "that was training" and then he walked out the door and left. From my first day my "training" involved me cleaning the bathrooms, ovens, and food lines, mopping, stocking, making sandwiches for customers, and working the register AKA working.

By the way, this is Georgia. I couldnt get a hold of anybody at the subway headquarters or the human resources because it was the weekend.

Anyway, i deserve to get paid right? any information is appreciated.

Why would employers work employees overtime, instead of hiring part time employees?

1. it actually costs money to hire an employee.
For example: UI taxes are based on only a small portion of income. I'm not sure today's figures but something like $8000 in most states. Once the employee earns over this amount, the company is no longer responsible for this tax.
401K contributions are another example. Employers are required to allow anyone to participate who works over 1000 hours in a year (about 19 hours a week). If there is an employer, contribution, these employees would be eligible for it.

2. Consistency and training.

3. If parttime hours fluctuate it's difficult and time consulting to organize this with on-call/as needed employees.

Is it illegal to not pay min wage for training?

I had signed an employment bond for certain years, but now I wish to leave the company. What is the best way of dealing with this situation?

Although I am not a legal expert, a lawyer would better answer your question, but I can answer this on the basis of my knowledge. As per Contract act in India, such bonds are not enforceable, since they are considered in restraint of trade. In the past, many employees have violated such bonds and in such cases, companies have resorted to different means:Allow the employee to go, take no action - In this situation, you lose nothing, the company will discharge you.Allow the employee to go, hold his Salary - In this situation, they will not pay your full and final settlement salary. Probably you will lose gratuity, leave encashments etc. and your unpaid salary.Restrict the employee from going, sue the employee - In this case, the company will go to the court. It will be a very lengthy procedure. According to the past cases, the company will have to prove that due to your layoff, the company is bearing direct costs. Further, the courts would rule in favour of a company only if the terms and conditions mentioned in the agreement are reasonable. Having a penalty clause in the agreement makes it unenforceable since it is not a reasonable term. So generally the company will be able to recover training costs only. This option is exercised only when the employee is very highly resourceful or employee is at a high ranked position.Recommendation:In maximum cases, Option B takes place. So you need to plan your exit smartly so that your salary cannot be withheld by your employer. However, you are at risks only if you are positioned at a very unique post and there is no replacement for you in the market or maybe if your services are highly important for the company projects and without you they will not be able to continue the projects. Then the company will never sue you since the legal costs are too high to keep spending it on every employee who leaves. If you think your post can be replaced easily, the best thing is you may try writing an email to the company, mentioning a notice period and ask them to permit layoff. Mutual understanding is the best way to solve problems. One problem will be that, it will be difficult to get experience letter and employment relieved letter which is actually asked for by various companies, when you join them, as a documentary evidence.

What is the life of an IT employee after being fired from a company?

Well I'm too young and inexperienced to answer this but still I would like to share my experience.I completed my graduation (BE) in 2016 and had no thoughts about building my career. My field of study was computers so I took up Java training in one of the excellent institutes in Bengaluru (India) recommeded by one my friend. My training was going well. It took 5 months for completing whole Java with 2 projects.Meanwhile I was attending drives but was not clearing the interviews so I was quite frustrated.Later after doing some research on career growth as a software developer engineer, I saw there would be vast growth in Mobile Technology so I developed interest in building apps.I took Android development course in the same institute, a month later after completion of Java, concentrated more on Android learning, the components, procedures, designs etc., Built a small app which boosted my confidence level.Luckily I cleared my 1st interview on Android developer position in a start-up company and got the job there.I joined the company in July 2017, I started working on a project directly, everything was going good for 2 months. We were 9 members in our team or whole company I can say! In different fields like Front end, Php developer, Java, Android(Me) and iOS platform. From second month we didn't get our salary for 4 months. Company people were giving reasons like they are out of money, searching for investors and other shitty reasons, we trusted them as they were giving dates for paying all our dues. Here came this day, November 15th 2017, they had told to pay on this day all our previous dues.He is not manager but a co-founder called us and said we are going to shut the company bcoz of lack of fund. You people have to leave now, we'll call you back when we get enough money and started saying all philosophy about career and all, we were feeling mixed emotions while listening to him.He asked us to officially give the resignation letter.P.S out of 9 I'm the only person live with my parents in the city, others are from different places living from their earnings. And November 15th was my birthday, returned home with no money and job. (One of worst b'day gift)It was birthday to one of the co-founder as well and he didn't come on that day to the office. My concern is about all my colleagues coz without money how will they survive in this city, paying rent, travelling cost etc.,

My work scheduled me a day I requested off?

About 3 weeks ago I went up to my manager and notified her that I need to have Mondays off because I'm studying with a tutor as well as training with my recruiter, and she said that it is fine for me to change my availability. This week I noticed they have me working this Monday and I asked her about it and she said since we are short handed and scheduled me to work. Here's the thing I feel like since I don't have kids or that I'm not in school/ college I get put on the back burner because they feel like I have no priorities. I'm trying to better myself too so how is this fair? I'm going in today and I really need to be off tomorrow, what do I do?
