I chew my food, spit it out, then eat it again?

For example I'll be eatin a sandwhich and I'll chew it and make it mushy, then I'll spit it out, and eat it again. I know it's gross but its a habit. How do I stop this?
Why do I do this? Am I abnormal?

Why does my betta eat his food, then spit it out?

Bettas are quite picky eaters and preference of pellets is different from one Betta to the next. There's really nothing wrong with him. If they are healthy they can go up to a week without food. And, healthy fishes don't intentionally starve themselves. So sooner or later he will eat. You might want to try letting him have freeze dried blood worms or brine shrimp and see if his preference changes.

If someone spits on your food?

Sometimes it's safer not to send anything back to the kitchen. Having eaten in many restaurants within view of the food preparation areas, I've witnessed people doing stuff that definitely violates all ethical behavior and health regulations. Knowing that, the few times I've complained, I carefully watched what changed when plate returns. (I don't eat the food on a plate that's returned to my table.).

In one case I examined, the burnt part of the pancake looked as if it had been wiped with a wet kitchen towel, the better looking side of the pancake turned up and the plate sent back to me. If he spit on it, there would be no way I could detect that.

In another case at a bakery I once frequented, the woman was hostile offering me another pastry but upon returning the next day I saw the same batch of overcooked muffins (scorched black on the bottom) still in her display case for sale. The woman who was once friendly had become hostile. (I misjudged her and thought as a small businesswoman she would welcome my feedback about the merchandise) Needless to say, I have never returned to either place because I can't support that bad attitude. . There are too many other restaurants who respect and treat customers better. I'd prefer to spend my money there.

Why does my goldfish eat its food, then spit it out?

It's normal because goldfish are massive waste producers and therefore are not suitable for bowls or small tanks. One fancy goldfish will fully stock a 20g with at least a 40g filter whereas a goldfish of the common variety (the ones for $0.99 at the store) grow up to two feet and therefore are not suitable for home aquariums.

If you don't want your fish to die, return it, do some research and then you may think about getting back into the hobby.

Why do my fish eat chew their food then spit it out again?

What kinds of fish and what kind of food?

Internal parasites can cause this behavior. But it can't be said for sure unless you can give more info. They may seem fine, but there could be something wrong too. How long have they been doing this?

If someone who is HIV positive spat in your food, and you ate that food, would you get HIV?

I'm hoping this doesn't happen to you, any spit in food is gross!Grossness aside, HIV cannot be spread through saliva alone. It can be spread through infected blood or blood infected fluids, and also bodily fluids like semen. If, however, the person happened to have an open cut in their mouth that allowed their saliva to come in contact with their blood, they could spread it that way. What an unfortunate coincidence that would be.

If you chew food then spit it out do you still consume the calories?

I figure that you still get some calories but do you get the same amount as you would if you swallowed? Do you know how much more less if it is less? I don't have an eating disorder or anything I was just thinking the next time I want to over indulge in cookies there might be a way I can still taste them without getting fat from them.

If I chew then spit out all my food, will I lose weight?

It's true that chewing starts the digestive process. Even if you spit a food out, your saliva has already begun to break down the sugars.People who chew and spit out food can end up with dental problems, including cavities and gum disease. Chewing food also signals stomach acids to kick in, ready to do their job of digesting food. But without the actual food to digest, this may cause stomach problems. Some calories in the food you chew will be absorbed into your body —how many depends on the type of food, how long the food is in your mouth, and how much you might swallow. What's interesting is that many people who chew and spit food end up gaining, not losing, weight. Why? Experts don't know for sure, but it's likely that people who try too hard to restrict calories or certain foods end up compensating by overeating later. And, depending on how often you chew and spit, your body may not be getting the nutrients it needs.Chewing and spitting out food is a sign of disordered eating. A habit like this may not sound serious, but chewing and spitting out food can be the start of unhealthy attitudes toward food and may be part of a more serious eating disorder such as anorexia or bulimia. It's best not to think of certain foods as "forbidden." Instead, eat a food in moderation rather than eating lots of it but spitting it out. There's nothing wrong with treating yourself to the occasional indulgence — especially because you are so active and a healthy eater in general.
