I Can Only Afford To Feed My Son 1 Meal Per Day

Is it safe for a kid to only eat one meal a day?

3 full meals may not be for everyone, and I am defining a meal by having a protein and starch and a veggie or fruit...like a sandwhich and an apple for lunch, or chicken, veggies and a potatoe for dinner.

But a Toddler should be eating something all throughout the day, a handfull of grapes, then maybe some cheese, a granola bar, etc. If the child was snacking all throughout the day I'd say that was fine - I'm a total grazer like that and some people just are. But not to have anything in his belly all day isn't healthy. If I had a problem eater, at the very least, I'd make sure he were drinking protein shakes or something else with vitamins and calories or he can have serious health poroblems. But she sounds like she's not even trying...so I doubt its his trying to control something...that usually just happens when parents fight with their children to constantly eat.

Can't afford to feed my toddler?

My 18 month previous gets a serving of fruit with each meal. usually snack length can of peaches or blended fruit and each each now and then sparkling fruit. She gets a veggie for lunch and dinner - eco-friendly beans, squash, beets, peas, or carrots. I usually fill each meal with a dairy alongside with cottage cheese, yogurt or cheese. She continually beverages milk with meal. I in no way provide her juice - ever listed under are many of the astounding classes I feed her Bkfst - nutri grain blueberry waffle, uncomplicated mini pancakes oatmeal chex cereal Kix cereal cereal bar eggs toast Lunch rice mac and cheese grilled cheese ham/turkey sandwich spaghetti pizza fried rice soup leftovers entire hen nuggets - i'm getting dino hen at Costco that could be a fave. Dinosaur formed hen. she would be able to chew and consume in basic terms positive. Dinner She surprisingly plenty eats what we consume. wish that provide you with some suggestions. On an ingredient notice. i did not provide my daughter adequate credit together with her ingesting ability. I gave her a fork the 1st time a month in the past (she has been utilizing a spoon for an prolonged time) and he or she exchange into great with it. i did not think of she exchange into waiting yet needless to say i exchange into incorrect. she would be able to now use a fork and spoon properly. She additionally has a tendency to consume stuff she does not usually consume because of the fact the fork is a relaxing pastime.

I have read about nutrition and food and cultures my whole life. The three meals a day and snacks in between meals that we are told is what we should do is all marketing by the food industry. Study the food industry, it is very disturbing how they are making us fat and killing us with toxic “food” products. What you don’t mention is what you are eating and I think that is the most important part of your question. What is ultimately going to matter is calories in verses calories out and the nutritional density of the foods you are eating. I don’t know your calorie requirement or how much energy you extend each day. There is nothing wrong with eating one meal a day and it can by quite healthy for you. Your body will adjust to the schedule and even eating on a schedule can be very good for your system. If you are not eating enough calories, you will lose weight. If you have some weight to lose, that could be a bonus to your situation. If you don’t already know, find out how many calories you need to eat a day, a simple google search will direct you. Then take one of your meals and break it down into how many calories it is. You could also break down the nutritional value such as protein, carbohydrates, and fats. You could break it down further into the mg of any essential nutrients. If you are eating the percentage of nutrients and energy as your body requires, then you are eating a healthy diet.If it were me, I would eat brown rice and beans with veggies and olive oil. You could probably live off that the rest of your life and the items are relatively inexpensive and easy to prepare. As I go through life questioning all of the things I’ve been told, I often seek answers in nature. Many mammals may go days without eating and then feast big after a successful hunt. Other mammals graze all day. Tribal cultures would also have to eat when food was available, often in a binge session as they never knew about the next harvest, fishing trip or hunt. So what you are doing is being a mammal and your body knows how to survive this way. Just make sure it’s healthy and not a McDonalds meal once a day or something. But even that you could do for sometime, our bodies are amazingly resilient. You may not have an optimal performing body eating a Big Mac once a day…but who of us have lived so specifically we are in optimal health?

I have been eating 1 meal per day only, is this unhealthy?

Oh, please stop your whining. I am also a full-time college student, raising four children and working full time. I usually eat once a day and sometimes go for a day or two without food. You can:

1. Get a job. You DO have time, especially if you live with adults.
2. Learn to eat healthier on one meal a day. Drink an Ensure with your one meal.
3. Ask your mommy for an allowance to buy the kinds of food you want.
4. Drop your school schedule to half time so you have time for a job.

This is the exact advice i would give my kids. If you're old enough to go to college full time, you're old enough to accept responsibility for your self. If you can't handle college, then drop your schedule to something you can handle. If you're 18, your mommy is no longer obligated to feed your poor widdle tummy.

Is it ok for a 6 months old baby to have only 4 meals per day?

my son is 6 months too, and usually eats 4 -8 oz bottles a day starting around 6am - than 10- 2 and last one around 6, i try to give him food at night for extra filler as well....Actually his last feeding around 6:30-7 - figuring some of the 4 hrs linger over a bit durnig a nap or whatever...now somedays, he will get up at 5, that sometimes makes for 5 bottles, usually last 2 a little less maybe 6-7 oz as i see tehres going to be 5 total as opposed to the normal 4. - SO 32 oz that is, and its AOK.!

Does anyone out there eat just one meal per day?

I also eat only one meal per day. I see to it that I get a big breakfast in (usually a big bowl of cereal), and that usually keeps me full until mid-afternoon. Then, I eat an apple or some oatmeal, and I'm fine until the evening. I believe in only eating when hunger strikes, and this has been a very good method to lose weight (although it wasn't my intention).

Some people say that you're supposed to eat every 3 hours to keep your metabolism running, but I just don't believe in that. I've tried that, and I actually put on weight. So, I agree with you that one meal a day can completely suffice. Everyone needs to find their own eating pattern, and I guess this system of eating once a day works very well for both of us! I also feel that I have more energy and that my nutrition has shifted in the healthy direction. I also feel that I can enjoy food more because by the time I eat, I've worked up a full appetite.

If this way of eating is best for you, then don't let anyone tell you it's not. People have also been telling me that the way I eat isn't healthy, but I just don't see the point of stuffing myself with food when I'm not hungry! I'm at a normal weight and am keeping my weight ever since I started eating like that. Also, you're right in saying that eating larger meals throughout the day just weighs the body down and makes you feel tired. This is also one of the reasons why I refrain from eating large meals in the daytime.

When can I feed my son baby food?

well you will hear tones of ages for baby food. SOme say 4 months while others say 6 months. It really depends on what your doctor says.
Things you notice if your baby is ready for food if he or she has good head control. can sit in a high chair with out tipping sideways etc.
Mainly if you are a believer in 4 months you would start out with cereal all though you are not limited to rice cereal, to about a tbs of it, Your first week or so of feeding will not be meals at all. You mainly are just getting them use to a texture like food, or i shall say thicker consistency. HOWEVER if your baby has trouble with gas, or shows discomfort, and a awesome gag reflux and chokes on it WAIT ANOTHER MONTH OR TWO/SHE IS NOT READY.
Giving babies food will not keep them fuller if this is one reason you are trying to introduce at 4 months, but there is no evidence that you can not start on rice cereal at 4 months. Once your baby has been doing great with the rice cereal a month and half or so, then you can start with Vegetables for a 3-5 wait period in between introduction of new food.

As Rice cereal is not an allergen, It will not hurt your baby as to become allergic to it if introduced this young. IF IT WAS< THEN DOCTORS WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT TO BE INTRODUCED AS A FIRST FOOD> THINK ABOUT IT THIS WAY>WHEN BABIES HAVE GERD WHAT IS THE NUMBER ONE THING THEY TELL YOU TO DO? ADD RICE CEREAL TO THICKEN THERE BOTTLE.

However, do not do this unless your doctor tells you to, there is no advantage of keeping your baby fuller longer, as it will not do this.

Keep in mind that
"Alternatively, children in families with allergic members are at a higher risk of developing allergies. As a result, in the past many pediatricians and allergists recommended that allergic parents use certain strategies to attempt to prevent allergies in their young children who were not yet allergic. For example, some physicians suggested that the parents of infants at higher risk delay introducing the foods that commonly caused allergies until the babies were older."

So with so advise here, you choose as a parent what you want to do, i would talk with his pediatrician on what would be best! Good luck

Oh by the way..my son didn't start eating until 8 months due to medical problems, but was told to give cereal in bottle. So as others told you to do this please dont it will not help your baby unless he has GERD, or EE.

Well you have to have some experience previously with good nutrtion. I eat once a day (or at least twice in a really short timespan) with no ill effects BUT I also track every single thing I put in body. I make sure on a daily basis that I meet my nutritional requirements and I do so without fail. Studies have shown that nutrient (macro and micro) intake timing doesn’t matter so long as the TOTAL consumption is adequate for the day. The primary issue with eating once a day is that a lot of people don’t estimate the quantity of food required nor can they stomach it without some practice. What ends up happening is that they under consume and start lacking vital nutrients and the diet in question fails with onset of food cravings which is the body’s way of signaling you’re missing something in your diet. So if you want to get into the habit of eating one meal a day first figure out healthy eating (tracking micro/macro nutrient intake) then slowly start compressing your meals. Compressing meals can happen in a number of ways but the main goal is to get used to eating a lot of food at once if necessary. It also worth mentioning that eating multiple times a Day is as random as eating once a day.there is historical evidence that people ate once or twice a day the modern 3 meals plus 2 snacks is the result of the common folk adopting lunch which was previously a social event for the elite and the result of marketing by snack manufacturers suggesting to people they need to eat their snacks (how else could they stay in business). There’s no real reason why you have to eat 1,2,3,4, or 5 times per day it doesn’t matter at all if your nutrient needs are met and your doctor hasn’t identified anything that requires special eating habits.
