When I sleep 8 hours, I am more tired than if I get 5 hours of sleep. Does the amount of quality sleep differ from person to person?

I will tell you a story. Four years ago my 44 year old father was diagnosed with chicken Guinea. It is a disease which  spreads because of mosquito bites. He was not able to get better even after lot of treatments. So finally one doctor (a really famous one) asked him to have his dinner at 5.00pm and not eat anything after that. He also asked my dad to get a 8.5 hour sleep every night. So my dad started sleeping at 8.30 and would wake up by  six in the morning. Did he feel lousy?  Yes he did. But that is only because he was used to sleeping six hours every night. So the 'feeling tired after sleep' period lasts for about three days. Then you are much fresh and happy. This good sleep and early dinner worked wonders for my dad. He was cured of his disease. His productivity at work increased and he is a happier and healthier person. So good sleep is very important. Please do not ignore your sleep. But sleeping only five hours everyday and then sleeping for eight hours a night  before a test will make you feel tired. Maintain a routine. Make eight and a half hour sleep your routine. Believe me. Find time for your sleep and it will reward you with more productivity, efficiency, happiness and health.  Have a great sleep and a good life.

Only got 3 hours of sleep and i got a 12 hour shift what do i do?

Hi,

As to your question, I can give you a few tips on how you can get lots of energy with less sleep.

Tip #1: Wash your face with cold water immediately after waking up, or, if possible, have a cold shower.

Tip #2: Have a cup of coffee or tea. If you don't like these, any energy drinks will do.

Tip #3: Go out for a short walk. This will get your blood flowing and the fresh air should help wake you up.

Tip #4: Avoid junk food. Eating fruit and vegetables will make you feel far more alert if you are feeling tired. Fruits such as bananas are high in energy.

Tip #5: Drink lots of water. While you may not be able to sleep, you can alter the other things which make your brain work better, keeping your brain hydrated will prevent lack of fluids adding to the problem of tiredness.

Tip #6: Do not give up! Moaning about being tired will only make you feel worse. If you get on with things eventually you will go "beyond tired" and feel more alert. This usually occurs around mid afternoon, although it varies from person to person.

Tip #7: If you can manage to grab twenty minutes to yourself, take a quick power nap. It will boost your energy and make you a bit more alert.

Tip #8: Get an early night so the symptoms do not continue into the next day.

I hope that you have found these tips to be of use to you. If you have any more sleep related problems such as insomnia, do visit my source as I will be revealing a secret source that can help anyone double their energy levels and naturally transform their body into a sleep magnet.

I am a 27 year old and I sleep for 12-18 hours a day. What can I do about it?

Hi! I am a 25 YO male. I have struggled with sleeping problems for the past 11 years or so. I met a doctor (finally) who was able to help with more than useless sleep studies. He taught me about the half life of caffeine and other productive ways to aid in sleeping. Firstly caffeine can keep you awake somewhere around 6 hours past peak effects. Nextly, use your bed for only sleep and sex. Creating habits such as reading or watching tv etc. will make your body ready for that every time you get into bed. Not eating for a certain amount of hours before you plan to wake up makes a difference as well in the quality at least. Research circadian rhythm and your internal clock to find out more about eating before bed. The quality of your sleep is important in regards to how long you're going to sleep to make up for it. Lastly when you wake up in the morning get up immediately the first time. Fragmented sleep (snooze button) makes it incredibly hard to wake up and will make you tired for much longer in the morning. Take away:No caffeine past early afternoonUse your bed for only two reasons (mentioned above)Time your last meal of the day and snacking habitsDon't hit the snooze button! Get up the first time your eyes open in the morning. I have had amazing luck with this routine, minimal trouble. I work very odd hours and it no longer is an issue! I hope this helps!!

Did Einstein sleep for three hours a year?

I don't know from where this information is passing around, but whenever I hear it, it makes me rage with fire. He did not sleep only 4 or 3 hours per night. That guy was Tesla. Read his biography- that man was really weird. He slept three hours a night, worked continuously from 3 am in the morning ( or the night) to the 11 pm at night, had his dinner around 7 every evening, and walked like 17 miles every day.Einstein, mate, he slept around 10 or so hours. There was this website that I had come across, a few months ago when I got obsessed with the documentary on Einstein, name Genius( yeah, the Geographic National one… ) and at that time I was constantly googling things about Einstein. So I read on a website, how to achieve the level of imaging things like Einstein did. He slept 10–12 hours a night and that made him go into sub conscious state and unlock the power of his sub conscious brain that made him imagine theories like he was witnessing them himself ( it sounds so cool, doesn't it) .And for the conclusion, let us just not waste our times thinking about how many hours those great men slept. Maybe they slept as and when required, maybe not.And yeah, I just re read your question again. If you are asking this because you saw Iron Man 3 and Tony Stark says that Einstein slept three hours a year…Dude, it is a movie! If you have more things to know, try checking out the *Hourly History* books on Google Books, I love reading them, and all the things that I know about Tesla come straight out of it.

I can't sleep when my toes touch?

So, this is really weird but I am texture sensitive I'm 15 and always had this problem. I can't touch chalk or cotton balls and eat certain food and now I realized my toes touch and I can't stand the feeling of it.

Does anyone know what I should do about this? Because I'm loosing hours of sleep because of this.

We cannot stand in one place for a long time. How can we sleep in a place for 8 and odd hours?

Thanks for the A2A. An interesting question, to say the least! What the others have said so far is all on point, as far as I know. Standing, we put our entire body weight onto a small surface area, the soles of our feet. Just the laws of physics there! :P The force acting is much higher in that scenario. When you’re sprawled across your bed, your body weight is distributed more or less evenly across a much larger surface area. Lower force to be exerted. Also, your heart has to pump so that your blood circulates properly throughout your entire body, right? It’s more effortful to pump and circulate the blood when you’re standing. You can test this easily, just seated at your desk. Prop an arm up over your head for a few minutes and see how it starts to feel after a while. It will “fall asleep” or go numb. It might even hurt a bit. That’s why you have to keep moving. Your heart has to pump against the force of gravity at all times. Not easy for a muscle that’s the size of your fist and responsible for keeping your organs alive! And yes, you do move in your sleep. Quite a bit.Hope we’ve collectively answered your question!
