I Cant Afford To Stay On Medications For Life Either

What happens if someone can't afford to pay for hospital treatment in America?

In the UK we have the NHS where all health care and most hospital treatments are free for people living in the UK. I know that America doesn't have this so people have to pay for hospital treatment, unless they have medical insurance. But what happens if someone doesn't have medical insurance and can't afford to pay for the treatment they have received? For example say if a homeless man was stabbed and someone called an ambulance, when they arrived at the hospital the man had lost a lot of blood so he needed to go into surgery straight away, also he is knocked out which means he can't speak to anyone about his situation. After he has received the surgery he may have to stay in hospital to recover but because he is homeless he can't afford to pay the bill for the treatment and obviously doesn't have health insurance, so what will happen? He's already had surgery so it isn't as if the hospital can refuse to treat him. Who will be the one paying? Would they also let him stay in the hospital to recover? And will they just let him go back onto the streets after he has been released?

Sorry if some the information is wrong but I'm just curious about what would happen in this scenario.

I can't afford heartworm treatment for my dog?

If your dog has Heartworm and is not properly treated by a vet for it FAST, your dog will die a very agonizing death. Borrow the money from someone and pay them back, use a credit card and make payments or work out a payment plan with your vet. Why wasn't your dog put on a Heartworm Preventative, so this would not happen?

If you are still unwilling to get vet treatment for your dog, then either SURRENDER your dog to the vet, so they can try their best to help him or her and if they cannot put her down Humanely, so she won't suffer. If the vet can help the dog get through having Heartworm, when and if the dog fully recovers, the vet will find a more loving owner, who will have no problem providing vet care.

Your dog needs vet treatment IMMEDIATELY! You have No Other Options. Emergency Vets are open 24 hours. There are ways to get the money to take your dog to the vet. You are just not trying hard enough, to save your poor dogs life. The sad part is, that this could have been avoided, if you would have had your dog on a Heartworm Preventative.

Just so you know, in case you don't already, not taking a sick or injured dog to the vet for proper treatment, is Against The Law, it is Abuse, Neglect, Cruelty and Inhumane to allow a dog to suffer in pain. If someone Reports the person responsible for providing vet care for your dog in your family, that person can be Arrested and go to Jail, for Animal Abuse/ Cruelty and Neglect. Animal Cruelty is now a FELONY, is most states.

Cannot afford insulin am in indiana without money?

Hi Barb - whatever brand you use will have a company name. If you have below poverty income and no insurance each and every drug company provides a program to ensure their customers get the drugs they need. Please ignore the first answer about your question, I am sure you are borrowing the net or at a library. Some people can't help themselves. Use the net to find the drug company and e-mail them. If you have a Dr. in the area you are in, they also have more information. Don't wait, please, as this can be life threatening. Good luck!

Why do bipolar patients stop taking medication knowing this could ruin their life?

I have had Bipolar 2 for all my life, and was diagnosed 14 years ago. I have had countless medication and dosage changes as well as ECT treatments. If you think that someone who goes off their medications is thinking about how such an action is going to affect their entire life, think again. Many people go off the meds because they think they are doing okay and don't need the meds. It's all good, to them. For me, life on medications is just plain boring. While the rest of the world is whirling, and people have feelings, some people -like me- are parked in neutral. It's like staring out the window and seeing shades of black and gray and white. And everyone else gets to see it in color. As for ruining my life, well, one or two days of being off medications does not a bad life make. I skip meds once a week or so, because a) it gives my body a break from all the drugs, and b) I can FEEL something. The littlest bit of emotion up or down means a lot.I'm not suggesting that anyone be non-compliant with their meds. My docs know this is what I do, and they trust that I am making good decisions.I haven't skipped any meds this month. Last week, as I sat next to my mother-in-law's bed, and watched her go without food or water for 7 days before she died, I did not cry. Family members around me were crying, some were telling stories and laughing, and others were saying how relieved they were when she finally died. All I could do was sit and watch.I'm not looking for sympathy or empathy. It is what it is.

Should I really put my dog down just because I can't afford his treatment?

dogs have no concept of how long they should live. They only know quality of life, not quantity. If his quality isn't good, then the lovingest thing you could do is to help him end it..For him, not for you. If he didn't have you to love an nurture him, his life would have ended long ago.
Dogs never live long enough for us! We want to love and care for them forever, but they just can't fulfill that need for us. all we can do is fulfill their needs the best we can, and they will never expect more from us.
I hope this may be of help for you, as it is for me> http://www.la-spca.org/pet_loss/comfort/...
All of the answers about finding him another home are well meaning, but not practical. Moving to another home, even if there were one to accept him, would stress your dog very much. You are the one he loves and trusts, and you are the one who has loved him since puppyhood. Moving would be such a stress on him that nothing would be gained..In his condition, he couldn't handle the anxiety of leaving you..He needs you to do what has to be done, in your lovingkindness.
as long as you are able to keep up with the treatments, and he isn't suffering, then just give him all of the quality life that you are able..
This veterinary care credit program may be of help to you> http://www.carecredit.com/ In the line that asks. "find a doctor near you', choose veterinarian.

Note: I hope you recieved my email about calling the holistic practioner, Marina Zacharias who's contact information is at naturalrearing.com

What do US hospitals do when patients cannot pay very large bills?

This happens routinely because hospitals in America are required to take care of all emergency patients regardless of ability to pay. And doctors on staff at the hospital are also required to care for those patients too in order to maintain staff privileges. Sometimes the bills can exceed several hundred thousands of dollars such as when someone comes in with acute leukemia or a traumatic brain injury from a car accident with a month in the intensive care unit and another month or two on a regular ward.Sometimes arrangements can be made for partial payment over time but usually everyone involved including the hospital just writes off the charges and considers it their social duty and responsibility. Uninsured patients are treated every day at the hospitals and ER physicians, surgeons, hospitalists, radiologists, orthopods provide care at no charge. On the flip side of this is that hospitals and doctors when providing this free care are still liable for malpractice. It's not uncommon for my orthopedic friends to be defending lawsuits from uninsured motorcycle riders who have their legs crushed as they slam into something at 80 miles an hour while intoxicated, then need to undergo multiple hours of surgery to try to save the leg instead of amputation. And then the surgeon gets a thank you with a lawsuit because the patient has a bad limp and chronic pain from the injuries.

Has anyone used the online pharmacies to order prescription medications?

I have a rare disorder called amelogenesis imperfecta which causes my teeth to break off and is very painful. I donot have any insurance. My doctor has me on vicodin for the pain. I cannot afford to go to the doctors for a visit every time I need a refill as I have to pay full price for every visit. I cannot eat due to the pain, so therefore I can't go without pain meds. (Ibuprofen & other otc donot work I've tried) I was told to try online pharmacies as they donot require you to go to the doctors. Is this legal and is it legit. One site I was on quoted $85 for 120 pills, which is cheaper than when the doc prescribes them. If anyone knows anything about this I would greatly appreciate your imput.
