I Cant Fall Asleep My Stomach Is Making Noises

Why is it hard to fall asleep on an empty stomach?

The stomach has amazing 'stretch' qualities and learns very quickly to take on bigger meals as normal. That's one of the big stumbling blocks to diets with small portions not working. The stomach will need time to return to it's pre-holiday gorging size, especially if you used to be a big meal eater in the past. The stomach has a 'memory' in this regard and will easily return to its old capacity.

In the meantime because it's bigger it holds a lot more air. Because you've taken in more food and liquids the stomach is operating a little faster at tossing the food around as part of its digestive action and emptying faster. Both of these will account for the grinding and gurgling sounds, especially when you lie flat.

You feel hungry because the stomach wall has sensors which indicate when it's full and send messages to the brain to tell you to stop eating. You didn't. These sensors are now more used to the fuller feeling of the stomach and telling your brain it's not very full ..... at bedtime. Also, your blood sugars are a bit low now at bedtime because of the lessened food intake and your insulin levels are still a bit high so you feel hungry because those slightly elevated insulin levels are now converting fat and muscle tissue for energy. This is why we start to feel hungry during the day.

Short answer? Keep eating your smaller portions but have something to eat before going to bed. If the noise persists try sleeping in more of a sitting position for a couple days until your stomach size has reduced enough to not hold so much air.

My dogs stomach keeps making gurgly noises and he wont eat?!?

Where is it that you live, because if you try calling your local ASPCA
or Humane Society (they help and usually for donations)
or maybe ask about any low cost vet services or free help.
It sounds like your dog has an upset stomach, or ate something
that did not agree with him. Just let him rest, and try giving him
some easy to digest food at first, like a broth, or soup. He probably
will not eat anything immediately, as he heals his stomach.
BE SURE to have fresh water available at all times constantly, and
just let him rest. He should start eating better in awhile. Hopefully.
Please try to find out if there is any available help because a vet is
your best bet. I hope he feels better soon. Good luck.

Dog's stomach making weird gurgling noises...help?

Since he is eating/drinking/urinating/defecating and sleeping as normal with out any vomiting or disturbance in sleep I would just say this is his intestines digesting and probable air movement in the intestines due to gulping food or water. Like humans, dogs also have normal noisy bodies at times. (They pass gas too just as we do) Be sure not to feed people food as this can cause digestive upset and diarrhea and limit the amount of pig ears and raw hides for treats. Pig ears can cause bacteria overgrowth in the intestines and cause enteritis which cause diarrhea and stomach upset. But it sounds as if he is just normally digesting and the intestines are rumbling due to gulped air.
ADD: if this continues then you may need to consult the vet about a more sensitive diet for him, could be his food is not agreeing with him if this continues. But if this is just an occasional occurrence, nothing to worry about.

My stomach is making weird noises and it's keeping me up at night. How can I stop this?

Is it due to indigestion or anything else? We must take pure and fresh foods in our meals. If some one has a menstruation also can be stomach problems. We should not eat nasty foods like rotten or rancid foods infested with micro organisms. For your case looks like you have indigestion issues. You can take ginger juice or can take antacids tablets to get relief from the stomach problem. We can have more water and sometimes can drink lemon barley. Also can take clear soups and even sometimes can be eaten porridge to alleviate the situation.

Bad stomach ache? Can't sleep! Please help?

I've had a bad cold for about a week now, and for the last two days I've been taking cold medicine (NyQuil and DayQuil), when I started taking it I started having stomach aches. My stomachs been achy and it's gurgling and making a lot of noise. I really don't feel nauseous, I just feel stuffed, like I'm really full, but I know I'm not :( anyways- I can't fall asleep :( Any ideas on how to help? Anything's appreciated. Thank you!!

How do I stop the noises from my stomach? It is so embarrassing to share my bed with anyone. It doesn't occur when I am sleeping alone.

It could be related to your digestion. Maybe you are hungry, and your stomach is growling, so have something easily digestible before you go to bed, like crackers. Or if you had a large meal your stomach is working to digest it, so avoid that, or avoid meat and other difficult to digest foods at night. It could also be from nerves, which can wreak havoc with your stomach. In both cases, I recommend you try Rennies, whenever your stomach feels unsettled (from stress or digestion) or is making noises. They are non-prescription, just like Tums. You may need two.
