What should i expect for orientation at Walmart for Maintenance?
Hey I work at my Walmart and I love it there ... I am there since September in the Dairy Dept. recently they began to cross train me in the Deli working the "Hot Case." At orientation you should wear the Walmart colors .. I was told about it the first day ... expected me to correct that by day two. We watch videos on Walmart history and safety procedures .. .how to properly life boxes without hurting yourself, for example. How to clean up a spill on the sales floor. They have different ppl come in to speak to the New Hires throughout the process too. Then you spend the second half of the second day on the computer doing little computer modules ... each is on a topic or procedure and a test at the end. You need to score 80% so you can get two wrong .. .or else you have to do that one over until you do pass it. You have a list on the computer under your account and it will be marked completed when you pass ...Day two ended with a work schedule handed to us. This is a swing shift within your availability hours .. they really will hold you to that availability so don't open up too much or they will be all over the board on you. You will get between 14 - 33 hours but sometimes it could be four hours other times six or eight. It could be early morning .. mid afternoon or late night .. so think about how early and how later you want to be there ... you can't change it for six months.... The third day you will come back and continue the CBLs ( computer modules) ..until completed. . Today I am also going to school online with a tuition discount from Walmart 15% on each class. I hope to move off of the sales floor at some point ... Accounting .. either with Walmart or because of Walmart. I love it here but I will move on and always reflect upon these days as happy ones for me. I get along with everyone so well .. I never regret taking this job no matter what others may think about working for Walmart ..
