I have a spelling checker. It came with my PC. It plane lee marks four my revue Miss steaks aye can knot see. Eye ran this poem threw it. Your sure real glad two no. Its very polished in its weigh, My checker tolled me sew. A checker is a blessing. It freeze yew lodes of thyme. It helps me right awl stiles two reed, And aides me when aye rime. Each frays comes posed up on my screen Eye trussed too bee a joule. The checker pours o'er every word To cheque sum spelling rule. Bee fore a veiling checkers Hour spelling mite decline, And if we're laks oar have a laps, We wood bee maid too wine. Butt now bee cause my spelling Is checked with such grate flare, There are know faults with in my cite, Of nun eye am a wear. Now spelling does not phase me, It does knot bring a tier. My pay purrs awl due glad den With wrapped words fare as hear. To rite with care is quite a feet Of witch won should be proud, And wee mussed dew the best wee can, Sew flaws are knot aloud. Sow ewe can sea why aye dew prays Such soft wear four pea seas, And why eye brake in two averse Buy righting want too please.
Do you ever disagree with your spell check?
You're right to disagree with the spell check in this case -- if you're intending to make a contraction of cannot, then can't is correct. Cant with the apostrophe, however, is its own word. It is a synonym of camber. It is the difference in elevation of the two sides of the road. When a road is not flat going straight across (like on a racetrack's left curve that has a lower left side and higher right side), that tilt is called the road's cant. This is why one should never fully trust or rely upon the spell check! Our language has so many homonyms and homophones and other crazy rule exceptions. :) It's good that you caught that error yourself -- it's up to you to be the final judge of proper usage and grammar.

I think your code is much more complicated than it needs to be, and maybe that's why you're having trouble. Working line-by-line, and word-by-word, as I've done below, is better than char-by-char as you've done. You'll have to decide how to report non-Hawaiian words; to keep it simple I bail out of a line on the first non-Hawaiian word found. Why do people get so mad about people who don't use spell check?
i agree considering most people become a bit passionate when answering certain questions, they are going so fast they don't even think about it. i know i do. but i dont see why people get to pissed, it's not like yahoo answers is a king of the world forum....don't get me wrong i love it and i am always on it, but it's not like you get anything for the points you get. it's really not THAT important. it's too bad that people take Everything so seriously.... sometimes things in life should be taken lightly..... it's a crying shame people have such a large stick up their a ss all the time...i mean, owe that must really hurt some people. --------------------------------------... oh no i have blasfamized the yahoo...............................
Why do so many people refuse to use spell check?
I find it interesting that this question was posted in Society and Culture. It leads me to believe that the question was intended to understand the Internet community, rather than scorn poor grammar. With that in mind, let me see if I can help. The purpose of a language is to communicate an idea to another being, It could be spoken, sign, body or written. ( I'm sure they're others, but for purposes of brevity...) Now, I as an English speaking person am grateful that you took the time to learn the English language. It make communication much more possible with me. How ever... I have learned that the Internet is gradually developing it's own language. I doubt you'd here things like; LOL, AFK, ROTFLMAO in a verbal conversation. We also have to acknowledge the fact that not everyone is a skill typist. These people may have valuable input but lack the experience to convey it eloquently. Not too long ago, I was one of those people. All hail the night school typing class. With that in mind, I don't believe it is important how you tell me what's on your mind, just so long as i understand it :) best wishes
