I Cant Make My Shots While Playing With A Team In Basketball Why

Why can't I make the Basketball team?

I've been playing basketball forever, I play basketball every day anywhere from 1 in a half to 7 hours a day. I played for my school in 9th grade, and when i tried out this year, i diddnt make it, the tryout was basically stuff i had never done be4, but everyone else ahd done, because they were all on a select team that played together, there were no shooting drills, jsut weird dribbling drills and no defensive practice, i was booted from the team, and since i have mastered the dribbling drills, i played in the Y for a season, and averaged about 22 points per game, when i go to mylocal gym peole are very surprised to hear that i diddnt make my team Im very athletic i can jump and im fast, and i once hit 19 3's in a row, I'm very determined, can some one tell me how i can make the team, because my methods arent working to well

Why do i not make shots in basketball....?

numba one what position do you play and also it not always about shoting if you can play good defence and can dribble the ball and give it to your big man or someone who can shoot its all good plus you can go in for a lay up or a dunk.its all about being effective on the court you might be lacking shoots or other things but you can be really good at somethign else to make up for the shoots.and dont just focus on one tign when you practise cuzz if your a great shooter but you cant dribble or give the pass and be affective on the court other than passing your never gonna get chosen.some thign you can do to make up for you shots are play around the world fool around with you shots to figure out where your hot spots are for some its mid range game others its three point in the key wateevr it is then practise from you hot spot just shoot. make sure you have a proper form and your elbows are tucked in its in your face in the center o you body and give it some good ark and when you shoot focus the reason you have this thing were you cant shoot in a team but you can on two on two because you distraced because of other things going on and you worried i mighjt get in **** if it doesnt go and stuff so dont be afraid and dont worry just focus on the shot when you start to fool around with your shoots youll see what form is best for you and you may even discover some techs to use like i did im a great shooter cuzz i really dont need to take shots in a game so i dont practise because i make it up for other things but still you should practise

It is as same as asking ‘why do you clean your homes?’. You know that dust will settle again but still you clean regularly to make your life easy. Same is with those who choose basketball. It is not necessary to play professionally for all, but it becomes a way of life to stay healthy, strong, leisure and motivation.Basketball is a fast moving game which requires physical inputs from every body part. This results in overall maintenance of body. Everyone doesn’t find Gym workout as an interesting or feasible option. Playing any sport provides fitness with excitement.Plus things like teamwork, patience, controlled aggression, importance of emotions and abiding by the rules can’t be taught in any gym. Sports like basketball and soccer are the best for such values.Basketball in particular teaches you how to optimise what you have. Short players learn to be good by improving on speed, vertical jumping, shooting and defence. Tall players learn to be quick and dominating. This thing mainly misses in other sports. Players like Derrick Rose, Russell Westbrook have time and again showed that size is not the dominating factor in the game. The game is so fun to watch. Constant movement and scoring, uncertainty factor, so much talent. Most of the things can be learnt by just watching.THIS IS WHY WE PLAY!!

It's AAU ball. If a kid is any good he plays with other gifted kids from all over the country in amateur athletic Union basketball leagues. To keep it simple it's run and gun. Not too much defense or injuries and kids are coached to attack the rim. They are supposed to try to dunk it and or draw fouls. The theory behind this style of ball is that it's fun to play so kids are willing to make the sacrifices to travel. If a particular player is really gifted they will be steered toward the pros as soon as possible. You guessed it, all the real reasons for how they do what they do comes down to making lots of money off a few kids. All the shoe companies and the television networks and everybody like the NBA who makes tons of money off of these kids wants it that way. Shooting with the off hand be damned, just show how good you look when you dunk. It is interesting though that some of the most rudimentary players who are fantastic athletes come in when they are 20 years old in the NBA and gradually develop certain skills. If they hang in there by the time they're 30 they have a nice round game. I've noticed that Stephen Adams has already improved in just a couple years. He can almost make free throws. He is the current young star with fresh tattoos and the whole 9 yards. Basketball goes in cycles. It might be decades before certain types of offenses come back in fashion. The current trend is toward promoting long-range shooting. So called big men are kind of incidental to the offense. In the past job hook shots or shooting with offhand was handled by highly skilled seven footers like Kareem Abdul Jabbar,Bill Walton. A thing to remember is that now participants and the vast majority of the viewers are young. To them it's not a fashion to shoot with your offhand. They never even thought about it before. Another thing that they are not aware of is that nobody calls walking anymore. This just makes it all that much easier to shake and bake and get loose for those long jumpers that are in fashion. I could go on. More money more money more money more NBA money. It's different in international ball though, you can still see all the traditional skills especially in Europe.

Couple thingsYou cannot practice shooting form without actually shooting at a net. Stop doing that. That will not grant you muscle memory. Thats why when you practice at the rim its not working. To get better form, shoot 5 feet from the basket and continue to work your way back to the 3 point line, adjusting your knee bending to increase your lift. You want to get really fancy? Try shooting with your eyes closed. And are you a bandwagon fan? Sounds like it. Its ok to like steph curry and be a fan but if you root for his team because he's on it, yeah you become a bandwagoner. Dont say youre a fan or "thats my team". Be honest, say you just like steph curry. People hate bandwagon fans because theyre only there for a teams success and share in their victory but were nowhere to be found when the team was losing and thats cowardly and unfair.

Yes, you can make a living playing basketball, but the odds are 98% of high school athletes won’t make a dime. The real question is what kind of fire and passion do you have inside you, what are your strengths/weaknesses and what do you believe about how you start developing your game, basketball fitness, and skills.32 players in the world get drafted for guaranteed money in the NBA.All-Conference and All-American college players are taking the jobs in Europe. Are you on track to be one of the best players in your state, high school, college, or country?Do you help your teams win? Are you a leader or do you only do stuff when people tell you too?I retired from basketball at 35, saved my money, invested wisely, and travel around the world doing what I love. Trevor Huffman (@Trevor_Huffman) | TwitterThe average American doesn’t understand that playing European pro ball or playing in the NBA refers to the ELITE of OUR country. If you are European and play basketball at a high level, there is an opportunity to make money, still work, get a house, a car, and supplement your income with basketball. In USA, we don’t have club system like Europe does, which is sad. Most players end their high school/college careers and have no where to play for supplemental income, except money tournaments in USA, which is a hard way to go because most tournaments other than the TBT are in the 1k-10k range. If you aren’t in college yet, get better at the game.Work really hard twice a day at basketball training.Surround yourself with a pack of basketball lions that are all focused on improvement, development, and being the best you can be.There is nothing else you can do but that.Or possibly, move to Europe, apply for a work visa, and start finding some teams in Western Europe that may looking for a player to fill their rosters.European Basketball Main PageIf you are interested in development, How to Play Basketball Drills-aau-basketball-workouts-Point-Guard-College is a place focused on development, basketball workouts, and shares some of my stories about guys that have succeeded at playing professionally (when all the odds were against them).

If you are starting late, it's going to be hard to make up for a lack of learned skills that others have been developing for several years already. One thing that most skilled teams will always value though - rebounders who don't need "shots" to *reward* them for their effort.Rebounding is a matter of fitness, effort and the willingness to "see the ball - get the ball".  Rebounding is a matter of 80% effort, so you can make yourself valuable to any team no matter how skilled they are.  If you are an effective defensive rebounder you will limit the other team to only 1 chance to score every time they come down.  If your team shoots around 45% and you provide your team with 10 offensive rebounds a game it amounts 10 extra scoring chances, that will lead to about 10 extra points a game.  10 points is a big freaking deal. The last thing to remember is to be aware of your limits - don't go dribbling and turning the ball over, don't shoot shots which you are not going to make.  Limit your turnovers, chase the ball like a freaking golden retriever, and don't let your player score easy baskets.  Do those things and you will have value to any team!

Can a short person play basketball?

advantages in basketball include being very short or very tall. when your short you are usually alot quicker in changing direction and doing sudden movements in basketball while being tall you control more area and can jump high.... each one has disadvantages and equally advantages, so yes of course short people can play basketball! tall people are seen as being good at basketball mainly because they are seen as making more score by being closer to the hoop. this is not true. more coordination is required than height in this sport. its all about how you play the game

Why can't I leave basketball in my past?

Mary, I quite honestly don't know how to answer your question, but I'm answering because I'm there too. I used to do a lot of 'outdoor activity' - there would be barely a weekend where I wasn't hiking or rockclimbing, or kayaking... or whatever. In 1999, I was part way through a 40km walk with a couple of friends and I slipped and twisted my knee. Minor, minor injury, but it needed an arthroscopy to check it out and clean it up. I ended up with CRPS from that. It was ignored for years (according to the orthopod, I was ignoring instructions, then I was a hysterical teenager, then I was mentally ill). I was always in a lot of pain, but it kind of settled down and I got into equine rescue and rehab as an adjunct to my studies (veterinary medicine). In 2005, I got taken out by an unhandled donkey, did my knee again and the surgery this time caused it to spread to most of my right leg. That surgeon recognised it for what it was and referred me to a specialist, but I've responded poorly to every treatment they've thrown at me.

My CRPS has since spread to the rest of my body and like you I am in a wheelchair - I have severe dystonia in my feet, ankles and lower legs that prevents me from walking. I too have additional problems - all thanks to the CRPS. I have very severe gastroparesis (meaning basically that my stomach doesn't work) - I almost died last year after my weight dropped to 28kg as a result - and I can't regulate my heartrate or blood pressure properly.

I guess what I'm trying to say is - I don't know how you feel, but I know what I'm going through given my similar situation. CRPS has stolen the life that I was always going to lead, just as it has for you. If you ever want or need to talk, please go ahead and email me.
