I Cant Swallow My Food And Iv Got Bad Anxieties

I can't eat due to anxiety?

Is it common to not be able to eat because of anxiety? Lately whenever I have anxiety I cant eat because the thought and smell of food makes me want to throw up. Whenever the anxiety goes away I can. I want to eat but I cant and I don't know why. If I do manage to get food down I'll throw it up if it gets worse or I'll just stay nervous and feeling sick. All I've eaten in the past 2 days is a tuna sandwich. I don't have an eating disorder. My boyfriend says people have worse problems than me and Im making up excuses but I really cant eat and Im not making it up. Please help?

I am having such horrible anxiety that I can't eat. Is lack of food contributing to my anxiety?

I'm sorry you are going through that--I have the same problems with anxiety--either I'm too anxious to eat at all (and the anxiety worsens because of low blood sugar), or I get anxious and overeat. When I don't want to eat, I force myself to eat a very small amount--maybe a hard-boiled egg, an Ensure drink, or a banana during the day--even a small amount of food will help. I hope you are able to lower your anxiety soon, and feel better.

I can't swallow food, but nothing is wrong?

Basically since I was 7 years old, I've had this weird issue where I can't swallow food normally. I'll explain. The only way I could actually swallow food, is by chewing it, then mixing it with liquid in my mouth. There aee Certain textures I am incapable of swallowing even with the assist of liquids, such as, fat, like meat fat, tough meat, Corn and mainly all fruits and vegetables, and so on. When I was 13, I finally addressed this issue with my Mother, so I went to the hospital, and the diagnosed me with dysphagia. But that was just a diagnosis based on me telling them about my issue, later on, I got x-ray's, and I was made to swallow a liquid while they were X-raying me, then they put a camera down my throat, and told me that absolutely nothing was wrong???? I am an anxiety sufferer, but the way this feels is like, it feels like there's actually something wrong physically, not mentally. It's taken a huge toll on my social life an I forgot what it even feels like to just naturally swallow. I often look upon people who eat and the way they swallow food effortlessly leaves me in awe and shock and it makes me resent myself. Why couldn't I be like them, and WHY must I have this awful issue. I just hate it so much. Any insights???

Help I can't swallow pills, can I crush Pristiq anti-depression pill and mix with food?

Pristiq is a controlled release pill. It should not under any circumstances be crushed - this damages the control mechanism and results in the pill 'dumping' - this can damage both its efficacy and cause significant side effects. Pristiq pills actually contain a decent amount more medication than it says on the bottle, - for instance the 50mg pill contains 74mg of medication. However, the pill is designed in such a way that it reliably only releases 50mg in 24 hours.

By crushing the pill you not only get too much medication, you get it too fast, and it wears off too quickly.

There are many dozens and dozens of antidepressant and antianxiety medications that can be split, crushed, or come in liquid form. Very few come in controlled release form (notable are Pristiq, Effexor XR, and Wellbutrin SR/XR). There is actually an immediate release form of Effexor that comes in a tablet that can be crushed or split - and Effexor is a drug that is extremely closely related to Pristiq (Your body actually turns the molecule in Effexor into the molecule that is in Pristiq).

Im having problems swallowing my food im 28 male and food gets stuck in my throat after the 4th swallow?

I have this same problem too and since I was 18 and am now 33. It has gotten progressively worse after the death of my son and more added stress. I would say it is anxiety/ stress related. It is more common than you may think. My E.N.T did not find any mechanical problems with the barium swallow x-ray test that I got but my symptoms are more like inconsistent spasms. You should take this problem seriously though because it could be a sign of esophogeal cancer...this can be caused by acid reflux/GERD. Do you have acid reflux? My doc suggested over the counter prevacid (I think it is called) but there are natural ways to decrease acid reflux too by not eating so late at night, avoiding coffee, chocolate, mint, caffeine acidic foods, etc. Hope this helps you get a start! I know the feeling is not fun, especially in public!

Do people hear it when I sometimes swallow saliva loudly due to anxiety, or is it only loud in my head?

No. Unless you chew food like me (you most likely don’t) because damn I don’t know what I do but I chew soooo loud. But swallowing saliva won’t make any noise, it just sounds loud cause your throat is close to your ears. Don’t worry about it :) If people aren’t pointing it out, they’re not noticing, they’re probably worrying whether if swallowing their saliva is loud to others

Why do i get anxiety after eating?

this used to happen to me a lot. ever hear the phrase "food for thought"? my doctor basically explained to me that the food is energizing the body and mind with nutrients, so this can cause your mind to be functioning more than if you're hungry. you shouldn't be afraid to eat, I went through the SAME EXACT THING and I was fine within a couple weeks(im not gonna lie to you, it might take a while to get used to). talk to your doctor, its not good to leave your anxiety untreated.

Why do I get anxiety while eating?

What were you taught about eating foods? (Pros and Cons required for this answer.) Are you having issues physically after eating some foods? Do you eat as a way to comfort yourself and then regret the amount you eat? All are good questions to sit down and try to answer. The answers answers themselves may surprise you. Most studies state that 4 to 6 small meals a day and fluids is what a person needs to maintain good health and stamina. So take the recommended calories you should have in a day and spread it out over the 4 to 6 small meals. If a food is causing you to feel bad or just the consumption of it gives you anxiety try to replace that food with something that will be more beneficial to your system that should reduce the anxiety some. Talking to your doctor or a dietitian will also assist you in making better choices to help reduce the anxiety. Food should not control you, the choices of the food you consume and when should help reduce this anxiety.

For the past 6 months I've had the worst anxiety/panic of my life and have lost all sense of my appetite. I try to eat regularly, but if I eat I feel really sick but on the other hand if I don't eat, I feel just as bad. Any advice? I've lost weight.

I am not a doctor or therapist and it is best if you see both, but CBD from Hemp is great for anxiety and panic attacks. It can also help with your appetite. If you are in the US, one of the best is from a company in Vermont that grows it organically and processes it themselves. I don’t know if it’s ok to mention the name of the company, but they are the cheapest and best quality available. I do not work for them, but highly recommend their products. A lot of people I know with depression and anxiety have been helped by their product and there a no side effects. They are a Green company (hint).Good luck
