I Did A No Call No Show At Both My Jobs

Can my job make me take a "No-Call, No, Show?"?

BTW. This is a Union job, so no... they can't just fire me. It just goes on my record. I put my two weeks notice in two days ago, already. I really was trying to leave the company on very good terms because I have loved working for them. I won't go into detail over my family emergency, but for those of you who think I just abandoned work... that is not the case. My mind was certainly not concerned about work or much else, but rather for the well-being of my family member.

I quit my job no call no show?

I don't know how long you were there but if you put it on any future job apps it will count against you so leave it off because if any future employer finds out you quit with no notice they will not hire you. Yes of course you get your paycheck; KFC is too big a company not to pay and want to risk any legal entanglements. Just call first make sure it's there and go in and pick it up.

Have you ever been a “No call, no show”?

No, the only time I even came close is when I was working as a restaurant hostess as a second summer job in college. My brother had gotten the job for me and I actually enjoyed the hostessing aspect, welcoming customers and seating them, etc. The problem was my extremely overweight manager. He was always hot and kept the restaurant so cold that there was ice on the windows during a southern summer! Even the customers complained…a lot. I was cold natured anyway (at least I was then, menopause changed that in a hurry) and would absolutely freeze to death every morning that I worked.Since this was my second job and I was already working 40 hours at a job I loved, I talked it over with my mom and decided to quit. There was no way I was giving a notice…I could not take one more morning in basically sub zero temps (at least it felt that cold). But I did call to tell them I wouldn't be back. I told the manager that I just couldn't take the cold.I didn't think anything else about it, I was just grateful to be warm. Until my brother (remember he knew the manager and got me the job) informed me that my overweight hot natured manager died of a heart attack about 10 minutes after I told him that I was quitting. I know logically that me quitting had nothing to do with his heart attack, but I felt guilty about it for years. So calling in and quitting without notice was the closest I came to a no call, no show. Thanks for the A2A.

Can I get fired for a no call no show?

I was running late for my job at McDonald's..:I overslept by about a half hour. I looked up the number for my restaurant (I 35 service road) and called in to explain myself. Jose, one of my managers, picked up and said I wasn't even on schedule and that they were sending people home anyway. He told me I was good.

The next day I showed up for my shift and was sent home - I was marked as a no call no show and was indeed on the schedule when I was told I wasn't.

I just realized that I called the wrong McDonald's. It was a restaurant located on the same road in a different city...which I didn't notice at the time. They apparently also have a Jose who works there. Is this cause to not lose my job? I just started two weeks ago and I'm a good worker. It was an honest misunderstanding and my restaurant never called me to see where I was. Please, I Ned factual answers.

Thank you.

If I quit my job by doing a no call, no show... how do I go about picking up my check? can my mom do it for me?

The company will mail your check to you, however it will likely take a couple weeks to receive it. Even if you were fired or quit under normal circumstances they would use the same protocol.

Generally speaking for an employee at a large corporation or working for a big box retailer, they wouldn't permit you to pick up your check even under the best conditions as final checks are issued directly from their headquarters or district office and are not sent to your work location. If it was a small business, they likely issued checks from the same office (or location) which would give you an opportunity to coordinate a pickup and receive your money sooner.

As previously stated, if you can pick up your final check, you should be the one to go in and get it. It's not likely they will release it to your mother, but the best way to check is to call your supervisor and inquire.

This is the mess you created and you have to grow up and deal with it.

Best of luck.

Reason for leaving a no call no show job??

Do you think it would be rude of me if I was a no call, no show after my two days of working at my new job?

“Do you think it would be rude of me if I was a no call, no show after working at my new job for 2 days?”It’s not JUST about what is the “polite” thing to do…though it is certainly rude.Every coworker, customer, etc that saw you on the job (for those two days) now knows that you are NOT DEPENDABLE. Not showing up very likely increased the workload and responsibilities of those people you worked with…you made their lives harder.I would NEVER hire a person that had a history of “no call/no show” no matter how long they had been at a job. If you can’t depend on someone there’s no sense having them on the payroll…period. It is rude, inconsiderate, irresponsible and immature…IMHO.

Have you ever done quit your job by doing a no call no show?

You mean absconding? Yes..people were very very cheap third class and I was fresher..so they used to bully .took salary at the end of the month and never gone ..I used to get letter to return else I will have to pay .. I replied to the company it will be considered as mental harrassment and legally will be dealt with it ..from that point onwards no letter..But i had no option … this is not a good practice. If u have to leave inform HR ..in my case it was difficult to prove i was bullied and it was BPO job ..

What can I tell my employer after a “no call no show”?

Well, I guess it depends on a lot of things. First, are we talking about the United States? If so, then that means your employment status is considered “At Will”. That means your employer can fire you anytime they want for any reason they want and they don’t have to tell you the reason why - as long as they do not violate your civil rights or break the law. By the way, “At Will” also goes both ways - you can quit your job for any reason at any time and you don’t have to tell them why. So that means, there is certainly a possibility that your employment has been terminated. In my experience, most companies consider a no call-no show to be grounds for termination. However, maybe you have a reasonable reason why you were unable to show up for work. Again, I can only really speak in terms of what my own experience has been. If someone has been a long term employee (meaning, they’ve been a good employee for at least one year) and they contact me with a logical reason for what happened, then I would at least consider giving them the benefit of the doubt. I may ask for some documentation to prove they were where they said they were when they were supposed to be at work. Again, it would depend on the reason given. I think your best approach would be to call your boss and ask to explain why you were absent from work. Be apologetic. Be contrite. Be totally humbled by the situation and tell your boss that your job is very important to you and you are appealing to them to give you another chance. Tell them that it will not happen again and that you understand the consequences if it does happen again. Good luck.
