I Didnt Get Pulled Over. Why

I got pulled over, but didn't get a ticket?

OK, this is more of a clarification question to sooth my nerves.

I'm a new driver with a decent car, where you have to turn on/off the headlights manually. Well, I forgot to turn on my headlights while on the road, but I quickly turned it on. Unfortunately, a cop saw that I had it off and pulled me over a few minutes after I had turned on. He asked for my license and all the necessary paperwork, left, came back, and gave me back my stuff.

I think he said "drive safe," gave no ticket, and just left

Am I in the clear? Because I seriously don't want to tell my parents about this. My relationship with them is strained as it is, and this will only make it worse.

Cop followed me, but didn't pull me over?

I was heading to del taco to get a late night snack, and I was driving the speed limit, all my lights are on and functioning. I head down the street and about to make a left turn, and I see a sheriff make a right as i make a left. When the light turns green, I make a left turn and he quickly turns around and starts following me. It's only about a quarter of a mile before the turn into del taco, and I make a left. He's still following me, no signals or lights are on to tell me to pull over but he's right on my ***.

I make a left and then drive and make a right into the parking lot. He then pulls in the parking lot after me and I reach a stop sign. I wasn't sure what he did afterward, but he sort of drove off or possibly parked. I went passed the stop sign and del taco was not more than 40 feet and I made a right and ordered my food. My heart was pounding, but when I was getting my food I thought I saw a the cop speeding through the parking lot (the other way), maybe he didn't see me pull into the parking lot to get my food.

I then head out the other way to semi avoid the cop, and head home. I didn't see any cops around, I just hope he wasn't after me.

What was that about, and is that normal or happened to any of you? I don't really disobey laws, and am usually pretty good on the road. I wasn't texting or on the phone, was paying attention to the road, etc. Checked my lights when I got home and everything was fine.

I got pulled over but didn't get a ticket?

The officer said I was going 60 on a 45. I gave him my drivers license and registration. And 10 minutes later, he came back and said "you are lucky I got another call to go somewhere else, drive slower". He handed my back my stuff with no ticket. But he didn't say it was a warning. I was driving on one of those roads that were just dead empty and a town or two away from my house when I got pulled over. I am afraid, did he enter it in the computer or something? Do you think did he really meant what he said? I am only 19.

I got pulled over by a cop but didn't get a ticket.?

I guess I'm more worried about my insurance than the ticket? Like could he have gotten all my info if he just got my license plates and now it somehow tells my insurance that I was "pulled" over but wasn't issued a ticket. Or do you HAVE to have a ticket in order for the violation to even reach my insurance company???

If you have a warrant and you get pulled over, what happens?

If you have a warrant and you get pulled over, what happens? In the US? In most instances since the officer performing the stop will ask for the license of the driver and proof of insurance, that officer will then “run” those documents/information. Meaning they will either use a computer terminal in their cruiser or they will radio in that information so that someone in dispatch can perform a similar search to validate the information and check that the license is valid, not expired, and if there are any wants, warrants or other flags on the individual. If they (or dispatch) “get a hit”, it is then a matter of protocol and departmental policy as to what happens next. If the severity of the want/warrant is sufficient, the officer will typically request backup and/or take the individual into custody for the warrant(s). If the flags on the individual are not that severe, depending on the law, departmental policy, and the discretion of the officer, it could result in them returning to the vehicle and asking the driver “are you aware of this outstanding matter?” and recommending that the driver “take care of this ASAP”.I wouldn’t count on the latter, but I have been fortunate enough to have heard that phrase myself and not only did I assure the officer that I would “take care of it immediately”, I considered it as an omen that I was very lucky and did my best to take care of that outstanding legal matter.

A police officer pulled me over, claiming I didn't stop at the stop sign when I did. Should I fight it in court? Is there any chance I could win?

The short answer is yes. Why depends on your level of cynicism.I've gotten three tickets in my life. The first ticket was me driving way too fast. In my defense, I thought I was driving only a little above the speed limit, but I knew I was going over. I paid the fine. The second ticket I got, I was not speeding. The police officer pulled me over and the person who passed me over. I was clocked as doing 45 in a 35, as was the person who passed me.The issue went to court, and the da offered us a deal—no points, non moving violation, 20 dollar fine. It wasn't worth it to try the case if we were there to fight it.The third ticket I got was for using a cell phone while driving. This ticket was crap. My car has a navigation system in it. I was next to the police officer at a stoplight and turned my navigation system off—it's built into the car, so it's legal to do. I went to court, the officer testified that he saw one screen in the car. On the record. I asked him if he saw the screen in my car. He said yes. I asked him if he was sure I was operating my phone. He said yes. I asked him why he only saw one screen in the car. He had no idea. I asked him if he pulled my car over. He said yes. The traffic judge didn't buy it and found me guilty. I filed an appeal, which included the officer's testimony. I was let off the hook. The sad, cynical truth is that a lot of places in America use ticket revenue to pay for government, instead of increasing taxes. So all you have to do is make the ticket more expensive to fight than it is to settle. Remember there are extra negative consequences of a ticket beyond paying a fine, so even if the best you can negotiate is to *just* pay a fine you're still better off.

Cop pulled me over for speeding but didn't get a ticket. could i get it in the mail?

im 19 years old and i live in california. last night i was driving around midnight and there were 2 cars in front of me going the same speed as me. a cop turned on its lights and went around me to pull over the other 2 cars but as i was slowing down because they were front of me, both cops came out of the car and told me to pull over in front of the other cars so i did. (i guess the cop went around me just so he could get up to the other 2 cars) but anyways i pulled over and waited. they talked to the other drivers first and then they came up to my car. i rolled the window down and he asked for my drivers license. he then asked me if i knew who was the guy driving in front of me because it looked like me and him were trying to race but we really werent so i told him i didnt know him and he said yea he said he didnt know you either. then he said i pulled you over for going 60 in a 45 and right there i thought he was gonna write me up for a speeding ticket. he then asked me if ive ever been arrested and i told him no. then he asked where i was headed and i told him i was going home and he asked if ive had any alcohol tonight and i told him no. he then gave me back my license and said to drive home safe and at a lower speed then i was just driving so i told him alright and he let me go. i noticed the other 2 cars were still behind me even though they already talked to them and i just drove off and went home. my question is do you think i could be getting a ticket in the mail? the cop didnt say anything about a ticket but he told me how fast i was going. he didnt go back to his car to run my license and he didnt ask me for my insurance either. the car is registered under my dad's name. the cop was being polite to me and i was being polite to him and before he let me go he called me by mr. and said my last name. could he have remembered my name license number or my license plate and checked it when he went back to his car? i know i typed quite a bit but i just wanted to make it easier for you to understand the situation i am in. thank you.

Police didn't give back my license after getting pulled over?

Long story short, my friend and I were pulled over by the police after being seen entering a condo/hotel complex and messing around for a few minutes. We didn't cause any damage at all whatsoever or really do anything wrong other than entering the building, which was wide open. We didn't really even know that we were "trespassing". We admitted to everything and we're very respectful to the two officers. They seemed to be appreciative and genuinely seemed as if they didn't want to throw us into too much trouble. Right before the officers let us go, one of them mentioned that our car smelled slightly of marijuana. We told him that we had already used it long before and did not have any on us, which was the truth. After this they told us we were free to go. They didn't mention any charges or citations at all, but warned us that they would find us of they found any damage or anything by the complex. Since we didn't cause any damage, I don't see any reason for them to contact us further. The problem is, the officer never gave my license back after asking for my license and registration. Would this be so that they could hold onto it until they inspected the area for damage? He made no mention of taking my license and I didn't even realize until we were driving away. Since no charges or citations were mentioned, only warnings, what should I expect to happen? I've never had an offense before. I'm 18 and my friend is 15. I don't plan on trespassing ever again. Only serious answers.
