I'm 13 and I want to get either a penny board or a skateboard. I'm not athletic at all and I don't have a lot of experience with either of them. Which would be easier to learn to use?
Get a skateboard. Ease of learning aside it will be better for you, you will make lots of friends, you'll have something to do and practice at, you can post on the SLAP forums ;) Honestly skateboarding has way more to offer than a riding a penny board especially if you're drawn to any of that;• you'll learn to look at the streets differently• you'll meet lots of new people • many of them will become friends• you'll explore your local city search for spots Don't worry about not being athletic before you start, it will come if you keep on it. Same thing with experience. The best thing I can recommend is just skating around lots. If you need to walk the dog bring your skateboard, but don't hold the leash and expect them to pull you, if you need to get the mail ride down the driveway, skate to the store, skate to school, skate in school. The more you do it, the more you will "notice" your board and how it responds to certain things and in time everything will fall into place.
Are Penny Board skateboards good for beginners?
I have a Penny Board, a Penny Nickel Board, some skateboards and Cruisers. I started on a Penny Cruiser/Nickel (Modified) board. The only time I ever find myself riding any of the Penny boards is when it is raining. I think I learned faster and really enjoyed riding a board with a wood deck much more. I was able to get better trucks for it, and the ride was just smoother, more predictable, and responsive. Wood decks will have some concave, so your feet will feel more secure on the board. Also, I found it easier to get over cracks and sidewalks because when I leaned back on my tail, it would respond more quickly than a plastic board. I'm not as down on Penny boards as must people on Quora, but I really do think they're just not nearly as fun (or safe) to ride. I suggest http://landyachtz.com/us/boards/... as a fun alternative. It is a nice cruising board with a mellow concave (which I found made learning to turn my foot easier), and kittens are dope.Others might feel the same way, but I imagine a Penny board would be hard to get the jist of turning and what not at first. But then again I never rode one until I was about 5 years into skating so by then I could already do tricks the first time I rode one haha.If you're just looking to cruise just get a regular board with 70mm wheels. I put some on my regular board and it's so fast and smooth. A regular board would get me to work in 45 min but with the cruiser wheels it's about 30 min. And if you cn go for a fish tail board, if you dig the oldschool '70s/ penny board style.Pro Tips: invest in some risers, wheel bite sucks.Tip 2: don't push mongo, everyone will know your a noob and secretly film you on snapchat making fun of you. Can I use normal skateboard bearing spacers in a penny board?
You don't need spacer, they really don't make any difference. They will fit on any board though. Call your local shop and ask if they have and spacers they can spare or sell, I've only ever got them with higher end bearings though so I'm not sure if many shops stock them separately.
What's better for traveling, a skateboard or a pennyboard?
The two factors to consider are size of the board (which affects stability and ease of riding, particularly at speed) and hardness of the wheels (which affects both surface grip and smoothness of the ride).The Penny board is smaller than standard skateboards. I have a Stereo Vinyl Cruiser, which is effectively the same as the Penny, and while it's fun it's really a bit too twitchy for comfort. I have a Penny Nickle, which is larger than the standard Penny and roughly the size of normal skateboards. It's much better for actual travelling around than the smaller deck. In this respect, skateboards definitely beat the standard Penny.Regular skateboard wheels are much harder than the ones used on the Penny (and Penny Nickle). They suit more tricks-based uses, but they're a bit tiring – and noisy – for doing distance riding. Penny wheels are definitely winners for travelling about. You could go for softer-than-standard skateboard wheels to get the best of both worlds.Of course, you could and should also look at longboards, which typically are longer than skateboards (they tend to go from the same length up to near five feet long) and have wheels that are (a) generally softer than the skateboard norm, and (b) larger as well. This makes them superb for travelling around even on rough asphalt, and they'll roll over the kind of thing that can stop regular skateboard and Penny wheels dead. I've skated miles on longboards. Dave Cornthwaite rode across Australia on one, and others have crossed South America, Europe, Morocco, and so on.The downside is the size: being bigger they're not as easy to carry around. But they absolutely transform travelling!
Easier to ride: Penny board, Skateboard, or Longboard?
Well trying to learn & ride a skateboard for the first time would be a challenge pretty much on any kinda board you try. But the more you practice & time you spend the more used to it you will get to it. Just Note penny boards are them mini cruising type boards. They can be hard to ride at first .. They are pretty small and don't provide much footing space. The more footing space you have while trying to learn the better.. Long boards provide alot of footing space. They go over small cracks ,rocks easier than other boards without getting stuck. You still gotta be careful though. Also Its hard to turn and make sharp turns on longboards if you don't have much experice with them. Regular Skateboards are good ,not to long not to short. But its not ideal for cruising . You mainly want a board to cruise around. You still can use it for that but its not gonna provide that smooth ride cruiser boards offer.. Penny boards almost everywhere cost $100 , longboards depending on what style and brand can range from $ 80 cheapest to $ 160 for more quality type ones. Regular skateboards range from$ 80 - 140 depending on the brand of all its components.etc. You usually get good deals if you buy there complete board they already have assembled ,but usually those boards are assembled with some cheap products, components or products they normally have a hard time selling. Etc so you got be careful . Its alway a best to customize and buy every part individually that way you know you are putting in quality parts.. But this usually cos more in the end.. Just some facts to know when you go buy your board.. I would recommend that you personally go and walk in to a local skateshop that way you can see first hand between the different options and compare the style and prices. Perhaps you can even stand on the boards just to see which one you feel more comfortable standing in . Which ever one it is than that would probably be the one you will feel safer riding around.etc.
I need an electric penny board. What should I pay attention while selecting? Do you advise certain brands or models to buy or avoid?
my advise would be to not buy an electric penny board. get something a little bit larger. That will result in better quality, better ride quality, more speed, more batter life, and just as good portability and turning. Boosted is the best brand. look around though. This is coming from someone who skates (nonelectric) on a daily basis but has done plenty of research on electric boards. I want in too. haha. good luck mate
Is it harder to learn to skateboard on a penny board than a normal board?
Penny boards are nice little boards. I think of this question as “Hey, all I have is a penny board, can I skate this until I get a skateboard?” I’ve had a stereo cruiser board (it’s really just a penny board), several skateboards, and a few longboards. I’ve been skating a long time. All I had was a skateboard when I first started. I also had a ton of stuff with wheels. I would jump off my 5 foot high porch on my skateboard, rollerblades, and scooter. So here’s what I say.If you’re buying, stand on a skateboard and then stand on a penny board. Which one feels like “home”? Buy that one. It’s really going to come down to what you prefer. Personally, I prefer skateboards.You only have a penny board? Start pushing. You’re a skater. A few months later, your friend let’s you borrow her skateboard. It’s going to feel really weird at first. Keep pushing. If you like it, go to your local skate shop and get one set up. Penny board vs. Skateboard?
Penny boards are way better for several reasons, •The are way smoother, easier and nicer to ride because the wheels are bigger and softer. They are like a small long board. •Penny boards are really in style right now •Penny boards can be driven over by cars and don't break (I've tested that!) •Skateboards make way more noise and send annoying vibrations through your feet. Penny board all the way, Unless you want to do trick then get a skate board. I hope i helped :)
Penny board or skateboard?
Okay I'm 5'1 and 95 pounds with no experience with skating. But I figured why not? So I was looking at both pennyboards and skateboards and wanted to know which would be easiest to learn. Also, do you have any recommendations for my first board? I would like to keep it relatively cheap if that's okay :) I know pennyboards are super "in" right now so I was kind of thinking of getting one but whatever y'all think is best.
