I Feel Like Using Should I Let My Sponsor Know

I sponsor a child through childfund, i kinda feel like im being scammed? your thoughts?

ok, so i have been sponsoring a child since about August last year...
i feel stupid saying all this but, I got my first letter from Chandima today. She is 14 (a lot older than what i thought i was going to be sponsoring (and from another country than the one i opted for))
When letters are sent what happens is they send the original along with a translated version of it. According to the childfund staff they say they translate it as close as possible to word for word.
First off, when i recieved the info about who i was sponsoring they told me she lived with her mother, father and baby brother, but in her letter she says there is 5 of them, her parents, herself and two older siblings.
second- in a paragraph of the translated version there is an almost word for word repeat of something the childfund staff wrote to me in a letter previously (when they wrote asking me to write Chandima)... the paragraph is translated to "what is the name of your country? What are the important places there? Please also write to us about you and your family." Childfund have said that exact same thing to me saying those are the things i should write to Chandima about.
I just kinda feel like it isnt real... maybe it was the translater, but it feels hokey to me :( which is sad because i truly felt good helping someone else out.
Please don't say "if you think its fake then it's fake" i want to know whether you would believe it to be real or not.

I found out the child I am sponsoring is muslim. I Don't know what to do.?

Since you know the country, you can know whether the child is being raised to hate Christians or whether he/she is being raised a moderate. For instance, Iran is teaching from the age of 7 to hate by their public school system while Lebanon is teaching moderate Islam and due to the backlash against Hezbollah, Islam's extremists are reaping a bad reputation. Were I the one supporting this child, I'd consider whether or not the child I am paying to support is being taught appreciation of my gift to them or whether they are being taught to consider my philanthropy foolish.

If you're still bent on picking the religion to support, you can stipulate in your contract with the organization who you will support. I would pick a different organization, like 'Feed the Children' which is a Christian organization and have similar agendas to your own.

I think your reticence is justified on the basis of what they're being taught. Not on the basis of their birthright. If you are not prepared to research this, then politely bow out and find a Christian based organization to support. You're still not going to be able to pick on the basis you stated.

If you want to minister to the people of that religion specifically, you should check out K.P. Yohannan's ministry. His organization is not about food for the body as much as food for the spirit, but the people they support can correspond with you about this region and its people with a great deal of knowledge. They are lay pastors and native missionaries.

What should I do to get sponsorship as a professional motorcycle racer?

Getting sponsorship is the hardest part of racing. I’ve been working on it for years, and still haven’t mastered it. I didn’t realize when I decided to go pro, that most of my time would be spent selling sponsorships.I sometimes feel like the geek in high school around prom time who asks every girl to go, but gets rejected literally hundreds of times. Eventually, one girl says she’ll go, but it takes asking hundreds. Getting sponsors is no different.I could go on with a long explanation of all the things you need to do to get sponsorship, but honestly, the best thing you can do it subscribe to the following link:Homepage - Get The Drive Motorsport SponsorshipThe program guides you through all the steps you need to do to get sponsored. It helps you to identify companies, reach out to the appropriate people in the companies, preparing your mindset for the meetings, even sample slide decks for making presentations. I’ve been surprised at how it clarified many of the things I already knew, but wasn’t necessarily implementing to the fullest.I hope this helps you on your journey. Congratulations on deciding to make a go at motorsports. It’s a tough business, but probably the coolest thing you could do. I love the look on the face of a person who asks what I do when I tell them I’m a professional race car driver. You’ll get there…keep pushing for it.

How do I choose my Mia Bella Candle sponsor?

You got some great input. I'd suggest heading over to wahm.com and "lurk" for a bit. That's what I did before joining Scentsy. They have a folder for Mia Bella where other reps chat about Mia Bella and you can get an idea of who might be helpful to you.

I do recommend asking a lot of questions and shop around, so to speak. They will benefit from having you on their team, so be sure they are worth it. I'm not with MB, but if you're looking to bounce ideas off someone, feel free to contact me.

Good luck with your decision and "shopping!"

Walmart As A Sponsor?

That's not right. Walmart cannot even give their employees any benefits. I know people who boycott Walmart because they use work camps in other countries, and have laborers who struggle to make a living, making Walmart products, and then shipped to the U.S.A. Walmart needs to take care of their own employees in this country first (at least). It would be an embarrassment to have Walmart as a NASCAR sponsor. I think it's wrong,

What is the role of a sponsor in a recovery program?

A sponsor in a recovery program strives to fulfill many roles: coach, teacher, critic, therapist, friend, role model, confessor, and primary supporter. The sponsor is in a fall-back position for the newcomer in recovery. He is available most any time for a phone call to shore up weak spirits and possibly save lives.I speak only from the perspective of Alcoholics Anonymous because that is the program that helped me regain my health and sanity. I am sure there are many similar counselors that serve as “sponsors” in other programs, 12-step or not.My AA sponsor was no saint. He told me about many failings and falls from grace that he had been through both before and after becoming a recovering alcoholic. I even found out later that he had been a convicted felon. But there were many qualities he had that I wanted. He had a great sense of humor about everything, the good and the bad. He had a firm handshake and a certain twinkle in his eyes every time I met with him. He had twenty-some years of real sobriety and his actions showed it. He had a certain oddball charisma. He was for real.I suppose that most sponsors share some of those qualities and more. Achieving true sobriety is a psychological as well as a medical/physical process. A sponsor cannot be all things to all people but they can be the one most important thing to one person.Recovery requires courage and rigorous honesty with oneself and others. The sponsor walks his charge through the many pitfalls and dangerous twists and turns of the process. At the “end” of this sponsored journey the real journey begins. Most alcoholics have deep traumas buried away in their minds. Recovery has no end. It is always a process, not a goal. A good sponsor will remain in touch and be there to share life’s burdens and offer advice, though the primary responsibility lies with the newly sober alcoholic.

If the sponsor of a person in Alcoholics Anonymous found them drinking and unhappy, what would they say to them?

The AA sponsor would most likely say; "I can tell  that you are hurting, what's happened?". The sponsor also wouldn't judge, as every alcoholic and drug Addict can relapse, as the sponsor knows exactly how the person feels, or could be feeling. It's hard to kick the habit/habits. The sponsor just needs to be supportive of the person, and try their best to help the person stop drinking for that moment, and then watch them and wait till the drunk unhappy person is reasonably sober...and then talk to them(without lecturing them) about what triggered the person, that day,  to even start drinking. Most alcoholics only know to deal with problems, with alcohol,  to numb the pain. Because that's all they know... Unfortunately... It's like a revolving door.Relapsing isn't the worst thing in the world, as the person who is trying to give up learn a lot about their triggers and themselves. They are also more motivated to give up and get the alcohol out of their life. Also don't be too hard on them. They haven't failed. Everyone has their own path in life and they are able to learn from their mistakes.Make sure you say; "it will be okay, everyone relapses. But you just have to dust yourself off and try again", also when they are sober try say this into a conversation; "don't give up, trying to give up. There's nothing wrong with how long it takes you to be clean and sober, everyone is different".But, most of all make sure that you just listen. Sometimes there is no correct words to help, you can help them a lot just by listening to their words"Letting them know, that your shoulder, is always there to cry on, will make them feel, like you are always there for them. That means a huge difference to someone who has a lot of issues and problems. As some alcoholics and drug addicts don't have anyone who really cares about them..... Unfortunately that is why there is so many suicides.I hope that this helps you in some way. Good luck.

How will you convince a company to sponsor your event?

The first step in convincing a prospective sponsor is making sure that your event and audience profile meets the marketing and promotional expectations of the company that you are approaching. Once you are sure that the company is a good match here are some strategies that will help you convince them -Give them the USP - They will always ask this question - “What is that your event can offer for them that they can not find anywhere else?” More often than not, the answer given is a more general answer but not in terms of what is specific to the brand that you are approaching. You need to highlight the audience profile or extended access or anything unique that your event can provide to the company.Give them ROI - Sponsorship is a commercial arrangement, therefore providing accurate tracking and measurement of ROI across deliverables is crucial for ensuring that the sponsor is convinced.Give them access - Direct access to a targeted market segment is the reason why companies sponsor events. Make sure that you have both online and offline direct interaction channels.Get them online - Digital options like event apps, social media, emails, niche event communities etc are ideal for extending interaction cycle and making the audience engagement dynamic.Highlight past successes - Show your track record in working with similar events/audience and the value (sponsorship packages and ROI) you have successfully delivered before.Do your homework - Before approaching a sponsor, do your groundwork and go into the meeting armed with concrete facts and info regarding deliverables. This will both boost your confidence and make it easier to convince the company.Be creative - Design sponsorship packages depending on the needs of the company you are approaching and be reasonable about the financial commitments you are asking of them in return for your deliverables.
