I Found An Old Plaque And I

I used to eat plaque.?

Relax, eating plaque is not associated with any long term problems. The pain in your chest and arms has no relation to this. Some dental issues can lead to certain health problems in certain individuals, but this is not from eating plaque. The bacteria in the plaque would also be killed instantly by your stomach acid. Dental infections can sometimes get in the bloodstream and lead to an infection in the heart. This usually occurs in people with underlying heart condition like an abnormal heart valve. This would not be an issue for you. Gum infections (gingivitis) was found to increase the risk of heart disease slightly due to increased inflammation in the body. The risk of heart disease is extremely low at your age and even if you did have gingivitis it would not significantly increase your risk of heart problems. I think it is important to prevent plaque from developing in the first place with regular brushing and flossing to prevent these issues.

Victims of starvation were found to have little plaque on their veins, even for old people. Could fasting be harnessed as a means to cardiovascular health?

Starvation is not a good model for a healthy life. Fasting is a personal preference if you feel like it.

Can small amounts of plaque in an artery in a twenty-something-year-old cause heart palpitations? Is such plaque reversible?

Plaque in your arteries in your 20s especially if you are female , may indicate that you come from a family who perhaps often have heart attacks and/ or strokes before 70 yrs.. This is manageable, but some people need surgery. If you are an American and speak to members of your family , get the $$s together quickly and take a relative with you to your local centre for Heart/Coronary health without delay.I recommend that you see a Dr as your family Dr for the next 6 months. ie no-one who works only 2 days a week in that Clinic. . Do not delay in getting this plaque sorted out.For non-USA global citizens contact your local Heart Foundation and get your GP to refer you to an appropriate hospital, or their rooms for An ECG and a Stress test this week.Wherever you live if your GP said you have increased bad cholesterol , take it seriously. You have been blessed by the Cardiac bad fairy and so you need to start caring for yourself from today. My fruiterer, a heavy smoker , died of a heart attack at 28. Please be warned and choose your actions wisely.

I have a photo on a plaque made by Pyraglass in 1946 that I want copied. Is this method still used today?

I haven't see "wet emulsion" since the 60s..which is how this was done. Emulsion was painted on glass or what have you then the picture was made..its a photog thing...never mind..I get carried away.

If there is any wet emusion left www.freestyle.com might have some..or a photo archivist site...I think it's a clayton something. He makes old time chemicals.

Haveing not seen the photos I cannot advise you on how to copy them. That said, IF you can get a decent copy on a copy machine, chances are a professional who is more my age than 20..say 50 years old + probably could shoot you copies.

I say my age or better because my generation of true photographers learned from our aged betters when we were "pups".

Is scraping plaque off my teeth with my fingernails bad for my enamel?

It’s not a great idea for routine ‘care’ if you persist in doing it.If you habitually go through the same action, again and again, rubbing away at the same area of the enamel surface, you will cause wear. And maybe it’s a nervous habit and you do it excessively on one spot. Your fingernail will saw into the enamel surface if you pick on a spot and work at it for a few years. It seems unlikely on the face of it. But think what happens to the diamond stylus that picks up vibrations from a vinyl record surface. The diamond slowly wears down. But it can be worse; you can accelerate it. Let’s say you eat or drink something that is very acidic. This has the effect of ‘softening’ the enamel surface. In reality, there’s a chemical dissolution happening on the surface. The dissolved mineral ions can escape. If you decide that now’s the time to start sawing away with the edge of your fingernail because the bacteria have quickly multiplied and the surfaces feel ‘furry’, you have the perfect opportunity to remove that weakened surface layer. Then there’s the point where the enamel meets the root surface. you’ll feel it as a little detente. It will guide your self-destructive efforts so that you saw into your dentine very effectively.…on balance? Do it only in emergencies! And the hygiene thing? You have such an incredibly rich diversity of bacteria in your mouth that the stuff you might have under your fingernails will probably already be a part of that jungle of bugs. Unless your fingernails are contaminated with something exceptional, you probably have had most of the fingernail bugs in your mouth since you were only a few months old.

My recent CT scan shows I have a minimal calcified plaque in the aorta without aneurysm how dangerous is that? Am I in trouble?

I actually know the answer in just about all probability. But understand that the concept behind this caveat I put in boldface type is because there is a chance, however small, that I'm wrong because you (take your pick): took this fragment from your report out of critical context; misread or miscopied what you saw written; that some shyster lawyer could use my words against me, somehow persuading a jury that I assume some responsibility by informing you what it means; as well as the biggest problem, what I think may be out of context which only someone sufficiently versed in your history knows. Finally, answering such does encourage every Tom, Dick, and Harry to think, “Hey, I dunno what it means, so I'm going to ask a perfect stranger on the internet whose credentials I'm unlikely to verify to be a substitute for my own Physician.”So what does one do instead? I dunno, how about using some common sense?Go ask the Physician who actually ordered this imaging study on you what it means. Got it?A sincere good luck.
