You shouldn't get a trendy name because when people will search for your channel they will not find it cuz it's a “trendy” one this means many people use this kind of name. But you know it's up to you. You will still get views. Try some YouTube channel name generators then when you find one you like a little, try to change it. Or invent your own name by combining some terms that describe your channel. For example if you will make gaming videos you could combine “your name”+”gaming”. Something like that. Or you could just use your whole name as your channel's name if it's easy to pronounce, easy to remember and if it sounds good. For example “Ryan Higa”.

Hi everyone! I'm going to open a youtube channel and I was thinking about the names! Though I'm a girl I'm not gonna talk about make up at all.. I'm going to upload funny videos and I have thought about these names: -erica masbery (my second name) -erica mabery (idk I think it sounds better without a s) -erica juice (my actual last name and it would be cool because I already have an idea for the channel graphic but I'm afraid of people thinking it's a cooking channel please tell me what would you think) I wanted something I won't became boring when I grow up so I first thought about my real names tell me what you like most and which one would you click if you see it around youtube comments and tell me what name would make you most curious :) Also suggest me some new ones or modify mine I'll be happy to check them out ! This is my personal opinion because I have not looked into if there's a correlation between choosing your real name or pseudonym for your YouTube channel and how drastically success is affected. I think it all depends on how you brand yourself in the end no matter what name is chosen. When iisuperwomanii started, my friend thought the name was stupid and no one would remember it but, look at her now. She has given a whole new meaning to superwoman. She could've easily used her real name (Lily Singh) which is so much simpler but she didn't. She has claimed to be superwoman and branded herself as such and is a huge success. Same for NigaHiga. Now we've got other people using their real names as well who are just as successful. Christian Guzman and Robin Gallant in the bodybuilding side of YouTube. You've got Jamie and Nikki doing daily vlogs. All successful. So, I say name your channel whatever you desire and just brand it so that whenever someone hears that name (even if your name is John Smith) they'll instantly think of you and no one else.
